i play with a house rule especially if we have someone new. Everyone ask questions in sequence, if you are unable to think of a question on your turn, you are allowed to pass. This way everyone is involved.
Rewatching this again. It’s so fun to watch you guys, I just got my copy today after I saw it was immediately restocked in my place. So pumped and excited to play this with my group!❤❤❤
I've had a blast with Werewords since I got my hands on a copy last year. It's probably my most-played game over the past year; every time I've introduced it to new players with the intention of playing a few games of it and then trying something else, we end up playing it for hours. I've glad it's up for the SdJ and I'm glad that the BGG crew played it for GameNight! Hopefully it gets even more exposure and finds a lot of new fans who can enjoy it.
@My Cat's Breath Smells Like Cat Food 4 definitely isn't where it shines the most, but it still gives you the same gameplay because it's still only a 1 out of 4 chance and you have fewer people thinking of questions/answers, so it ends up being about as difficult
I would have done the same but in hindsight if they think it means 'partially' or 'sometimes,' it gets tough. I could see someone throw a "so close" on it because if they continue with materials and guess paper, they got a good chance of guessing it. Or maybe that would have been worse? Anyway, cool game!
Why, oh why, would Lincoln accuse someone of being the seer? Never ever accuse someone of being the seer unless you're the werewolf!!! And why were the first two seers both so quiet? You can't win at all if the seer doesn't help at least a little!
Being the Seer is a tricky role, as Lincoln pointed out. This is also a game where everyone gets a bit better the more you play... so, people sort of start getting in the groove of how to play with the Seer over time. :-) It's definitely hard the first game or two.
@@KabukiKid Both the werewolf and the seer are hard. If you're too quiet, you're going to be tagged as the werewolf. So you have to ask questions that don't give any information, without being obvious about it. With the seer, it's about peppering your useful questions with enough random ones that it's not obvious, as well as looking for opportunities to use others' answers to clarify. For example, when they got the "maybe" on wood, that's a good time to ask "is it made of something that is made of wood?"
It probably depends on where you live. I live in the country and agree that hottubs are primarily outside. I'm guessing they live in the city, and they're usually part of the bathroom. They're usually smaller and not the kind of big hottubs we think about.
As they were explaining some of the roles at the end, they were slightly off. The Minion is on the Werewolf team, but they simply know who the Werewolves are, not anything else. I believe a vote for the Minion as the Werewolf does not win the game for the villagers. So he's a distraction
Do you guys think that technological integration is the way to go for future boardgames? I like that it's like a NPC in a boardgaming world but if there are games that are heavily requiring technology, you can't reliably play this game in a prolong outdoor environment.
Amateur Boardgamer I like the idea of app integration. I game solo a lot so games like Mansions of Madness 2e are a welcome addition to my collection. I would’ve never played MoM otherwise. I love the idea that an app can used to simulate a DM or possibly even an opponent. As far as playing outdoors, you could use multiple devices or, like myself, get a portable battery charger.
Not necessarily, for example I actively dislike Chronicles of Crime for how heavy the app integration is. I think part of the appeal of board game is the tactile aspect, so technology for any use besides bookkeeping seems more like a gimmick, at least for the moment.
Jason Cheng I kinda agree that the tactile feel is important for a boardgame. Otherwise it will start becoming a physical video game. Regardless, I believe the most important thing is the social interaction and how people can have leisure fun together. Not many activities nowadays (in which you can sit in a room) that you can have fun together while almost directly interacting with one another.
The app makes a lot of sense in this game, but I agree that if the game depended on it this would be a problem. Actually it doesn't, though. The game comes with clear instructions on how to play it app-less.
One of the things I like best about board games is that it's a chance to disconnect from the digital world for a while. Plus the tactile experience of handling game components is really nice and you get to keep playing if you forget your charger.
I love (hate) how Dave keeps saying "CONVINCE ME!!!" when he's the loudest, most talkative person at the table, and there's only a minute to argue and he uses up all the time talking over everyone.
This is the first GameNight! Video I wasn't really a fan of. Having two people that really don't seem to be having fun makes the video less fun. Which stinks because I love the group and I love watching you guys play party games.
Have I got this right? - if everyone guesses the word then the werewolf gets to pick the seer? If this is the case then surely the werewolf player would want them to get the word since the werewolf player is then not being called out by the other players?
i'm a bit confused... when you all outed Nikki as the Seer surely if you'd picked the right Werewolf in Kevin, he'd then have been able to pick Nikki as the Seer and win the game? Or am I misunderstanding a rule?
Arcee ah so default is the werewolf wins if they get the word wrong. I see! Thanks that sort of makes sense. I kinda still wanted to see Kevin try and work out who the seer was too.
Thank you for this episode, very timely since I was interested in getting it for an upcoming gathering, we used to play mafia a lot in college. Unfortunately, I think it was kind of a miss for your group given you had 1 very quiet person and 2 others with limited participation (Rusty and Kevin). Social deduction games don’t really work if you don’t interact, and in a group of 6 when you have half of the people not actively engaging, it’s very evident and I think the game suffered as a result (I’m leaning towards no at the moment). I am an introvert myself so I actually identify with Nikki and there are social games like Celebrities I refuse to play, but for games like Insider and mafia (which I prefer to moderate) I do okay because I think my enjoyment of deduction is greater than my fear of socializing. Anyway, I did have a rules question which I don’t think was addressed, what if the mayor is the card in the center when you deal out the roles in secret?
Jason Cheng it would be clear that no one is mayor given that no one would be turning over their cards. I don’t have the game but I’m guessing you either take a non mayor role out at random before distributing (which would eliminate the issue you are raising) or redistributing the roles.
I have a great dislike (if not fear) of social deduction games, but I can sort of see the point of this one. Possibly more so if anyone guessed anything correctly...
Deborah ftw! More games with her please 😁
She is great, I love the innocent aura around she emits. :)
Yes please. And she put her acting skills to good use too.

