11:27 Should probably point out for clarification that the Junior Canada hockey team is being investigated by police in the Canadian city of London, Ontario- Not London, England 😅

Crosby will definitely keep playing a decent while longer. Still an elite player.

Contract extensions in the NHL only happen during the last year of the contract. So it’s an expiring contract that got an extension, which is essentially a new contract that starts as soon as his current contract expires.

This right here. See also; Jonathan Huberdeau. That one might be even crazier because of the sheer drop off to date.

I think you should check out the video mentioned in this one about the MacKinnon vs Kucherov race, "The Greatest NHL MVP Race We've Seen in Years," by the same channel. Cool look at the playstyle of the two guys at the top of the league this year, being basically polar opposite.

To answer your questions about player contracts, in the NHL there’s a “hard salary cap” system in place. This means that under no circumstances can an NHL organization exceed a certain amount of dollars spent on players (83.5 M for this season). Because of this hard cap, and the fact that it hasn’t increased in total amount since before COVID, teams often sign players to longer term contracts in order to keep the Annual Average Value (AAV) lower, allowing them to spend more money elsewhere on the roster. Hence a 8 year extension for a player like Doubis, despite him being an extremely streaky, but highly talented player. Love the content guys, keep up the good work!

Also - re: Sid retiring. I don't think he'll retire now that the league has announce that they'll be in the Olympics in 2026 and 2030. I think he'll keep playing for as long as they'll keep signing him to a contract. And apropos of him playing so well at his current age, you should try to find a good video on Mr. Hockey - Gordie Howe. Gordie played pro hockey from 1946 through to 1980 - he was 51 when he finally retired, having played on a line with both of his sons. And Jaromir Jagr is still playing pro hockey today, and his first season was 1990, and he still plays pro hockey in the Czech Republic today.

1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins 17 Game Winning streak still stand as NHL Record but that Year Penguins were going for there 3rd Straight Stanley Cup but they got Upset By the New York Islanders in seven games in 1993 Patrick Division Final

Utah was hinting big time that they are ready immediately to accommodate a team, while The Arizona Coyotes new stadium deal has just once again fallen apart.... possible relocation?

Du Bois' contract is a full 8 years after this one, and the total value is $68M US.

You should do more reactions to player highlights. Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon, Nikita Kucherov, Auston Matthews, David Pastrnak are all fun players to react to.

Love you guys. It's really great to see you two staying committed to this. Such an incredible game, and I love to see good sports people fall in love with it. Well done.

One more thing on Crosby--he is in incredible condition--the body of a 28 year-old, so he can play alot more.

The fact that you guys thought 68 million over 8 years was a lot was so funny to me as 68 million is more normal for like 2-3 year contract in most American sports I don't know hockey though

Crosby will play until at least 40 I would guess--has made no indications he will stop and has been voted by the players as the best all-around player in the NHL (i.e., the world) in each of the last 4 years and will be again, this year (he plays a great "200 ft. game" as a defensive forward, besides the obvious offensive talent, skating, passing, and face-off domination, etc.).

This will definitely not be Crosby's last season. He'll keep playing for years. I would not be surprised to see him play into his 40s.

9:46 in Hockey "Contract extensions" are effectively brand new contracts, Dubois' new 8 year deal takes effect after this season. And right now his contract's looking like another Rick DiPietro fiasco.

Hey, Damo, I’m with you on the Oilers. I figured they’d turn it around, but not to quite the same degree. (Raised in Edmonton. Moved to the States 45 years ago $.

The Penguins are so bad, that so far the only real projected Sell Out right now is their Sunday the 18th game where they will retire Jagr's number 68.

IIRC The 5 game suspension was the max given the constraints. To get more, it had to go higher.
Also no way Sid is retiring lol. He's way too good and loves the game too much. I think the way to get him to retire is to kick him off the team. Which would never happen.

If there's a parade coming to Toronto any time soon, it will be to celebrate one player only. Go Leafs Go 😀 😢
