I'm hearing this a lot about Mc DC Multiverse, that people want the classic designs and not these crazy versions Todd's giving us. Most collectors have multiple variations of the classic designs from various companies, I mean look at your collection!! I think Todd's trying to give us something new and not just because someone new/different.He's always talking about the "WOW" factor and I think that's what he's accomplished. His figures are definitely something most people don't have in their collection and new buyers are attracted to the new designs.
Exactly my point I'm happy and satisfied we getting these different versions cuz everybody wants Classics version from every company that gets a crack at DC, I love classics myself but this is new & refreshing plus Todd is mixing up some classics here in there in between atlease.
If he released the OG version first then these iterations wouldn't do so well. Fans will buy these now because of being impatient and then buy OG once it does release. I know that happened to me for Martian Manhunter haha. Smart business IMO. Cheers.
I do like Wally in blue. Like, I know they've been having trouble trying to give him something of his own, looks-wise, to differentiate him from Barry, especially as they try to graft personality traits from Wally onto Barry to make him a less dry character, but most of the looks haven't done it for me. The blue, though, I like.
I do too. It’s a little hard for me to get past the “scarlet speedster” paradigm that’s been around as long as Barry has, but Wally’s blue costume just seems to work. He’s the only figure in this wave I’m picking up. Leaks indicate that more popular versions of Wallace West and Jay Garrick are on their way, so that definitely helps.

I feel the same way in terms of releasing a standard version of a character before doing these one off variants. I just don’t articulate it as well as Brad does, and I end up being accused of being a “hater” because it’s not “classic”. It’s not about classic. I’m not looking to replace my DCUC collection. Classic is always welcome, but at this point, I’m more interested in New 52, Rebirth, etc. I even enjoy the Injustice 2 designs. It’s just that Death Metal and other contemporary DC events that Todd is drawing from, as well as his own designs, are so extreme. I don’t deny that they make cool looking toys, but there are thousands of cool looking toys out there these days. I’m about collecting figures of characters that I have a vested interest in.
I really like the Flash and if these were normal versions, I'd be all for it. The problem with exclusives is Todd loves Walmart and Walmart hates customers. That said, the sculpts look good for the Mcfarlane school of design. Could definitely be better as action figures but work was clearly put into the designs. On sale, maybe I might pick these up, but it's gotta be a really good one. But Mcfarlane once they changed the scale and adopted a very different body forfeit all right to just offer something new. No one has these characters in standard costumes that fit with Mcfarlane. But really all it takes is one. We don't need 20 variations on Wonder Woman/Wally Flash/Jay/Wallace/Green Arrow/Static/Catwoman/Aquaman and others standard costume. We just need one good one(that gets a reissue from time to time) with a bunch of unique looks surrounding it. We just need one. They Mcfarlane can do the super edgy cool design. Like where is my Electric Superman in Red/Blue?
I'd recommend trying that black paint on another figure first, just since it'd be good to find out if you think the effect works, or if there are quirks to that paint, before you do it on a figure that'd cost you quite a bit to replace if you end up hating the end result.
6:20 I thought I was alone on the ankle issue. I have to angle my reverse flash’s leg so much so he’s always in a running pose. And that takes a lot of space on a shelf
I like the themed waves. McFarlane def got me into Flash. Funky wacky wave. Wish he’d fix those diapers. The ankle they should be able to get the clicks in a standard standing pose. It should be too hard to figure out that ?
I agree. McF did a good job rendering it into toyform but I'm not interested in buying any of these as I never liked the design in the comics originally. i just hope that if these figure lot blows, Todd doesn't see this as a failure of the actual characters but of the design.
I have an M35 phicen I've been trying to find a superman outfit for, I've thought about the dc direct classic but I'm not sure it will work. Right now I'm using the 14 inch mego superman outfit but it's not quite right. Help please.
Wally NEEDS to stay Blue. Its ridiculous that they just keep putting him back into a suit that looks nearly exactly like Barrys. Wally in this suit without the DR Manhattan symbol is perfect. Give him a new name like Mercury or something, and Wally will be golden.
I SERIOUSLY doubt Jay and Wallace are getting gold label repaints from these. generally Gold Labels are repaints with maybe one or two unique parts. There is nothing on these figures that can just repainted to be their "regular" looks. even Jays helmet has extra sculpted detail that wouldnt work.
I can see two classic jays behind you and I’m sure a lot of the fans of the character already have them and will find redundant to buy a new version . To non fans the costume looks a little silly and the new version could be cooler. I guess that could be the reasoning for doing alternate versions first.

these death metal related characters are just not for me at all, while im glad fans of it are getting figures, itd also be nice to get some figures that we’re still missing. still no standard comic wonder woman, no comic hawkman or hawkgirl, comic supergirl, green arrow, black manta, mr freeze, and so many more. and thats not even including figures that we already know are coming but still no word on them?? hey remember the non gold label arkham knight red hood and scarecrow? the ones that some people have in hand already? still nothing from todd. while the dc multiverse line is vastly improving, this obsession with death metal is still prevalent and i hope it gets fixed. especially if dc doesnt reup the contract with mcfarlane and they lose the license at the end of this year.
Decent wave but I think Jay Garrick's the only one from it i'll get. Yeah I do want a classic version too but this one's pretty badass to me. I actually like that Todd's doing figures of alternate versions of characters. Of course I want the classic versions too but I think there's room for both. If we can get multiple Batmen we can get classic and alternate comic versions of other characters. We're still overdue for a classic comic version of Wonder Woman and i'm hoping we get Braniac and a proper Doomsday figure eventually.

Movie or DC Metal? 🤨Even DCG says Jay Garrick has a classic look, on top of hundreds of variations of these characters in comics history to choose from, BUT McFarlane is full-on obsessed with DC Metal and that’s great for a niche company with just a piece of the license, but not for the company holding the master license. The master license holder is supposed to attempt to appeal to a wider market, not just himself.

Todd clearly loves the Flash almost as much as he loves Batman. Cuz he's done a lot of Flashes and Flash villains.

Over the years of reading flash comics with Jay Garrick, I have always wondered how he runs so fast and never loses the helmet.
I'm really happy we got these. I didn't think we would ever get these versions. I don't think we will see regular versions for a long time.

OG Jay, Bart!!, Maybe even kid flash Wally and Wallace, Avery Ho, some more flash villains and id be happy. more flash the better imo

They already renewed the contract with Todd he must be making a killing in sales cuz I think they extended the terms another 2 to 3 yrs.