I am going to play this with my family today, we have never played before. This is a brilliant rule and I’m sure it will work well! Thank you so much!
Rusty's wood question was so perfect.
They needed to follow up with a clarifier. "Is it made of a wood product?" That leads to paper, which from there, it's easy.
"Exciting little channel..."
Only just the best channel on UA-cam!
Deborah is the best. More games with her please! Her reactions and emotions are so honest and pure!
This group is cool wow, time to binge watch this channel!!!!!!

I'll be the first to admit: I played this game poorly. I NEED ANOTHER CHANCE.
oh my god i love dave. everything he does makes me laugh xD.

Honestly, they were doomed when she chose "hot tub" over the much easier "peas" even though she knew they didn't have a Seer helping them out.
Ye, peas is way easier.
This game is virtually flawless. It always seems to make its way to my table, whether we have 4 people or 10. Nice play through as always
@My Cat's Breath Smells Like Cat Food 4 definitely isn't where it shines the most, but it still gives you the same gameplay because it's still only a 1 out of 4 chance and you have fewer people thinking of questions/answers, so it ends up being about as difficult
This game is obviously not Nikki's cup of tea. Being a quiet person can't be fun for this type of game.
I'm a quiet person and I like these kind of games.
I'm another quiet person and detest Werewolf games, despite my moniker
I agree with Deborah's :maybe: answer to "is it made of wood", I would have done the same. First thing was :maybe: when I heard the question.
That would have been a good use of "so close".
That's not as bad as Nikki's "no" answer to a hot tub being outside, and "yes" to it being in the bathroom.

Really enjoy watch you playing. I'll buy this one. Thanks!
These social deduction games are always fun to watch.
Why did Nicki say no when Dave asked if it’s primary found outside?? That is obviously a “yes” answer and she wasn’t even the werewolf!
It probably depends on where you live. I live in the country and agree that hottubs are primarily outside. I'm guessing they live in the city, and they're usually part of the bathroom. They're usually smaller and not the kind of big hottubs we think about.
Deborah is gorgeous. Thanks for playing.
Great fun - my youth group love this game!
Good stuff
I would add a "technically correct" token for things like wood/paper :)
That is the best kind of correct.
Nah, the trick is thinking colloquially. If someone asked you what is an envelope made of, I seriously doubt you would answer “wood”!
Nikki did not look like she was enjoying herself at all this game. Still a fun watch!
Wait? How’d you get Deb on there? That’s awesome.
Is she from true blood?

