I would argue that whilst Instagram car culture has overdone the green thing, you have all the bragging rights that it was a genuine Irish Green 912 from the factory. So, I'd personally go down that route and embrace its originality!
I’d usually say OEM but considering what the OEM was I’d go silver or ivory. I’ve seen quite a few of these around recently and a friend has a very nice example in white. It’s a very elegant car and even though I love my 964, the 912 is something rather special.
Signal red as it’s about as classic as a 911 gets paint wise, or for a more 1of1 but still staying in the Porsche family any of the following would look great: Raspberry Metallic Aubergine Royal Purple Linen Grey Metallic
On the other hand, the car will be worth more in its original colour. And there aren't actually many Irish Green Porsches in RHD, period. And if he opted for a modern eye-popping colour, he would almost certainly regret it in less than a week. Initial wow factor doesn't necessarily equal long-term wow factor.
I agree with not going dark, but returning it to its original colour would be fresh and it'll maximise his investment in the car, unless he's going to make it an outlaw.
My favorite car in your stable! Lot of emphasis on the ‘reveal’ when it comes to the colour. Personally I’d take her back to when she left the factory, and that would be the colour. Only going to be revealed once, but hopefully she is around for decades to come.
I’d usually say stick to its original colour but I agree… if you are at this stage you have a choice to make. As long as it’s a genuine colour of the model/period.
This is one of my favourite of your projects at the moment, genuinely can’t wait to see the final product. Are you also doing an interior restoration as well?
Saw a lovely 'light blue metallic' one in the south of france, looked amazing. plus I think just good old Silver would look amazing with all the chrome details. and that leaves you some options for the interior without being over the top
Grasmere Green. I'm not a Porsche aficionado, so no idea if that is sacrilege. But it sits in between Irish Green and the cream maybe? Chatted to an Irish fella, with a vintage Landy in Grasmere green, in France this year, and it was stunning. Especially with its sand coloured Canvas.
Go brown I reckon. The Oem paint is a nice idea but it is a shame the Green has been over done. Also P.S green cars are unlcuky. I wouldn’t have one. X 💙

Looking forward to seeing what colour you choose! This is my favorate of your cars, the first classic on the channel!👍🏽
Ahhhh, my favourite series of yours, Tom. Yup, definitely give it a new paint job… don’t be too conservative 👏👏👏👍👍👍🙂
A really dark purple/plum/aubergine with a bit of sparkle in it for when the sun hits it would be my choice for that.
Ivory with Tan leather interior! Or some kind’ve light blue with beige/ivory interior - Absolute class!

You bought it because it was Irish Green, you squib! Leave it be. ☘️ 🇮🇪
Signal red as it’s about as classic as a 911 gets paint wise, or for a more 1of1 but still staying in the Porsche family any of the following would look great:
Raspberry Metallic
Aubergine
Royal Purple
Linen Grey Metallic
Bahia red is a great colour. More interesting than Guards red and a little off piste.
Sepia Brown with a tan and cream interior 👌
Rubystone red would be epic
You should definitely colour change it Tom, you've spent so much on it the car deserves something special.

