I recently ordered 5 egg planes, and am looking forward to building them. You are correct, there are too many modellers who take this hobby too seriously, and criticize any and every inaccuracy. This hobby will die without new people, especially kids, taking an interest. The egg planes, ships, tanks, et al could be a great tool to get them off their Xboxes and PS4s and sitting at a bench. There's nothing wrong with the rivet counters, either, but the way I look at it is - if I spend $95 on a Dragon tank, then I'm going to build it how I want to build it. It's only for me anyway.
Couldn't agree more with you!!! I built several Egg Planes back in the mid 1980's (F-86, Space Shuttle, F-16 with witch) and loved every minute of it as a complete release from 'accuracy' and just pure fun to do!! Great channel!!
Great point. Don't have kids but built some egg-planes with my God daughter. Fabulous quality time together (although I had to bite the bullet and help her make cup cakes as well).
Congrats on the first 200 matey! Loved the video about Egg Planes.. I got to get me some of the Egg Battelships! Might actuallt get one built in less than a year...
From an aesthetics POV, I prefer the non-egg Toon/Cute series from Meng & Tiger Model. They're deformed but less so, more in proportion.
But that's just subjective.
It's good to have choices though and these recent ones fit a lot better than the Hasegawa eggs...
I just requested to join the scale modeler's critique group... the 'what's your favorite model kit' question I almost answered with egg planes (even though I've never heard of them before this video :D )
Love them but my local hobby store won't bring them in unless he gets an order of 20 or more such units :(
Just think of the investment that Hasegawa laid out to produce ~50 different kits in this series. I hope they never quit.
I have stayed away from modelling kits for years now. And correct, there is an element of snobbery from some. But I am getting back into it because these fun egg planes and toon tank kits. With these you certainly can experiment and not worry if you bugger it up. They are fun, they look like something that would be at home in Looney Tunes world. Like the idea with not having the landing gear showing and will be looking forward to putting my own ideas into how I want the models to look without spending heaps off money and deciding against having the will to be adventurously outrageous!
Just found this video as looking at building an egg plane ,, hope you’re well Chris
Disfiguring something serious, it's always a lot of fun..!
wont hear me complaining about egginess! well, not unless they bring out a serenity!
Why? Because they're soo freakn cute!! BOEING released pre-assembled egg planes back in the '80's featuring Commercial Airliners, such as my Dad's set from TWA. ❤❤❤
Ive built too many Tiger I tanks. I was at my local hobby lobby not even looking for another model because i just needed normal supplies. And... I walk out of the store with a 9 dollar Meng Tiger I egg tank..
What is the point of doing a hobby that you don't enjoy. Eggplanes are un-serious and I LIKE that. Un-serious is fun, and fun is what ppl should get out of their hobby.
Seriously? Why does it have to be serious? It's a hobby....it's all about having fun. Oh and you can go wild on these things when you like also. The Fujimi Chibi-Maru Kaga for instance. PE, wooden deck, nicer planes with "accurate" decals...it's available. Great fun!
You are on video. Show, don't tell.
so sili plens
Egg stuff is great! available for many genres of subjects, including Gundam! Enjoy them, Have fun!
Having fun is important for a hobby. I don't think I would get one of these, but I also see these egg-models can appeal highly to others, and be a great passtime.
can't get into eggplanes , though I have built about ten of the2 compact or "Chibi" style from Freedom models and meng . They are addictive !
Real models:We take you months to build
Egg plane:we take a few days and we gud for decor
I say egg plane 1 and real plane 0
Panzer Grey, is blue!!!! ;) Nice talk about egg planes. my only disappointment is the egg planes don't come with the figures. I'd paint them. I was actually thinking about doing my next PZIII with green hues, but we will see what I decide when i get there.
Black is bad, try reapers walnut brown, see how it gives you the feels. I litteraly had a tiny erection. It will replace any black on your bench.
Chris Becker Where can I get these things!!???? That's so cute I wanna barf!!!! Are they still in production,or will I have to go surfing to find them? Look like a buttload of fun!
BRO WHY THE PRETTY GIRLS💀
I just wish the planes came with the figures shown on the box art.
They do if you get the special versions... the figures are resin
Vasili cool, but I have never seen them offered anywhere
Type stevethefishdotnet into UA-cam... that guy is sound he built a few already including the figures ... tell him killary sent you, that will freak him out 😜👍
@@vasili1207 are you sure about that, I don't need him getting pissed at me.
Haha yeah he will be fine , he will probably laugh and make him scratch his brain. He is a good lad, and if he do say something naughty , just tell him I said it.
Honestly he is a good guy and builds a lot of them, so any issues in fit etc he has probably experienced it, that info may help you with your kits or decisions what kit to buy..
Happy modeling fella 👍
The fact you keep on mentioning "real kit" diminishes the level of this line. So, I am a Gundam Builder, I guess in your books SD are not real models neither? Tsk tsk tsk...
@@beckersmodels ive never been into the subject matter of gundam.. but I am intrigued by the starwars stuff coming out of Bandai... ? Why are they not real kits? Dont you still have to assemble and glue them?. Anything can be repainted and weathered if it suits you.. i think the starwars line is deffinatly real kits. A bit of snap tite envolved but still real kits
