- The Compton Cowboys, a close-knit club of friends, joined thousands of people for a peaceful trip through Compton on Sunday. The club, which formed in 2017 to dispel stereotypes against black people, welcomed all riders for a march from Gateway Towne Center to Compton City Hall.

In Compton Horses are allowed, I live in compton. People think wrong about compton they think It's a bad place, but It's really peaceful and It's amazing. This proves people wrong that Compton Is not Chaotic.
Some people there helped me back in the 70s. I was stuck on the freeway. They took me in and I slept. They fed me and were really cool people. I will never forget. Anyone says bad about Compton? I share my story.

I got to visit Compton today, so many people told me that they've never been there because of how "bad" it is but wow was it such a beautiful city. The people were more generous and kind there than most of LA. At no point did I feel like I was in any sort of danger and this just proves how horribly misunderstood the city is. It felt like a genuine community, people look out for eachother, and that is truly amazing to me.
Glad you got to see for yourself. Truthfully, white or non POC are safer in Black spaces that Black people are in White spaces. You should see the Myrrh Street annual block party in August.
Well lucky. I got my ass kicked there when i was 14 bc i was wearing the wrong hat apparently.
When I worked in the California Conservation Corps, I went to Compton, CA to help eradicate END (exotic Newcastle disease) in the poultry population. There are very nice properties out there, as well as, very beautiful, well-kept neighborhoods.
I love my hometown. This was beautiful. #COMPTON

When you are used to privilege, equality feels like oppression. I personally don't believe conservatives cant handle equality. That is why our every attempt at equality is thwarted, and every one of our narratives hijacked and replaced with white versions. Ours was one of the earliest black families to move to Compton in the 1950s. Raised there into the early 1970s. It was a peaceful, racially integrated, middle class city on the edge of urban L.A. and yes, many people had horses. As kids we'd ride them, hunted rabbits with our pellet guns in surrounding open fields & Dominguez Hills south of town, caught crawfish in Compton creek, and rode our bikes all over until the street lights came on with no fear of anything. It was a great childhood in a city that suffered greatly as the urban woes of adjacent Los Angeles slowly moved in bringing poverty, white flight, gangs, and urban decay. However, many good families stayed, and hopefully the city is on a new path to regain its status as a great place to live and raise a family.
It’s not a prediction. They have been there for a while.

I still can’t hope to understand why when people say “black lives matter” people like you respond with the critique “all lives matter”. Of course white lives matter everyone understands that because it’s made clear to us everyday that this country and society believe that white lives are more valuable than black lives. The only point that these people are trying to make is that we should all matter equally.
