Why must the budget cuts only be for the department of education?? Every teacher has a critical post... and we need so many more teachers.. classes are so overcrowded.. The DA wants more money in Education portfolio so that they can take it somewhere else like they have done before. Don't you all remember that the premier took about 1 billion from the Education and Health Departments?

There is 45 + learners in a class some classes 50 + . For one teacher ! The working conditions to top off is extremely challenging . This is about learners and their development but also educators livehoods
Why does national govt not give a bigger cut for education from provinces whose learners have migrated to the Western Cape. Teachers in the Western Cape have to educate the masses of learners coming in from other provinces, so it is only fair that they should get a bigger cut of the pie to pay for more educators. Maybe it is time that teachers indefinitely take to the streets again, like back in the mid to late eighties.
Another storm in a teacup. Basically , almost nobody is going to lose a job and the teacher cuts are mostly taken up through attrition. The outcry should be about State budget cuts .
What happened to each teacher must have 40 learners max, currently i have 60+ learners and it is difficult to ensure learners get quality education education and give them attention all of them, so when they remove about 2000 teachers, so it means each teacher will have about 100 learners +.
Educators are sitting with learners over 40 plus not the total you saying it should be. Classrooms are to small to accedate learners over 40 if you loose teachers.

Some schools keep retired teachers from 65 to 70 years old via the SGB, really sad for younger teachers.
