A good solution to avoid sorting is build more , more , more so less pieces to sort , less storage needed. you could build a sorting machine with lego !
Personally I actually equally enjoy the organization aspect (but I totally understand those who don’t!) I don’t have a lot of money so I’ve been using lego boxes to make compartments in my sterilite drawers and its not perfect but it’s cheap and it means more money available to spend on lego! Plus when my few drawers fill up, it just becomes incentive to add to my mocs. It is always really satisfying though to finish sorting where everything has a space.
I LOVE organization and sorting, but you are right Lego is already pricy and organization is another added cost! I definitely need to set up a better system for my pieces, which to me will be a super fun task but not fun for my wallet😅
Im 100% in agreement here. I love to organizing part of Lego. Its so soothing and fun, and super fulfilling at the end to look at what youve gotten done. Honestly, i will go online and look for people selling bins of random Lego stuff and buy it for the sole purpose of cleaning and sorting it, and only for that. I dont need any of it for a build or anything, i just wanna sort it. Im like that with my other hobby also. Im big into large scale RC cars, gas powered. My favorite part about it is working on them, taking them apart, upgrading parts on it, putting it back together, just tinkering. I enjoy that way more than actually starting and driving it around in the yard lol
Emily,. I personally hate sorting Legos, it's so time consuming. Over this past year I have sorted about 30,000 pieces and was close to banging my head off the wall. What's depressing is that I realized that after sorting all those parts ,that sorting will be an never ending task in the future. Love your videos Emily keep up the good work
Another tip if you're going to store stuff in pab cups, definitely consider buying a over the door shoe holder and using that to hold the pick-and-brick cups maybe label the pick and brick cups with some labels
Seriously, don't you ever look at the dollar store for some of your containers? Way cheaper. Mine has those white 8.99 open bins you got...1.25 each. Just my opinion, but there are other options.
Sorting isn't my favorite thing to do. Especially when it's a huge bin of pieces of all types. And then to put them in the storage solution by part...alot of work.
Sort by piece type, not color. Sorting by color looks nicer but sorting by piece type saves time as it is easier to find the needed color when all the pieces are the same type.
I've been collecting Lego for years now and have a massive amount of "s0are" lego parts. The thought of having all my extra Lego pieces all organized is very satisfying but... figuring out where or how to start organizing all the extra pieces is overwhelming/stressful. I have several large containers full of Lego pieces as well as tons of Lego heads full of Lego pieces. This is a project my wife and I plan on doing soon. I know ot eill be very satisfying once compared it's just how and where to start is the stressful part... lol! Keep up the great work! We love watching your channel!
Ikea has their own bins now, they come in all kinds of sizes and they can also be connected together and it can even extend a bit so you can customize the length of them!
After I saw your original video I got 4 of those display cases for my minifigures from the container store, and I went to the website you linked for the backgrounds and printed out the Marvel & DC templates and they turned out really cool! They look even better with the small clear bar with angled stud “action pose” pieces that came in both those series, so you can pose the figures on their stands in different actions. Thanks again for sharing that original video and linking the website for the templates (I can’t remember the name of it lol)
The worst part about Lego, and everybody knows it, is the high cost! It really should be in the 3 to 4 cents per piece instead of the current price of 8 to 14 cents they charge. It is just plastic afterall.
I love organizing and collecting probably more than I like building, though with that said, I enjoy MOC building a lot more than designed sets. I 100% agree that LEGO is expensive enough without the combined expense of organization, storage and display. I had a custom acrylic case made for the 71040 Disney Castle that cost nearly as much as the castle itself, totally worth it though to NEVER have to dust it again! One quick wipe to a smooth surface, yes please.
Just got back from buying zip lock freezer bags to take apart sets and store them safely back in their boxes. I think ultimately our craving for lego tends to go beyond that which our homes can handle. I am starting to fall down that modular building rabbit hole. I have the Hotel, Police station and bookshop and am considering buying The diner and corner garage. With limited space it's a question of take something down to make way for something new. If I get the diner the bookshop is going back in it's box.
What a full day! Wish we had that LEGO assortment at the Costco's here in Canada. Last time I was there were remnants of those Technic cars and a palette of a bulk box. No Advent calendars oddly. Costco Pumpkin pie rules!
I didn't think I'd hate Blizzard Entertainment while watching an Emmasaurus vlog, but that development regarding the first Overwatch is insulting to those who played it.
