I run a Tacoma that I built a bed on. Works really good. I built a full air suspension setup for it so it has no issues with weight. I load it and my skid loader and whatever pipe I need on my 40’ flatbed and when I get to a job I unload it and bounce it around to save the wear and tear on my new model dually. They’re great little rigs, mine has been virtually indestructible. If you don’t want to build a bed on your pickup, you can always just put together a little skid. That way all your stuff can be loaded/unloaded at once. You can put camper jacks on the 4 corners of it to make it real easy to pick it up out of your bed. Nothing is worse than loading and unloading loose bottles and cords and tools all the time. I’ve certainly been there. Good luck!
Man thats cool. When I started researching was under the impression a beginner needed a 3500 and a diesel. The tacoma is handleing it! Thanks for sharing.
Recently bought a PrimeWeld Mig and Plasma for a portable artuo around my farm. Im a big miller fan but i gotta give them props... SUPER impressed. It was a tough choice over the Vulcan but glad I made the choice to give PrimeWeld a shot.
I ran a 2017 Tacoma as a welding rig for a bit. Now I’m running a ram 2500. Still ain’t got an everyday engine drive though. I normally use a generator powering either a Lincoln 210mp or a fronius trans pocket. On the bigger jobs I whip out the sa200 trailer rig though.
Slick rig ! For the vise I’ve seen some good setups where you sleeve square tubing inside another square tube and when you open tailgate you slide it out a little past the end of tailgate and have a bolt to tension/lock it in place, then your done you slide it back in an close tailgate, people running tub rigs like yours do that and often screw piece of plate on tailgate and you end up with work bench with a vise on the side. Hopefully that helps somewhat
Great video. I just started my own fab business and am loading up everything in my Tacoma. I think I’m going to build a trailer though, because I’m pretty well maxed out in weight.
@@CM_Weld I have a Harbor Freight trailer. They’re actually pretty decent. I’m going to build a rack/cage for bottles, beef up the frame a bit, put a bigger axle on it, etc. In typical welder fashion, I’m going to build something that would have been cheaper to buy!
I wouldn’t arc gouge with it too much. It’s not wound to withstand gouging. The trailblazers are built to withstand it but the bobcats, same as the Hobart, are not. We burned up two bobcats in 2.5 weeks trying to repair the press that stamps out Jeep gladiator hardtops. They only had about 1500 hours on em. We got a big Lincoln vantage in after the second bobcat burned out and I brought in my Sa200. You can totally tell the difference gouging with the vantage over the Bobcat.
Hey man love your videos! I’m trying to start a side gig. Currently looking for a cheap machine to start out with. Is it ok to power with generator or should I not even try it. What’s the best option in your opinion
You can definitely power with a generator just make sure you can find one with constant power not one the fluctuates aka dirty power as it will potentially running your machine but I never had it happen just look at your welder specs and find a generator that can supply enough power so your running smooth!
Sweet setup! Absolutely a steal on the Hobart. You should be proud of what you’ve got together.
Yup! They're made by Miller

Cool to see your progress man. A few months ago I talked to you on ND here locally about getting your machine. It's nice to see you moving forward!! 😁
Hell yea much appreciated brotha

That’s awesome man how does it run are you happy with it so far?
@@CM_Weld Got the Mig 180 and Cut 60. Both flawless.
@@CPLBSS88 nice!!
Vice mounted. A plate bolted to the tailgate with a receiver tube

That’s pretty sweet man one day I’ll be able to upgrade the truck!

I just built a stand that slides into the trailer receiver.

Yea a trailer is not a bad idea I’ve thought about doing the same thing!

@@davidallsup2375 that’s sweet man you will have to post it up so I can check it out!
@@CM_Weld Will do!
Hell yeah bro. I have the same welder on my f-250. Runs great and will arc gouge and run a suitcase. Time to make some spools

great video, I am in the middle of building a new rig for GC but this time integrating my engine drive too. Don't work too hard brother.
That’s awesome man and I’ll try not to!
Do you need to cover the generator ? In case when it’s rained
No and I’ve never had a issue all electrical is covered pretty well
thanks@@CM_Weld

Can you show me where you got your lip springs
All pro off road local here in Fresno they are all pro hd springs
What suspension kit was used ?! Got a 16’ trying to get a machine
Bilstein 5100 in the front and 5160 for the rear along with all pro offraod hd leaf springs
Where do you plug that Vulcan in when using it out of the truck?
I plug it into the engine drive Hobart
Love the taco rig!!!!!
Where’s your respirator; if you’re welding galvanized materials? 🤷🏾♂️😱🤔
I sold my F350 and bought a taco. But I put everything on a trailer
I ended up doing the same thing have another video on that build as well work out nicely!
Convert to propane/oxygen so much cheaper
I agree and I think it cuts cleaner too that’s what I used at my last job
Lmao
