Andris KM Perfect song to fly around to in the learjet.
+Ben Van Deventer trueeee! that and hold the line by toto! Also travelling the lands on a wayfarer
I don't remember it being in Law Abiding Citizen..what part was that?
Yup!!💯
Heard this song on the classic rock station while driving one night like 8 years back. Zoned out and completely ran a red light. Literally thought I was driving in GTA San Andreas...
+Mike Anderson Lol, right on bro.
+Similar Visuals I think we all heard this song on GTA San Andreas
+V99DoesEverything thats a video game?
yes you fucking idiot.
@@VDoesEverything Nope. I heard it when it was released! ;)
my dad thought this song was called livin in funk
darrell7878 It's a put on!!
College roommate thought it was livin in a truck
darrell7878 lol that’s hella funny
Fuck yeah best song of all time HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!

Flying to Las Venturas... Man I miss those days
Fantastik Gamer SAME HERE...
Fantastik Gamer feel ya dude
Fantastik Gamer I got the game on my phone I love it so much worth the money and space.
Fantastik Gamer Aahhh the nostalgia
I was watching Infiltrator thinking GTA lol ...now I know ...Wow the Who...amazing, I knew they were cool but damn this song is something else
First time I heard this song is when MTV played it back in the day. J. Enwinstle is one of the best bassist in rock history. R.I.P
This also is my favorite Who song ( i know i know)
I just love this song !
Thanks for posting
No doubt the best without Moon.
Mark Kelly nop
hearing the words"back in the day" and 'MTV' together makes me want to die
Mark Kelly lol, I was going to say, "Oh, sh*t, here come the Moonies!"
I personally prefer this type of straightforward playing. I can do 4 on the floor as a drummer all day long. :) and then sing lead.
Both Moon and Bonham had this enormous sound, although part of it is a big damn drum kit...i prefer the pre-clock track stuff, but if you're counting, it makes it hard if they make a mistake. Bonham has put in 5 on 4 counts. So you'd have to know right where it is and then inform the bassist.
Not a huge Who fan, but goddamn... this song.
GrandTheftRogue same here, this is such a good song
My favorite the who song.
My favorite who song as well! Badass to the core!
Hell yeah.
oh yaaaaaaaaa, but join together is cloooooooooose
the who?
lol
I set this as my alarm clock in the morning.
cool mate
THE INFILTRATOR brought me here
Youcef Mahdi
Great movie
Youcef Mahdi me to hahah loved it
Greatest driving song ever.. in the dead of night on the highway... when all you can see before you is the light from your headlights and the perfectly laid out tarmac that lead the few hundred miles to your destination as if it was made just for you... petal to floor as the engine roars fierce in the still of the night around you... and you are an unstoppable metal force cranking feel-good classics as if you were the only person alive while all your cylinders whine and your tires hum and your exhaust screams mercy as you blast down the highway at the decibel of a jet engine and you're shouting at the top of your lungs.. damn, it feels so damn good to be free.
All I can say is wow. That totally moved me. Rock on brother
+Kevin Farabaraharabara LMAO you should be a writer the way you describe this song is terrific lol
+Kevin Farabaraharabara When cycling too
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys by Traffic
and Closer to Home (long version) by Grand Funk Railroad
holy shit bro!!! well said!! u got me amped just reading your comment!!! fuckn true bro... PEACE and rock on!!
Damn Entwhistle and his mastery at bass! Can't stop listening!
Hugh Janus the bass is just so gnarly in this song
Thunderthumbs
For real though, Why isn't this song in GTAV?
+Trevor Philips It was in GTA San Andreas,I guess Rockstar Games doesn't repeat songs from other GTA soundtracks.
***** Don't forget Vib Ribbon.
***** Everything moves according to the song in that game.
+Trevor Philips Because it was on The Dust ;)
猫 シ Corp. Ah yes indeed!
Who else came from GTA San Andreas?
me!
