The camouflage is so crazy. Last summer my son and I caught a garter snake while working on the yard. Of corse we let it go in our garden and ever since then he’s on the lookout for snakes. lol. Being a dad is awesome.
We had Eastern Indigos all over the place for years. They're gorgeous and completely docile. We used to pick them up and they became so use to us they really did not care. Often they made no attempt to move on at all.
As a 'viper guy' I had the pleasure and joy to keep, breed and handle a lot of different vipers over the time. But B. gabonica always was in my Top 5 list. Your specimen looks really cool. Nice pattern and coloration.

Whats great about this video is your not randomly handling it to have to prove to audiences how wonderful this species is. She isn't show boating get snake to move about. To many are trying to have appreciation for snakes by foolishing handling them, or having a cobra randomly outside its enclosure. Gaboons are a little too dangerous for that! I wouldn’t just be grabbing one to show it off! They are incredibly strong and extremely fast strikers! And they have the most intimidating fangs of any snake species! Incredibly dangerous venom and strong jaws, I hope I never find one in the wild! But they are one of the most beautiful snakes I’ve ever seen! And I’m just fine looking through glass to see them!
I was super into snakes when I was a little kid. My absolute favorite snake of all time has always been the gaboon viper. And that is one absolute beautiful specimen, and Jake Yantic taboo that’s gotta be the biggest one I’ve ever seen.

They live in rainforest in savannahs. They are lowland creatures. They hide under leaf litter, their colors and pattern blends perfectly. Not really the kind of snake to find on mountains, they would stick out like a red flag