Kevin is so awesome!
No, you are!
00:45: Did Deborah say, "Can you teach us Werewords?" or "Can you teach us swear words?"
I'd love for Deborah to teach me some swear words ... sorry, couldn't resist :)
This game should be right up Deborah's alley, being a vampire and all... ;-)
TheRmm1976 that would be one night ultimate vampire lol
This made me laugh more than it should of done lol
This reminds me the board game "Insider"
A better copy
can you do jaws? more deb too. thanks

I must say I watched this and Polygon’s video on it back to back
my housemate bought were words quite a while ago and at the local game store though we havent played much its been very fun all the time

Villagers, mayors and a medieval cash register :)
Does Nikki know what a hot tub is?????
Tobias Funke especially since she thought they weren’t found outside!
She might’ve been talking about jacuzzis
@@rosearachnid879 a hot tub IS a jacuzzi lol
I loved True Blood :D
I would say hot tubs are primarily found outside, that was a bad answer imo.

If the seer is to obvious, the werewolf could just guess the word and pick out the seer.
i'm a bit confused... when you all outed Nikki as the Seer surely if you'd picked the right Werewolf in Kevin, he'd then have been able to pick Nikki as the Seer and win the game? Or am I misunderstanding a rule?
No. Whichever side loses the word game guesses.

This looks hella fun - Does it work well with only 4 players?
What happens when nobody chooses the mayor role card during first pick?
You just shuffle and distribute the roles again. It happens once in a while.
Psst... olives grow on trees. ;-)
But not olive oil
I'd still answer that it grows on trees.
@@KabukiKid
And chocolate grows on trees and bread on the fields?
remember that he was the werewolf...
When you really want to play this game but don't have enough friends... 😭
Im A little star struck with Deborah Ann.......
got to agree with Lincoln .. all the additional roles just clutter and confuse the game
The contrast is a bit too high or something on this set of videos, the shadows went a bit too dark.
I have a great dislike (if not fear) of social deduction games, but I can sort of see the point of this one. Possibly more so if anyone guessed anything correctly...
Would love to see you guys play Wingspan or Architects of the West Kingdom!
I am SO sorry that I had to increase the number of likes on this video, because somehow 666 likes seemed so appropriate.
Wait...is that Deborah Ann Woll? What the crap? I'm following this channel.
When I heard the game's voice I thought "Is that Optimus Prime?"
GG - Called Rusty - Made Solid - True Card-Shark :) ;)
So did Kevin not know Olives grow on trees or was that a Werewolf lie?
Skyler Ishmael olive oil doesn’t grow on trees so it’s probably a lie that he could plausibly deny once the word is revealed
lol... that is definitely a technical way to be evil. ;-)
Yes, I literally did not know that. 🧐
It seems that someone can't wait to know which one is gonna be Das Spiel des Jahres...
Seems like a really down year for the award
There's a definite correlation between hot tub and pee.
I'll let myself out.
Is 4 minutes not long enough??
OMG IT'S KAREN PAGE
Mayors kept ignoring Nikki's questions :(
Nikki is a very very bad on this game, it is really frustrating, why isn't she trying to enjoy the game ?
Probably because these hidden role games aren't fun for many people, myself included.
Oh my 😯 Deborah is the copycat of Jessica Hamby in True Blood 😯😯😯
Deborah is, in fact, the actress who played Jessica Hamby. She's a gamer, too. -WEM
first round was off the rails .... olive is not a vegetable so good lie there!
No disrespect but Nikki is TERRIBLE at this game 😂
Too fiddly for what it is.
Olives aren't vegetables, they're fruit haha