Psycho Dad KDST
this aint no game son! put down your controller and get real
The Infiltrator , brings me back to this song ♥
It's not often you hear a Who track with Townshend on the vocals, but when he did, he knew he was going to blow you away. The best band to come out of West London, no questions asked, no quarter given. TURN IT PEOPLE!
GMC is ruining this song. People who never heard of The Who will always think of that stupid GMC ad when they hear this. I hope GMC paid a few million at least for it's use.
HighwayStuff GMC???
stan3
General Motors. It seems like every UA-cam video I open has that commercial in front of it using The Who's song.
Noooo, at least it keeps The Who buzzing around in your head. When I see that spot run I have that filthy groove in my head all day.
HighwayStuff Heard the commercial and knew it was a song from my youth, but there wasn't enough of the song to break through the fog. Google brought me hear in a single search. Amazing.
GMC makes shit cars.. Not even the WHO can help them sell them lead sleds
the MAGIC of THE WHO--what a song--incredible
all you had too do was follow the damn train cj!
I love the part when Daltrey and Townshend don't sing the right chorus line. Daltrey says its an eminence front and Townshend say's behind an eminence front.
The more you know 🌈
2:23
Is that a put-on?
They corrected it digitally on my copy. Bastards!
ENTOURAGE
this guy a true fan. First season first ep a great momment
GTA SA And Sleeping Dogs Brought me here :3
Hating on the GMC commercial using this song.... Why? This song is the jam and I would've probably never found it without that dumb GMC commercial. I said to myself for like 3 months 'what is that song???' every time the commercial came on. Glad I took the time to find it. Thanks GMC!
I only find ads to ruin songs when they use shitty covers of classics or if the song is way out of place with the ad.
+dbaxterbrown If you want to be exposed to great music I guesss you will have to watch more car commercials
I listen to this song at least once a day since the first time I heard it in 1982... means more now than then and still sounds as good as the first time.
Great song from the early 80s. Music today doesn't come close.
When people put music on, and it's not this song I get pissed.
haha! great comment, you get my Moonie of the day
when i'm at a party and this song isn't played i get pissed.
I enjoy the Whooooooo ! specially the keyboard sound vibration. yeaaahhhh .
Shares CRASH, Hopes are Dashed, People FORGET...."it's a Put On" ..... These guys are brilliant..... watch them own it with "We Won't Get Fooled Again" at the concert for NYC after nine eleven.
I am gonna be truthful, I always thought whoever sung this song was black, and I alway thoght they were saying dirty little funk
Yeah I thought it was soul music from like 1972 not The Who from 1982. Ha.
How in the FUCK does this have only 1 million views? Something is wrong with the world.
Quantity does not imply quality, if it were so, modern pop artists would have been knew Mozzarts.
new Mozzarts. *
This is the one...This is my final ride.
all we had to do was follow the damn train!
+dfshjbb44 damn u had me loool
Dunkey -_- :))
Aha Türk :D
People Forget ..
Good music from a great time when people played instruments could really sing & had real talent!!!!
Mwafrika Dickson people still do, just saying
don't know why but woke up this morning and had this song in my head, didn't even realize it was a who song
+pdxeddie1111 this morning. the same as you 2 months ago. Just woke up thinking the lyrics.
+JP's Brother naw I still remember when this song was new and on the radio, I hardly watch TV
+jeanmarie sansaver yep it's a catchy tune I like the phrase It's a put on
GTA San Andreas brought me here
if it wasnt for the infiltrator i wouldnt have found this song(or ever listened to the who, probably) but now i appreciate their music for its own worth. is everyone happy now?
Kenny Jones is one heck of a drummer in his own right. Not to dismiss that
Keith Moon was the best drummer of our generation and sadly missed.
Just listen to the FUCKING POWER IN THAT BASS!!! John Entwistle is the greatest bassist for a reason!!! RIP THUNDER FINGERS!!!
