Actually, this canticle, Te Deum, is Anglican. It is in the service of Morning Prayer in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. So glad that Methodists like it, too!
It is here called "Methodist canticle", which it is to the extent that it is used in Methodist worship since the 19 century. However, it was originally a Latin canticle "Te Deum laudamus" that first become known in the 4th century. The most well known English translation appeared in the Church of England Book of Common Prayer in 1549 and is widely used even today in Anglican, Lutheran and Methodist and Roman Catholic churches. It is one of the most well known canticles in all of Christendom. ua-cam.com/video/QtaSd4qcU7c/v-deo.html
