For an object with a very bright central portion I am surprised this isn't imaged more! There was lots of detail even in the OIII and SII filters. Since there was so much hydrogen filling the entire frame a traditional SHO palette would have been difficult to tone the green down. I decided to go with the HOO+SII palette that Adam Block recently put a video out on, although he was not the first to do it as even in Jurgen's Toolbox the NB Combination tool defaults to that palette, I figured this may be a good target to use that approach on anyways. There are a number of very massive stars in the central region that really is driving the emission of everything with their strong UV light. OIII is the hardest to ionize and really is mostly centralized around that cluster near the core. A number of very dark dust lanes are through out the image too giving it some really nice contrast

Love the Fossil Footprint, looked it up and was amazed to find it is high in the sky for the UK now and a good sized target for my 0.8' field of view. And thanks for yet another tool. 👏🙌

Lovely work as usual Frank. I for one would be interested to see what your HDRMultiscaletransform workings are/were. best wishes

Beautiful result Frank! It’s helpful to hear your thought process as you progress through the iterations. Do you have a video that talks more about using HDR?

You mean my ramblings as I make a video? Hahaha. No I dont have a specific video on HDRmst, others I know have. Maybe I should put out a short video on it.

I’ve been curious about applying HDRMT to individual SHO channels vs. the combined SHO channels. Can you go through your thought process on using it on individual channels instead of the combined channels? Thanks fora great video!

Like I showed, i ran it on individual channels. I like doing it on individual channels seperately becuase not each channel may need the samr amout of HDR. My final HOO i used had Ha hdr but normal OIII. If you run it on the combined everything gets HDRMT

Maybe it’s called the “Fossil Footprint Nebula” because it looks a little like a human footprint, with a couple of toes towards the top?