Law Abiding Citizen brought me here!
Just heard this tonite on a GMC commercial - I love this.
Baddass music.
I grew a beard after listening to this song.
Pete Townsend thought at the time that he was writing this song about cocaine. However, this song is about 9?11. "Sunshine, people forget" (It was a clear sunny day, "Lest we never forget"). "Come on join the party dressed to kill." "It's an eminence front. It's a put on." 9?11 was a "put on."
The last truly great song by The Who IMO.
Final song during credits of "The Infiltrator" brought me here.
If this doesn't make you wanna move, check your pulse
98 thumbs down????? Can so many people be stupid at the same time?
+Rafael S 58 million voted for Obama!
Rafael S obviously you don't live in America...don't you?
all they had to do was follow the damn train
fucking trump got elected. people are beyond stupid.
l agree we want back Obama :D
Although I'm not surprised,it's sad and baffling that there's 103 sorry haters out there who dislike this extremely CLASSIC rock.
The Who -Eminence front ! A awesome song indeed , The Who could rock !!!
One of the best songs of all time...
I Was a fan of this song in early 2000 s, but when GTA San Andreas Lanuched in 2004, this song got very popular
Great song!!!!!!
The only god fucking damn comment i could make sense of. Well written, clean and crisp. Well done!!!!!!
Kenny Jones does a great job on drums. One thing Roger could not accept after Keith Moons passing.
Wish music like this would make a hard comeback today❤ songs like this why we are lucky to have access to it all the time. And why it should be mandatory that all rental cars have Bluetooth 😅
I would compare this song to Fool In The Rain by Led Zeppelin. Not technically by sound. Mainly cause both songs are either loved or hated by most fans. I loved the fact both of the songs were something totally different from what they used to do. It's like they're developing as artists, or just going with what's popular.
MegaXman614 Fool is a WAY, WAY harder song on drums, just for the record. To be fair, you DO need a certain inherent pocket to pull this Eminince off, tho. Great drummers would call it "boring."
I like it a lot. I like being able to decipher the drum line entirely.
But, then again, I'm not a great drummer. Lol. I'm not bad, I've seen much worse.
person of interest brought me here
Person of interest brought me here
And now at power forward, 7 feet tall from Wuzburg, Germany, number 41, Dirk Nowitzky!
This song gives me hard feelings of gta sa
Why can't good music like this come back?
One bad-ass song
Brillant...... The Best of The Who....!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they copied that gmc commercial
I miss this music from back in the day.... when vh1 and mtv was a lot better. Miss the moon walking man...lol
I'm so lucky to be 11 and have cool parents. The Who rocks along with Steve Winwood, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, Stevie Wonder, Cold Play, Rush...etc...you get the picture
"I was born in the wrong generation! you guys don't understand real music!"
"Follow the damn train CJ"
Leonardo Motta that was one of the hardest missions....
GTA San Andreas ;)
2nd fav song behind, join together
1980 high school memories brought me here. come on join the party:)
Certain songs are a cut above This is one of them
The instrumental is played in Risky Business...
***** Actually, I think you're incorrect. I think you're thinking of Tangerine Dream 'Love On A Real Train' but wow - very similiar!
A Vez WTH are you talking about????
***** Hrmmm..talking about how Eminence Front is actually not the song used in Risky Business. One look on Google/Wikipedia and you'll see. Tangerine Dream's song called 'Love On A Real Train' is the song you're thinking of. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risky_Business_%28soundtrack%29
A Vez O, OK...gotcha ;)
***** Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians." The music that inspired both tracks.
Hey guys, discussing cars! It's a WHO SONG from 1982. Sorry if you are more interested in your vehicle. Maybe you were too young to remember the song-about four years after Keith Moon's death and each new Who album was a big question mark-how long would they continue. Some guys would rather talk about cars-why are you here?
oooh yeah this is music
Whether I was gunning down gangbangers in downtown LS in San Andreas, beating the shit out of triads in Sleeping Dogs, or listening to it as a child from my mom's tape collection it always got me feeling groovy.
