Hey there…former Naval officer here! Even after 30 Royal Caribbean cruises, these quick tips are always good reminders. Will be boarding number 31 in a few days.
My parents were big cruisers. Dad ended up with kidney failure and RC offers cruises that provide dialysis. It’s not cheap but it made vacations much easier once dad got sick. (If you bring your family they give the family a discount but I think it only applies if someone is receiving dialysis treatment). Our last cruise the entire family and grandkids went along… thank you for the memories RIP dad and mom.
Always great advice. If you chose to board after staterooms are open (usually 1:30 PM) then you can the luggage you carry on straight to your stateroom. RCI will provide extension cords if you request one at time of booking, sometimes there are some available after you board. I don’t bring my original pill bottles and have never had a problem. And unless something has changed, if your luggage doesn’t arrive by 6 PM, check with guest services, security may be holding it for some reason.
Inform your pharmacy of your travels and ask them to print an extra label for each medication. Secure all of the labels together with a paperclip, always keep them with your passport and you shouldn’t miss placed them.
I brought on a reusable spill proof tumbler with me and some of my favorite tea bags filled it up in my room we usually pack just carry on luggage and a personal item
In order to zipline on royals ships The shoes have to not only be closed toes they have to be tie on and not a slip-on. They don't want them falling off.
I took a photo of each of my medication bottles with the pill next to it. I figure if they were really going to jump on my daily pill container, then I’d have proof of each. Like the person above, taking each bottle, tube, and cutter would be a nightmare! I always pack a few extra days worth, as you never know!
Same here - I have quite few prescriptions, and most of them are in a 90-day supply (the bottles are large). So I took pictures of each bottle including a pill in front, and keep them on my phone.
I certainly hope Royal never enforces the “original pill bottles” rule. Unfortunately due to a chronic auto-immune condition, that would be my entire carry-on; I use pill boxes organized by day. Never had a cruise line stop me so far.
It certainly would be hard for you. It may be to safe guard passengers if they have to get off the ship in a foreign country for some unseen circumstance. Nobody wants to be questioned by authorities about their meds. Maybe a good idea to safeguard yourself (if you not already) to keep a photo copy of the original bottle labels so they can see exactly what the pills are. Just to keep you safe.
@@cassiehyre4903 I definitely do that-photos of the original bottle labels. I actually have ended up in a hospital in Colombia for emergency surgery (broken ankle) from a cruise and didn’t have trouble regarding my meds. If I had anything that was schedule I (I don’t) such as pain medication, I’d take the original bottles for that.
Hi Dee! Thanks for the comment. I have not heard of Royal enforcing the original bottle advisement they give. Royal states that they "advise that all medications remain in their original, labeled prescription containers" rather than saying must, required, prohibited without, etc. Hopefully you will never have any issues. But, if you are able to take things in their original containers it would be better safe than sorry. Appreciate you my Friend!
I agree that to carry all my original medicine bottles would fill a small carry on, the curse of having a lot of health problems. I carry only my pill cases and always carry an extra week worth just in case. The idea about taking along printed copies of all my medicines is something I can do and will be doing from now on. I also use a small mobility scooter and carry an extra battery with the cords needed for changing. I put my extension cords and power strip inside that case, so I guess that is why I have never had any issues. The case has the Travel Scoot logo on it and I always put my extra battery on top with all the paperwork for the scooter next under battery. I am sure if they open it and see the first things, they do not look further.
Dude, I own that exact color and brand suitcase that you have with an X on it. Good informative video, but you had me stressing because I’m about to go on my cruise 😂
Best advice I can give is to just pack with a suitcase carry-on and a personal item. We have over 20 cruises and have never left anything behind. I only have in a carry-on suitcase and backpack and it's pretty easy to just take it on the ship ourselves. I have witnessed way too many times where people have never gotten their luggage after giving it to the porters.
This is what I was going to ask. There are 4 of us but we’re able to pack in a carry on each and a backpack. I’d prefer to bring our own luggage on to the ship too. Glad to know this is an option.
So what do you do with it once you’re on the ship and your stateroom isn’t ready? Our boarding time is 11:00 am so there is a high likelihood our rooms won’t be ready 😬 I know the kids want to hit the waterslide asap so I’m not sure if we can tote around our suitcases on the pool deck?
I would also recommending packing a sandal or water shoe that you can wear IN the water. I had some nice walking sandals on my excursion to Nevis, which included a stop at a beach club. Only problem was that the sand was darker than usual and was SO hot that my feet were burned walking from my lounger to the water. I didn't want to get my sandals wet, so next time I'll bring something that I can either wear IN the water or leave right at water's edge.
Great show. I find that what you said applies to other cruise lines as well. I also pack Gatorade or some kind of electrolyte powders with me. And my hubby like to pack some kind of nuts. I bring Brazils as they are great for us with thyroid issues. So some extra small packable snacks for those day trips. Enjoy your cruise.
Take care if cruise travels to other countries. Food nuts etc coukd be prohibited to take off ship. Australia and NZ are examples. Fines are very significant. Passengers are warned
Hello Jason, this seems very reasonable allowed/prohibited liat from RC. I know that NCL has similar list as well, and sure other cruise lines follow suit. It is very helpful for new cruisers and cruise veterans as well. But always good to keep updated on any other changes that may come up in the future. I thank you for informing folks about this . Take care and be well to all.
Hi Michael! I appreciate you so much my Friend! Thanks for watching and chiming in. I am hopefully we will bump into you on a cruise one of these days!

