Given that Ottawa will have to forfeit our #1 pick in the 2026 draft I don't feel we will trade the 2025 1st rounder because the cupboard is pretty bare. With the massive improvement in goaltending (finally) and the fact we have climbed up the standings despite playing many more road games than home games I think we stand pat at the tradeline. I liked it a lot more when there would be 25 trades at the deadline...it was must see tv. The NHL should freeze the trading period until the day of the deadline. As a Wild fan, thank you for mentioning Merrill. He's a good guy but he does not have game anymore. I would take any of the defenseman mentioned over Merrill. Even Jiricek looks much better. I will say, Merrill played a great game against the Leafs yesterday.
Ehlers would be a self rental not traded. If a big trade happens it's going to include Lambert,Perfetti,Heinola,Lucius,Barlow,Stanley,Picks,or iafallo for his 4.1m cap.
Grav what's wrong with the Sens dcore the defensive analytics have them as a top 10 bordering on top 5 defensive team why are we still running with the narrative that they are bad defensively and this is without Ullmark most of the season the main thing the Sens need is a top 6 finisher that can score the plays Stutzle sets them up for cause Gaudette is missing way too many
@SkodenFok that's definitely a part of it but when Jensen is healthy and the pairs are Sanderson - Zub (which has been the best defensive pair this season for lowest expected goals against per 60) Chabot - Jensen Kleven - Matinpalo The dcore has been very good and ya the forwards actually playing defense compared to under DJ definitely helps but the main concern for Ottawa should be a top 6 finisher. Their priority has been defense 1st under Green which has worked great but they need to be more clinical with the offensive chances

We have quite a few players that could be added to a contender but, honestly I agree with you completely Granlund is the most attractive but, as you correctly stated we would be even worse if they let him go as we have no one who can step in and fill his role on our top line. Additionally, Granlund has be an excellent mentor to our new young core of players. I would say that the following players would be available though most don't have much value: Granlund Zetterlund Kunin Nico Sturm Grunstrom De Landria Cody Ceci Mario Ferraro Jan Ruta Peter St. John Clovis, CA

Yeah Nemec is only going if its a upgrade to a position probably with a 1st attached with him but his never actually requested a trade only reason his not with the Devils and is with the Comets is he got beat out by other guys he really wasn't good in the time he was in New Jersey this year.

I think it's the forwards that help out too much and don't create offense hence being shutout 5 times in 12 games but still have a winning record