Yachting Blue Metallic is the PTS color you need. Will have the classic look but metal flake will pop and look more modern too.
Why not metal flake Irish Green? Gold/copper metal flake with gold/copper wheels?
He’s right, it’s had so much work done now, why not give it a fresh face. Just make it a light colour, don’t go dark.
I agree with not going dark, but returning it to its original colour would be fresh and it'll maximise his investment in the car, unless he's going to make it an outlaw.
@@nigel.woutlaw would be awesome id prolly buy a 964 or 993 and have guntherwerks do they think
That Mamba Green colour looked stunning.
Looking good Tom. Intrigued to see the final colour!
We all love a TGE visit to Rindt, Go any colour but Green Tom..
Lido Gold or Ice Green Metallic would look stunning on the 912!!!
Nothing like a classic porsche 👌
I could imagine the price to restore a Porsche to this level is enough to bring a tear to your eye .
More than one tear!
Totally, Tom will need to peddle lots of tat to pay for this one…. Surprised he did mention that gaudy watch thing he likes.
That cab on the lift dreamcar
Been waiting on this one 🙏
Irish Green has been done to death, would fully support a colour change, and Ivory would look so cool!
We are looking forward to the JETV car reveal tomorrow night at 6pm 👍🏻
🥳🥳🥳
Irish Green is the right thing to do, but if you must change it, Miami Blue, obviously 😉.
Keep it the original colour. It's why you fell for the car in the first place. If you change the colour. Choose one of the correct time period.
Since you asked, I'm partial to blue. I think a dark, navy blue would suit it nice
Navy blue with beige/white interior! Class
My favorite car in your stable! Lot of emphasis on the ‘reveal’ when it comes to the colour. Personally I’d take her back to when she left the factory, and that would be the colour. Only going to be revealed once, but hopefully she is around for decades to come.
That mamba green looked niicccee
My 89 had a lovely Baltic blue metallic - don’t limit yourself to OEM solid colours only
I’d usually say stick to its original colour but I agree… if you are at this stage you have a choice to make. As long as it’s a genuine colour of the model/period.
Might as well go for a different colour and make it your own, but once again it’s your car and you do as you want mate! 😎
Metallic bronze body and contrasting leather interior and period correct wheels
This is one of my favourite of your projects at the moment, genuinely can’t wait to see the final product. Are you also doing an interior restoration as well?
Interior was done! You’ve missed some episodes!
@@TGEoh my bad, I subbed around the time you handed it to Rindt for it to stripped down and painted, have to go back and watch!
Tom, I suggest Miami Blue.
If you go Irish green for them to do it the right way they have to paint the car black.
Take that Porsche tractor for a spin lad.
356 colour? Togo brown, Radium Green or Fish silver.
Yes we needed this.....
Love your Porsche restoration and collections ❤
Prefer the focus to be on your 912 not all the 911’s on the way .
Yellow would look cool.
IMO, that would make it extremely difficult to sell on if he wanted to, and it's one of the worst colours to change from.
Gulf blue!
Silver
Make it orange
Chestnut brown ?
I would go for 90’s - 993 “midnight blue”. Understated, sexy and pops in the sun yet looks dark and moody in the winter!
IMO, the 912 doesn't suit dark colours. It needs lengthening rather than shortening.
@@nigel.w Nah. Looks like it’s trying too hard to put it in a bold modern or retro modern paint. Everyone is doing the orange or viper green thing.
Saw a lovely 'light blue metallic' one in the south of france, looked amazing.
plus I think just good old Silver would look amazing with all the chrome details. and that leaves you some options for the interior without being over the top
I really love that silver colour, real nice job 👏🏼👏🏼
Lido Gold, Sahara Beige or Cockney Brown
Olive. It’s an original 912 colour
Tom, what are the approximate costs of the 912 restoration?
Ivory 😍
Interested to see where you go with colour, knowing you're a man of taste it'll be a period correct colour not some nonsense new flash nonsense.
I have done exactly this to my 69. 912. LHD. I would like to sell it now Can you give it a value when you have completed.
Get in touch with @rindtvehicledesign - they’ll probably have a buyer!
That bright green 60s 911 at the start was gorgeous.
I love this kind of content
bahama yellow
Slate Grey (ala Steve McQueen's car in Le Mans)
Spotted it with the metalwork done! 😎
My 912 was Irish green so I'd have to vote for Irish green..
I agree.
This is going to be the most expensive 912 in non original color.....
Paint it the same blue as the Ruf Porsche 1963 901 Quickblau.
Irish Green Metallic with a subtle gold or copper fleck, and gold or copper wheels.
I want the green one.
Love looking at the freshly painted bodies.
New colour mate, don't be a boring old man.
Spending all that money and it’s still a 912 should of sold on and got another 911
Got enough 911’s. Want a 912. Thanks chavvo
I'd go some sort of yellow (from the period). 👍
Definitely change the colour, it’s not every day you get to spec an old car
Irish green from a Irish man.
I agree.
Your car your choice but you ruined it , more money than sense springs to mind
How did I ruin it? Idiot
Silver!
Ideas for colors: Slate Grey, Aga Blue, Bahma Yellow or Gulf Blue. Still OEM Colors - but also a really cool fit for the 912. Cheers!
Go brown I reckon. The Oem paint is a nice idea but it is a shame the Green has been over done. Also P.S green cars are unlcuky. I wouldn’t have one. X 💙
Does Tom really know what is up or down in the car market😂😂😂😂
Check my purchases. Yes 😂
Too much Porsche content 😮😢
Rubystone Tom 😍
Baby blue!
I 100% would change the colour, you’ve put too much into it to have it look the same as it did before
I'd go Racing Yellow 💛
Love this car. Well done 👍
912 hot rod like the 356. 8)
