My Lord, Lord's...That thing looks like it came from the 90's! I'm actually surprised there's still a market for them when we all typically use our phones or mini Bluetooth speakers. Either way, yet again, great review!
I agree the styling hasn't really changed in the last 20 years, but there is still a market for these kind of products. At least it has Bluetooth and has got rid of the cassette though.
Great little machine this. I bought the version with only an FM radio as in my opinion DAB is very poor. I connect a cheap Amazon Echo Dot via Bluetooth and listen to radio via that and it's way better than DAB. I've also got back in to CD's and listening to them on this system confirmed to me that it's still the best sounding format. I stream music from my Echo Dot using Amazon music and then play the same song from CD and the CD clearly wins. The difference isn't huge but it's definitely there.
I like the way you've presented this unit very well done I was planning to get the Panasonic RX-D500 which is a lesser variety of the same unit minus the Bluetooth/USB but I'm primarily into CD listening I believe both of them will sound like each other However I'd like to enquire HOW is the unit at playing CDs and does the top volume hit 50 as is the case with all the Panasonic audio systems I own and what I gather is this unit is Manufactured in Malaysia if I'm not mistaken?
Panasonic has its own factory in Malaysia, so it is still made like in Japan, not some bad quality production. Even Technics turntables are now made in Malaysia, not in Japan anymore. If you buy RX-D500 it will sound the same, but come only with a technology of nineties.
I love Panasonic products. I stil own an old radio cassette portable device like this, a little larger, and it still has a great sound. I ve just bought a black 522. It has a pleasant good sound thou it lacks lower freqs. I found 2 flaws that can annoy a little thou I still would buy it again: radio is not so intuitive to configure, and dab is not working where I am thou my car stereo can receive dab channels. The other flaw is display is hard to read and there is no backlight. Pity.

@@lords-electrical I liked the cassettes !
It sounds like it came from the 90´s. So, way better than the crappy sound of those bt speakers...
I just bought one recently and it's so much better than listening on a mono Bluetooth speaker
I love panasonic!!!

should of added a backlight, otherwise great.

Ещё бы ручка вперёд откидывалась, удобнее переносить было-бы.