Jason, it doesn't get any better than that. It's Fast, fun and fabulous! Thanks for the rapid fire info. BTW, ham radio was a huge thing on cruise ships some time ago. Love the content, thanks as always. Greg and Michele.
@Susan Pitman my guess is that there is so much electronics on today's ships that the radios would cause too much interference. Also the antennas would need to be constructed outside on the balconies.

I always make a habit the only stuffs in my carry on is my supplies of my meds, sanitizer, small toiletries that I need for bathroom stops and passport and money’s and cc should be in my purse with lock so if your state room is not ready it’s so convenient to wait. Like what Jayson said bring a bathing suite in your carry on and small sunscreen and you have a nice welcoming to your cruise ship
Love your channel! A point of clarification about “illegal drugs”…. Even if marijuana is legal in your state or even if you have a prescription, marijuana is still not allowed.
88+ cruises never been asked about my typical carry on luggage (old at this point) and I NEVER check a bag on airlines, trains or ships. and I am a minimalist and go a month in that tiny carry on 17x24 inch with a small purse. people over pack. ridiculous. then again, to each their own problems. 40+ years of travel - i wouldn't let my luggage out of my site. people are stupid when it comes to travel, and so much more.

Interesting about the extension cords as they weren’t able to supply them on our last cruise! In the past a power strip was lumped into extension cords. We’ve had a lot of discussions about theses bans as often you need them pre-cruise. So far with the exception of one cruise we’ve managed to retrieve the power cords and strips when we’ve had to identify them for security. Only once did they need to have an electrician certify the power strip because they could not provide an equivalent that was useable with US plugs. Fortunately, ships are starting to put plugs near the bed but not always on both sides so even then we’ve need the strip.
On the 12 pack, I thought it was one per person but I think you just said per stateroom. This is my 1st RC cruise but Carnival allowed one 12 pack per person in the stateroom so I wanted to ask you.
I heard recently that if you want to use pill boxes, use your phone and take a photo of the labels. The information you gave was specific to Royal so if that’s the last word go with that. But maybe other lines are allowing the label photos. I bring everything in my bottles cause I don’t trust, that I won’t leave something behind. Plus, maybe they will extend my cruise, that might be nice.
About the bag tags....make sure you change the bag tags from the previous cruise. 😮 Our largest suitcase was delayed until late the second night because I forgot to change the tag. It went to 9 aft (location of last stateroom) and we were in 7 Forward. I had and AirTag in it but really didn’t work because it was in the hallway and not many people around usually,
I had the same problem, except the tag was from a different ship two weeks prior. I spoke to the housekeeping manager for my floor about my dilemma, my luggage was found and delivered to my room in a surprisingly timely fashion.
One question I can't seem to get an answer on anywhere is non alcoholic beer. I don't know if that is allowed as carryon OR if it is even included in the Refreshment package. Does anyone know for sure?
I know that many of the cruise lines have similar rules but they also have their variations on things too, so with that said could you please do another video like this outlining rules for Carnival and NCL too?
For the bottled water that you can bring on board, do you have to pack that in the backpack you carry with you on to the ship, or can it be packed into the suitcase you check with the porters when you arrive?
I was told by Royal it has to be carried yourself, not given to the porters. 12 bottles of water per cabin, not per person. They also raised the price of a 24 pack of evian they deliver to your room, is now almost $70 plus 18% gratuity. Thats nuts!!
Thank you for the info! We’re going on a cruise in July. I can understand the Original medicine bottles, but I’m wondering about my B12 & Fish oil capsules. I take them every day but the bottles are huge!

The TSA has nothing to do RC wine allotment. Find out from your airline how much wine should be packed. I would NEVER put wine in my checked luggage ( I do not think you are allowed to put bottles of wine in your carry on.) we always fly in the day before and purchase wine in the city we are cruising from.
Packing light with a carry on fixes this, but will second a second bathing suit as a malfunction in hot tub bleached mine. Leave room and pick up souvenirs to take home
hi! i’m going on my first royal cruise in january. do you know about portable fans? i’m wanting to purchase a metal 12 inch fan from home depot and i’d really like to bring it. Any idea ? thank you
one of the medications i need to take is done by a syringe injection- I would assume it's fine because it's medically required for me, but I don't want it taken from me last minute. i didn't see anything listed on their website that prohibits needles, but nothing saying it was allowed either. does anyone know the rule on this?
@@raeannfernandez-spicer8401 i asked my friend who frequently cruises the other day and he wasn't for sure but said he assumed it would allowed... I ended up googling it again just now and I found this in the FAQ on RC's website: "In order to ensure the safe disposal of sharp items such as needles, syringes, lancets or other sharp objects while onboard, our Stateroom attendants have access to sharps containers, which can be provided to you to keep in your stateroom." it was still not listed as explicitly allowed or not allowed, however the wording implies such items are allowed since we are able to have a sharps container for them in our room!
@@merediths2cents They provide laundry service. My understanding is that you get a laundry bag and they charge about $35 US per bag to wash, dry, and fold your clothes. I don't know how much the bag holds. You can find a laundry at a port, maybe, but a shore excursion to a laundromat doesn't sound like much fun. You can wash clothes in the bathroom sink and hang them in the shower to dry. Or you can just pack enough clothes to last for the whole time. I was on a Princess Cruise two years ago, and they have self service laundry rooms on each cabin deck. But Royal Caribbean doesn't.
Man I have searched their website I guess I’m gonna have to give them a call the last time which was in 2022 they took my fan what do you know of our fans it is only a 6 1/2 inch electrical fan that clips on the side of the bed or nightstandcarnival does not have an issue with it, but Royal does apparently any recommendation where I could find information on the fans
i’m very late but does the extension cord rule apply to like a power strip/adapter? between my bf and myself we need lots of plugs to charge our electronics, so i was planning to bring a power strip with usb plugs on it as well
I fly domestic and intl few times every month. My 4 prescriptions are in a quart size bag thrown together . No tsa agent has ever questioned me. No royal carib.

With the wine will tsa allow you to pass with it if it the right requirements? Wanted to make sure this will be my first cruise.
Bug spray eh?
I will add that to my packing list.
Excited to hear about your RC cruise!
Hi Doodie! Yes, we are excited as well!
Great video❤ I never thought about bug spray and a few other things u mentioned. Do u have a video on disabled info while cruising? Thank u
Thanks for the information
Hi Jane! Thank you so much for watching!
Am I allowed to bring a regular sized bottle of sunscreen?
Is the luggage tag thing for people with checked bags? I’m bringing a carry on and a personal item
hi! i’m going on my first royal cruise in january. do you know about portable fans? i’m wanting to purchase a metal 12 inch fan from home depot and i’d really like to bring it. Any idea ? thank you
You can request a fan from the cruise line
one of the medications i need to take is done by a syringe injection- I would assume it's fine because it's medically required for me, but I don't want it taken from me last minute. i didn't see anything listed on their website that prohibits needles, but nothing saying it was allowed either. does anyone know the rule on this?
I was just wondering the same thing. One of my medications is via needle. I hope we can get some intel on this.
@@raeannfernandez-spicer8401 i asked my friend who frequently cruises the other day and he wasn't for sure but said he assumed it would allowed... I ended up googling it again just now and I found this in the FAQ on RC's website:
"In order to ensure the safe disposal of sharp items such as needles, syringes, lancets or other sharp objects while onboard, our Stateroom attendants have access to sharps containers, which can be provided to you to keep in your stateroom."
it was still not listed as explicitly allowed or not allowed, however the wording implies such items are allowed since we are able to have a sharps container for them in our room!
If embarking in the USA and flying in from abroad print your ESTA approval and bring in carry on.
Can I bring my beats pill speaker?
Do they have laundry facilities on board? Going on a 9 day and would rather do a load of laundry.
No laundry facilities on Royal Caribbean. You have to pay for them to do your laundry.
@@marksieving7925 thank you. Any other advice? I haven’t been on a cruise in 25 years…
@@merediths2cents They provide laundry service.
Great video. To the point. Love it.
Does any body know about rules on heatings pads?
i’m very late but does the extension cord rule apply to like a power strip/adapter? between my bf and myself we need lots of plugs to charge our electronics, so i was planning to bring a power strip with usb plugs on it as well
You can get power hubs that directly plug into the outlet without a cord. It must not have any kind of surge protection.
I fly domestic and intl few times every month. My 4 prescriptions are in a quart size bag thrown together . No tsa agent has ever questioned me. No royal carib.
can i take a gallon of distilled water for my cpap
Thnx for info and the Vidoe ....good one ....
Thank you for the handcuffs heads up!!! 😂😂
No CBD? 😭 I used cbd oil for my joint pain. 😞
Me too!! I came here to see if that is addressed anywhere but this is the first comment I’ve seen on CBD oil 🤷♀️
Love, love your channel. Always direct and to the point. Thank you
No ham radios, but they allow Family Radio Service units. These are the unlicensed pocket transmitters that are near one of the ham bands.
Quick question can I bring a soft sided luggage such as a duffle type bag or should I get hard sided luggage? I'm asking because I'm going on my first ever cruise and it will be on Wonder Of The Seas in 35 days so I would like to know in advance I thank you for any answers provided.
