I feel like mental health tech need to be paid more for the job duties they do. I am looking into becoming a peer support specialist which you support a person with mental health issues or drug and alcohol addiction. But to be a peer support specialist you need to be diagnosed with mental health diagnosis or alcohol addiction diagnosis in order to be peer support specialist. Please do a video on this.
It is difficult to get more pay when it comes to mental health work bcuz of low funding from the government. Private places might pay more bcuz they charge more, but public/state-funded facilities depend on funding for their staff salary. I will try in the future, been busy. However, I can only talk about the basics of it bcuz I only hear about it from my co-workers, not first-hand experience. It makes sense for peer support to have the diagnosis for understanding and connection/relatability. For example, I had a bad depression in college & have to see a school therapist & mentor who deal with it in the past. My healthcare friends might know something about it, but they don't know the headspace that I am in since they don't have first-hand exp.

I got a master of health administration (MHA) during the lockdown (gotta be productive). Now, I'm working as a healthcare auditor to learn more.

I start training as Mental Health Technician in a few weeks. I am very nervous.