Awesome... Someone else parks next to the cart corral on purpose. On rare occasion, I park close to the store, I'll super push the cart back to the store, near their cart entrance. LOL But, I also remember life before cart corrals.
I told myself that I would build a LEGO city using all the pieces I already had and would not buy any sorting bins. Fast forward 4 months and I am completely stuck.
Ever since covid I went through my place and got rid of a ton of unnecessary stuff. My storage room was a nightmare. Now it's a big LEGO room that's setup like a little store. I still have to juggle more stuff as my place has a bunch of sealed and built sets on display in every room! 💀 Plus I have a curious kitty so I can't leave out LEGO near floor level or she'll think it's hers.😸 I have about 500+ sets according to brickset & I have to keep reassessing displays and space. I'm eventually gonna run out of room in like 2 years I think... 😅 And I hate leaving out LEGO that isn't on good display so I either break it down partially or totally and put it in big ziplock bags then into my storage containers for future projects.
I'm really digging the white containers they look so clean and tidy. As for the lego technic cars they are very slippery slope to go down. Just like the speed champions you will want to collect every one and try to make your own mocs howlever the difference is speed champions is relatively stay the same size as for technic it's all over place with the scaling. I would definitely recommend picking up some technic though every now and again and see if you're digging it. 🐾
yeah organization is the worst part but once you understand your buy style you will kind of plan ahead a bit. a city takes organization to a different level because of the type of bricks to have a robust city.
There r equivalent bins for those white bins u got, at target for a 3rd the price for a 3 pack, just fyi. Also, don't go into buying technic cars using ur opinion of Speed Champs. Not at all the same experience
I have this problem as well but luckily right in front of my Lego store is a container store so if I think I'm going to need storage I usually just go there and buy one but lately I've been really good for storage I sort differently than you do though I think I sort by part not by color
Another good tip is when you go to the Lego store make sure you take one empty drawer of each size out of the containers you use in your drawers so that you can decide how many of each part you need when you buy a pab cup sometimes there's you only need like a small drawer of a certain part sometimes you want a larger drawer it depends on like if you're using acromils or The container store has some similar products
Lego sorting isn't easy, and the better storage solutions are expensive, like the akro mils drawers. I had to get cheaper drawers which aren't as good, since those were within my budget
I am waiting for the container store near me to get the displays back in. Need 3 myself. Also did you get my package I sent to your PO Box? It contains a container store display part I think you may like. I need a professional opinion.
Fair! The cost is definitely terrible. But after spending $$$ on LEGO, it hurts spending even more just to contain it 🥲 we are fortunate to be able to enjoy the hobby in the capacity that we do, but … yikes at the price of storing everything 😳
Don't feel bad spending so much money on storage. Storage is a 3rd the cost of the Lego hobby and for u it is also a job so it's understandable. And since I love organizing ur parts so much to the point where it's "therapeutic", feel free to organize mine.
If you have an HEB close by in Austin, during Thanksgiving they have their scratch made pumpkin cream cheese pies. They are delicious and taste homemade.
I’m taking a break from Lego! It’s too addictive and takes up too much space! Also the price increases that Lego made caused me to look and say that’s enough. I hate clutter and Lego causes uncontrollable clutter. Have a good week 👍🏻
My plan has all way s bean have lots of Lego. But less draw bins .but I you's tubs for good set s that not on desplay and extra part in lock tight bags.in tubs. . but less bin s draws the better as thay take up more space .an wasting Mony on them .
I’m good my to be honest your city has never looked good and your just trying to go over the top it still looks bad just keep it simple relax and slow down and stop buying sets that are not necessary
#Emily Did you Ask Costco Wear House Manager to see if you can Film in the Wear House for #UA-cam? And what did they say to You? Did you ask them at all? I have good shopping for Lego tactic .I not buy from Lego shop as paying extra 15 to 25 30 35 on-top of price so K mart and target are best add not all ways as Manny of the top saleing sets an at times thay do. Toy shop hear an target sale more so at Lego shop price so I don't buy from them unless %25 to 45 % of. To play it smart ..Manny not thinking about how much extra thay paying on set s in them three shop hear an in USA .toy r us .not Shaw if better than Lego shop price s as we don't have toys r us now days..best way to shop smart I say
Princess Peche I so need and Yoshi bean wighting for price to drop 25 to 30 think Mario was 65 ish .but hope to find the other two at cheeper price .45 ish on %of sale Sean them at 75 I wight a little as lots around 😊🥷😴😊✌️💥