WHERE ARE THESE GUYS NOW (2018). WE NEVER SEE THESE OLDER STARS ....even in cameos 😵😵😵
Retired living of the royalties of their music.
white guys song this song I been hearing this song for years and thought it was brothers singing this!
i know this song before GTA SA, but god damn i love San Andreas
Hopes are dashed!!!!Uh...yes!!!!The Best Who Song Ever!!!👍
How and why would anyone bother to thumbs down this song? May I ask. I really want an explanation. I have been listening to the Who for a darn long time. My first name is Tommy ;)
Carry on.. LoL :)
Blasting down the road on a sled, doing 125! HIGHWAY 81 !! SYL81!
I head ya, Leatherneck, Semper Fi from an old Marine Sgt. 1973-1977......OUT
Received this from a neighbor for Christmas in '82. I was a month shy my 12th birthday. I had just gotten a record player, and the bug to build a record collection was embedded in me. By the time I started middle school I had a pretty awesome collection going with the money I got from mowing lawns. The Who, Def Leppard, David Bowie, Toto, Stray Cats, The Cars, The GoGo's, Eddie Money, Foreigner...If they played it on 95YNF, I was at Camelot music that weekend. All vinyl, no tapes!
Lips aren't TRYING to be exactly sinked! "People forget" It's a video presentation of one "live" performance transferred to the album soundtrack of the song. It's an "Eminence Front", Album Version made By stan3 (Thanks again, stan3!) on Apr 3, 2008 on Movie Maker.
A highly appropriate (and appreciated!) display. BEST video for this song, by far! Not flawed at all, but a gift from the uploader!
It's loose, and wonderfully, intentionally nebulous! Go with it, man. It's a "put on". Brilliant!
Ahhhh this is a flashback to GREAT MUSIC! Here in 2016 the music sucks so bad that if you want to hear great music you have to go to youtube or watch a car commercial!
Seen this Live in Concert, Greatest Song Ever
I wish i was in your generation:)
They look like a bunch of brohs broh. They cultivated punk rock, bro rock, twisted the hipster's ears, and helped Led Zeppelin inform the epic eighties' flying electrified, chorus drenched, lead-guitar. It's all become a joke and too soon.
If you use GOOGLE CHROME you can get AdBlock. I've never watched a commercial before a video on anything now.
All the comments are for the most part really stupid in that only a few have to do with the song or the Who. If you guys want to talk popular mechanics find someplace else. It's sad in a way-not only were most of the men posting here not even aware of what time period this was, they possess little knowledge of the Who. They were definitely a band that sang to young men's angst (but its not Slayer, boys) but things like "Tommy" were considered art. Maybe despite all the bitching, the younger generation is in fact getting the music it deserves. We heard this in 1982 and really did not think about cars. Strange that that's about all that's discussed here because of a fucking commercial. The music might as well not even be there.
Walter Pewen
i was fortunate enough to have a jukebox that played 45s in the basement of our house as a kid. All my siblings were several years older than me, and that jukebox was packed with classics including this one. most kids today dont even know what a 45 is. thanks for posting.
