I used the original 1D for years until the 1D Mark IIn came out. The biggest and most consistent problem I had was that violet would show up as dark blue. Normal purple (red+blue) on the other hand looked perfectly purple. Unfortunately one team I shot for wore both purple *and* violet things and that made it impossible to correct the violets without turning the true purples into some kind of incorrect reddish purple. In some extreme cases I had no choice but to select the violets manually in post to fix them. Ugh! Of course there were also the rainbow moires due to the weak antialias filter but that didn't happen too often. When someone was wearing something with a dark/light pattern (like black and white plaid) I knew to take lots of shots because there would be some rainbows in them and, with some luck, you'd get some shots that wouldn't require too much work in post. Since there was no way to magnify the images in camera, you wouldn't find out until you looked at them on a monitor. Also point expansion in AF really didn't work for sports (at least not for me). I could feel the delay it was causing my shots when it started using surrounding AF points. It was best to use the single center point and do everything possible to give that one point what it needed to focus properly.
I have a D30 released the year before the 1D. It is oversensitive to infrared, and I have discovered that colour reproduction is much more accurate with an IR cut filter fitted to the lens, just like the original Leica M8. This might be a solution for the 1D.
@@scottlarson1548 Yes, you are of course right. Lacking violet implies that there is a cutoff at the Violet-Ultraviolet end of the spectrum. UV damages CCDs, so did Canon fit an overly strong UV cutoff filter?
@@geoffreypiltz271 To get a sensor to see violet properly, the red pixels have to see to violet light on the other end of the visible spectrum. They weren't doing that. Also, Canon didn't make the 1D sensor.
@@scottlarson1548 I was referring to a UV (not IR) filter in my second comment. Although Canon didn't make the sensor any UV filter could have been fitted by Canon or to their specification.

I bought the canon DC-E1 battery adapter with wall wart. I have a portable lithium Ion battery pack I can carry in a backpack to shoot for 3-4 days of continuous high fps shooting. Third solution is 8x 18650 3000mah samsung cell battery pack with 13v regulated output. This is a hard case that screws into the bottom tripod thread on the body and connects to the DC-E1. Fourth solution is using 3x18650 3000mah cells installed inside the OEM battery shell with a dc-dc regulator for 13v output.

I still have my Canon Eos 1D, and yes, I did buy it new, so ouch 😁 but anyway, with the new firmware 1.4 you can use up to 8 GB cards if you format them in the camera, and apparently, (although I haven't tried this), up to 32 GB can be written to a card if formatted first on a computer. Just thought I'd mention it. All the best.
Love the colors and skin tone. Those old dslrs can deliver!
Nice! I'm still using my eos 5d
Are the still images shot with a 50mm lens? The colors are beautiful, much more than the video. Great!
it proves that the overbidding of pixels is purely commercial, and a real scam.
It's a very exciting review.
I am also looking for the EOS-1D.
The sooc results are amazing 🤯 amazing
Awesome photos. Love your style. I got this camera from a neighbour's kids after he passed away. They were like tossing out everything out of his apartment, so I said why not. I had no idea what this camera is all about. I was wanting a Leica 8 so bad for its' great sensor and the photos that it renders, so w. this camera I might get close although it's quite a boat anchor to carry around. I haven't even fired it up yet as I don't habe the battery charger. I hope it is still in working order. It is totally distressed from excessive use. Oh, and the model you were shooting is great
It looks a lot like what they were trying to do with the colour richness and tonality of the original EOS R, but a bit more natural.
ccd > cmos for sure. Still keep my Nikon d70s for occasional shooting (great handling camera), the d200 with 10.2 mpx is tempting.
Such a lovely vid about what really matters 😍
Le sacaste muy buenos retratos, felicidades! Gran review de la cámara 👍
Have you ever used Tamron SP lens on it? I tried my 35 1.4 and 70-210 , neither of them worked. Wondering if it was only my case?
I use a 1DS and it's beautiful to shoot. Unfortunately the batteries on it are clunky and replacement ones are hard to get
Georgia, is most definitely on my mind.
love this camera picked up a really mint copy like it looked untouched for 500 2 years ago its still my fave camera to take around
Where did you find it?
Wow the colours straight from the raw file look better than my edits! I need to get myself a 1D Mk1, shame they're so hard to find
I like CCD sensors, too. I have a Pentax *ist DS that uses the same sensor as Nikon D100.
nice photos! i have canon 1d and it is among top three Dslrs for color rendering T what lens did you use for this photo session?
0:29 I can see it's the 50mm 1.8 STM
Hi Mehdi , would you like to share what are those top three Dslrs ? Thanks !
@@yew108 sorry i can not, it took me 10 years buying and selling cameras to find out best digital color cameras! and even if i tell you you can not find them used on ebay either !
Was watching and listening with great pleasure, twice)) You've inspired me to buy some 40d and walking around with everybody I know to make good stuff by the low price 😃
I was able to purchase a mint copy for only $150. I love it.
Great pictures, please do make another episode.
Great review, very well done. Thank you very much!
Lovely images!! Love those colors!
Muy buenas! Muchas gracias! Sabes dónde podría conseguir una actualmente?
Forget the camera ...she is brilliant and a throw back to a bygone age of modelling. What ever you paid her...it wasn't enough
But suggest me where I can find a 1D Original!
Nice color and pictures.
Please review 1D mark iii
Nice review and super pictures. I have a Canon 1d & 1d mark ii and still use them….
May I ask how the image quality of the original 1D compares to the 1D mark ii N? This video has compels me to buy an original 1D. But if the N comes close, maybe I should wait.