i love that you have a store literally called "the container store" - straight to the point haha
Im 100% in agreement here. I love to organizing part of Lego. Its so soothing and fun, and super fulfilling at the end to look at what youve gotten done. 5:40 Well I'm also like that, but I also don't really consider myself normal, so I can't help you with that 😂🤣

People that give out full size candy bars are objectively better at Halloween.
I do not like large crowds at stores either. I like to have space to shop for what I need.
Sort by piece type, not color. Sorting by color looks nicer but sorting by piece type saves time as it is easier to find the needed color when all the pieces are the same type.
Great vlog! I love watching videos about lego organization idk what it is lol. Please share an after of your lego city room!

I use the same ikea Alex drawers and mini container technique 😄 didn’t know all lego minds think alike
Thanks for the Costco tip. I hadn't been in a while, but I went yesterday and picked up the Mandalorian N1 Starfighter and Olivia's Space Academy.
Ikea has their own bins now, they come in all kinds of sizes and they can also be connected together and it can even extend a bit so you can customize the length of them!
Shout out to Austin!! I’m a 2nd gen born and raised. My 7 y/o is into lego and we desperately need organization and display help!

I use empty tea boxes and boxes that I craft myself out of thick paper. Costs (next to) nothing. Only the drawers you have to buy.
0:55 its __________ time

For the white bricks, try using colored bins. Makes the bricks easier to see.
Have to agree on the Lego organization. Displaying it is a big cost too.
Sorting LEGOs is my thing! It brings me my piece (peace) lol😂 #dadjokefail
I have never seen a container store! OMG I could seriously spend some money there!

Overwatch funeral 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Then party for the birth of Overwatch 2 😂

cheap solution. cut plastic water bottles containers in half and use those to store in sealed drawers.
Awesome... Someone else parks next to the cart corral on purpose.

Your Costco have Lego? O_o In ours in Canada, we pretty much have only 3-4 sets, including the advent calendars... Lucky you!
Love this Channel! Lego Forever! ^___^
85 degrees is cooling down to you??? lol that's a pretty hot day here in CO!
Away from inconsistency with their prices and set size, or amount of pieces per set
I dont like how mainly Star Wars gets all the love
I don't have that much money so I organize my Lego in ziploc bags lol 😂

Do you look containers in the dollar tree? Would be much cheaper that way
The worst part of Lego is the price of sets.

Not collection getting rid of my collection just too much can’t put the sets anywhere ran out of room. Only keeping the sets I truly want 😢.
Where did you get your shirt from, I love it
RIP Overwatch
Worst is cost but been able to find sets 50% on OfferUp. Just like army, don’t ask don’t tell where they get them from 😂
Fair! The cost is definitely terrible. But after spending $$$ on LEGO, it hurts spending even more just to contain it 🥲 we are fortunate to be able to enjoy the hobby in the capacity that we do, but … yikes at the price of storing everything 😳

You aren't a real collector unless you obsess about getting the right plastic soltions to store your plastic.