I get you're an "original fan", but you're acting pretentious as hell
my name is Cindy and I've been a music fan since I was 14 I love music the song Eminence Front is one of my favorites and love reign o'er me and Magic and Magic Bus they had a lot of good songs I like the 70s rock and roll and using them for truck for commercials on TV I am sure I get a nice piece of change we're using that song I Saw another vehicle commercial with the song by Metallica playing and then there's one called going up the country that says 70 song guys were riding on motorcycles I like that I've always like that song I always considered myself cat food taste I like the guitar some of my favorite guitar players are Stevie Ray Vaughan Angus Young Prince check out the video of him at the 2005 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame he does a kick-ass performance may he rest in peace music has brought me through a lot of hard times in my life that's what I go to buy mad or upset anybody out there like the group twisted if you do let me know Cindy from South Dakota
Everyone getting triggered in the comments about the GMC commercial is making me laugh, the way I see it it's increasing its popularity. More people are coming here aren't they? Yeah that's what I thought 😂
PRESIDENT TRUMP PRESIDENT TRUMP PRESIDENT TRUMP ITS A PUT ON!!!! LMAO
I lived on an acreage in Alberta, Canada. I used to put my Heresys on the front porch while I was mowing the yard while listening to The Who, Eminence Front. Once in a while I'd climb off my tractor to put my Heresys back into place. I'd be listening to this tune so loud, the speakers would move around... A very fond memory. I also had one of Pioneer's Mega ampzillas at the time.
Driving a convertible to this on a long highway with an orange sunset. G O O D V I B E S
Also yes I took inspiration from gta san andreas doing the xact same thing LOL
Townshend is absolutely brilliant. He wrote "Tommy" the rock opera when he was, what, 21? I just now heard "Eminence Front" on a GMC Truck commercial, and last night heard "I Can See for Miles" (one of my favorites) as the theme song for a new CSI show. Wonder if today's pop music (or whatever it's called) will get that kind of play in 40-50 years?
Really?!? Ruining?!? All I hear is a resurrection of a tune buried among many classics and now re-presented. I agree that some classics are bastardized for mens' or women's health or some candy or none-such. But if Eminent Front was to sold out, I would much rather it be for an American truck than an early heart bivalve medication.
No intention to minimize the ordeals to those that suffer with such an affliction.
I came to my young adulthood on The Who, albeit in the early 80s and a couple concerts. Late bloomer I suppose. A recently passed friend educated me to them. I am attached to this music, but what about "5:15," "Love, Reign O'er Me," "Slip Kid," "Join Together," You Better You Bet," "Relay," and of course "Behind Blue Eyes."
How many times have the Stones been compromised? Are The Who invincible? What older songs are not compromised or otherwise not up for sale? Beethoven would likely wish for for a few royalties...oh, yeah, he's dead, so that's okay.
Was much more of a Who fan than a Stones fan. No disrespect, just taste.
WPIX [Channel 11 New York] used this during Yankee game bumper/breaks. Always loved it....
best 5:39 min of my life
Whew! At my age, as one of the original post WWII Baby Boomers, I still play this loud in the car (Sorry to the folks on my night-time paper route!). There's only a few songs over the FM that I blast for joy. Come morning, the bigger the beat and the more bass is just the ticket, on every kind of rock, blues, Hip-Hop, Rasta, Ska, Cuba, Mexicano, etc.. When I hear something good I look it up and get it. I get home and have my own enhanced tacos and maybe a Servesa or two.... Do it again, ha.
First heard it on GTA: SA (I call it GTA 3.2 because GTA 3 is 3.0, VC is 3.1, you get it) and now that GMC ad.
From Wiki - In the song, Townshend sings about the delusions and drug use of the wealthy and hedonistic. The lyrics describe a party in which people hide from their problems behind a facade. Townshend has introduced the song in live performances with: "This song is about what happens when you take too much white powder; it's called 'Eminence Front'".
BTW Stan3 - Keith Moon is not in this video - he died four years before the song was released - the drummer is Kenny jones.
Nice underlying bass groove - you go John!!!
Great Workout song try it nothing like...it gives you a rush, the heart is pumpin', sweat pouring from lifting weights, slowly then the burn...awesome.
Saw them at Shea Stadium many years ago, with Clash & David Johanson, Great Gig. Sad Pete & Roger are hangin it up.
They are the Band from youth at 58 yrs young still Rockin'.
Peace 2 ya
It's not often you hear a Who track with Townsend on the vocals, but when he stepped up, you knew he was gonna blow you away. The greatest band to come out of West London no questions asked, no quarter given.
Turn it up, people!
