Boston, Lincolnshire has an incredible medieval church “St Botolph's Church, Boston”, with an exquisite tower that is one of the tallest (‘parish church’) towers in Europe. The building is incredibly fine, not to mention large, for such a small town and includes intricately carved 14th century misericords. This culminated in the independence of Brazil when the prince (the one inheriting the throne) effectively declared the independence of Brazil from his own kingdom, sticking as "the emperor of Brazil" and leaving his older daughter as queen of Portugal.