Like this model and I also have collected a Canon 1D4.
Great model and photographies.
You should try the old digital Hasselblads with CCD. Incredible images off those
I have tried one!

What camera did you use to film this?
Looking for a 1D III. Is it worth it and what lens for Boudoir photos
Nice video, thanks! She is so attractive from every angle. Nice angles from you and the quality from this old beast is very impressive. Which lens did you use please?
0:29 I can see it's the 50mm 1.8 STM
Saludos👋
Nice photos and colors. Can you please give us some of the portrait shots in RAW? Thanks!
It’s at the end of the video!
@@geoffreypiltz271 Purples rendering as dark blue is the opposite of IR sensitivity.
Would be nice to know which lens?
this camera is very similar to the finepix S2Pro and with the advantage of using battery and not the traditional AA that finepix uses... I want to take this moment to say that your work as a photographer is really very good, I loved your photos, congratulations! PS: any errors in the text will be the translator's fault (lol).
I wish you did some action shots or shots moving out of a vehicle, to show off the global shutter of ccd
Beautiful pictures
1D shooter here as well. Just did two days at the race track with the 1D and Sigma 120-300/2.8 and the results are stunning! Way more keepers than with the A73 and the same lens with MC-11 in between. Everyone loved the photos and the colors just pop out at you.
I've solved the battery issue as well with the DC adapter option as well as a lithium hacked OEM battery shell.
How'd you solve the battery issue? Can you please elaborate!
I've tried the 18650 one ,the cells don't property physically fit inside my old np-e3 she'll.hmm
13v regulated output? How'd do do that
Really great video. Glad I ran across it.
Eduardo, where can I find a charger for this? Any links
Canon 1D: Just 4 megapixels
Nikon D1: laughs with its 2.7 megapixels
I have a lot of fun with my Nikon D1
Man there is something about Canon I love and I cant pinpoint it. Im shooting on Sony currently and I'm tempted to pick this up.
Great video and results. The 1D has incredible colors. Please provide info as to what lens you used.
Just the basic Canon 50mm f1.8
@@edpavez there are 3 versions of them plus additional 2 yongnuo counterfeit ones
@@utube321piotr 50 1.8 STM, the one with metal mount.
@@edpavez excellent, that's the same as what I have and it makes great images
On my wishlist too...but I'm mostly Olympus And Nikon user...😁😁
Im buying a 1Ds Mk3! Probably or another but yeah, it's worth it.
yeah, if you upload this pics on any social media and wont tell people that that's from 20 years old digital camera, hardly anyone will guess
upd. I like your editing, skin tones especially c:
