Great video and that location looked awesome I haven't fished a place like that yet looks great. Shame about the cod but the conger where awesome!!!! Great stuff. Tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
I'd have paid good money to see you mud wrestling with that eel 🤣🤣....not sure who would win ...but great start to the series look forward to the next one
Cracking video guys I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your Cod Chronicles. I've always wondered about fishing the Magor ledges if you've any tips on fishing there it'll be really appreciated. Keep the vids coming boys All the best, Dorian 🏴
Not what you were targeting. But still some nice size eels. Riverside with me reckons there are the old and new tide sizes around Newport. The new ones being lower than the old ones if that makes sense. Maybe that's why it was higher than you thought. 🎣
Hi Ian, always used the arrowsmith book and use Cardiff scale ads reference for size it was forecast to be a tad over 10 meters Cardiff but it come up the bank a lot more than we anticipated. Thanks for watching
Any chance you can video the walk out to the ledges on your next video? Always wanted to fish the ledges at Magor but unsure of safest way to access them
My local mark fished it for over 30 years sadly the rewards are not worth the mud for me I think there’s more chance of catching a thorn back than a whiting there these days I’ve caught a few doubles but last one was November 1995 For me mid November is your best chance here Good luck chaps
Hello from Texas. Just found your channel. What were the long fish? Conger eel? Do you fish the ledges when the tide is up? Or do you still launch your baits out?
Thanks for watching! Yes, the long fish are Conger Eels. We fish two hours or so either side of high tide. We usually fish this area on smaller tides so we don’t get pushed back as far as we did on this day. We usually cast as far as we can (in to the deep water) and we try to retrieve the fish up and over the peat ledges.
Hi boys we are after a bit of info coming from swansea for the bristol channel right of the new bridge what height tides is best to fish there low up etc any info would be great 🐟👍
For any of the peat ledges you want as small a tide as possible. Calmer weather is also preferred. Most of the marks will give you around 2.5 hours of the flood up to high and 2 hours back on the ebb. There are low water marks but they are very dangerous so we won’t list them here. Sudbrook area can be fished on bigger tides, again over high water. The sea wall at Redwick can be fished on mid range tides (high water) from the top of the grass. If you respect your car don’t attempt to drive to the sea wall down the lane from the farm. Best to park in the village and walk the lane. Farmfields again is fishable on very small (neap) tides either side of high water. Goldcliff is a mark we don’t fish but is an option over high on bigger tides, as is the St Brides area but the cod are few and far between there.
If you search “Veals Bristol Channel marks” on Google you will find a great page on info for that area. If you have any issues get back to us. All the best 👍🏼
Hi Luke; really sorry I think we went out 8-10 times looking for for this winter and only had a few strap eels, pouting and rockling for the effort. Just 1 or 2 fish a session and nowhere near enough content to create a video. Really sorry but hopefully it will be bigger and better next year, only 6 months until they show at chesil 💪💪🎣🎣🎣
When the cod start it's going to get very busy there, good vlog, very enjoyable..... 🐟🐟🐟🏴🇫🇷
There were 6 there on that day but like you said it will only get busier. Thanks for watching
