Jesus the King (Sermon Only)

In this Christmas reflection based on Matthew 2:1-12, we delve into the story of the wise men and their journey to find the newborn King, Jesus. The Magi, likely astrologers from the East, embarked on a spiritual quest to worship the prophesied Messiah. Their journey contrasts sharply with King Herod's hostility and the Jewish leaders' indifference. Herod saw Jesus as a threat to his power, while the religious leaders, despite knowing the prophecies, showed no interest in seeking the Messiah. The Magi, however, exemplified true worship by traveling great distances, bringing costly gifts, and bowing down before Jesus. This Christmas, we are challenged to examine our own responses to Jesus' kingship. Are we hostile, indifferent, or worshipful? The story of the Magi encourages us to offer our best to Jesus, whether it be our time, talents, or resources, and to worship Him with exceeding joy. As we prepare for Christmas, let us not just celebrate a holiday but truly honor the King who came to bring light and life to the world.
