Found your channels this year and they have been a real joy for me. They have made me wish for a lottery win. However this is the video I have been waiting for. Your views on best under £100k.
Your videos have been a real highlight of my year. I found your channels this year and have enjoyed the fun you bring. I love the more affordable boats and the river boats as well as the 1 to 2 million pound ones.
I have to put my Princess nerd head on and admit to a tiny error. The Princess 455 became the 470 with no structural modifications, just a badge change and I think a bit of an internal refresh of materials. It was the 480 that was basically a 470 but with the extended bathing platform. Suddenly occurred to me today.
I have a princess 470 in Plymouth, your right about the maintenance it’s been testing at times but love the boat and will never change her 👍 love your videos
YES, this is absolutely what I want from you guys. Now just need to get you the money to buy them and use them in a show we will call "Top Knots" and get "The Jib" to do a speed test. Love it guys, thank you!
Really enjoyed this concept of video, and particularly the brief of a £100k spend which is realistic for a lot of boat owners. My favourites were Nick’s 2 choices but Hugo’s boat share idea has many merits. I’ve been a boat owner for 40ish years, the last 20 years in the Mediterranean where general costs mount up and arranging maintenance from home is both a challenge and frustrating. A good friend of mine has a share in a 44ft yacht based in Majorca and his experience is very positive for all the reasons Hugo pointed out. One other benefit that wasn’t mentioned is that you can arrange with the other owners to drop off the boat at a different base, for instance Ibiza where either you or they will pick it up from which considerably extends your cruising area. I hope and look forward to another similar video in the near future. John
Brilliant informal chat about boats and their true meaning in our lives. Loved every second and every opinion. We are soooo lucky there is a wonderful and varied selection in the market place. Owning or timesharing a boat is a pleasure and yes has a 'never ending' cost... worth every penny (cent). Spend a bit of the kids inheritance that you can't with you - for they are way too responsible, and boy what great memories they will have to pass onto their grandchildren. Thanks again Nick, Hugo and Jack we just remembered the real reason why we bought a boat!
Really enjoyed this. Some refreshing differences and agreements. I liked Nick's boat choices however Hugo's wild card made so much sense, if owning/mooring abroad. If you had a lifestyle that permitted at least 2x 4wk warm/hot climate breaks, then shared ownership might be cost-effective, especially compared to chartering.
Another great debate, cheers👍 I'm with Hugo on this one (Nick in 1st vid) Would be interesting results if money was no object, a difficult one to pin down🤔 Could be a quarterly feature regardless of Covid!
I would love to see one of these with a budget, maybe something between 200k and 400k, but the stipulation that you have to buy a new boat. I'm curious what they would go for.
My Hunter sailboat has made 2020 surprisingly amazing. Having a peaceful escape to social distance, made this summer memorable! No wonder boat sales are through the roof.
Three "Brothers" as I see you - Nick, the one who delivers the facts in such an entertaining and inviting manner. Next is Hugo the obvious middle child who finds EVERY water vessel to be a potential racer. Bringing up the pack - literally - is the chief cat herder always there to help and share, Jack the younger. Never a cruel word from Jack, but he's delivered many a pointed observation. I know NONE of this is real, but in my head you 3 ARE boating...
Be great to see a debate on the higher end boats. Perhaps the "wannabe" super yachts in the 60 to 76ft range. One of my favourites is a 2nd hand 75ft Sunseeker (Sasse) which stylistically, I prefer to its replacement, the 76. And perhaps a discussion on the entry level super yachts 78 to 100ft. I love the Cranchi78 both for its Italian flair but it also got very good sea trial ratings. The Sirenna 88 is stunning although unlike many people, I am not a fan of the infinity pool outside the master suite. My personal pick though would be the Pearl 95. I love the Kelly Hoppen interiors, the outside space and a 5 stateroom layout makes it immensely practicable. Must admit it was a close run thing with the Princess X95. Keep up the good work and hope 2021 brings you the freedom to test lots more boats.
Great format and very enjoyable chat/argument/discussion like the first one. I'm with Hugo on the first choices, practical and could really see this boat getting used a lot by me and my family personally. The wild card though Nick's was the nicest and live aboardable (but huge and huge running costs no doubt) Jack's sudden urge for a fishing lifestyle is not going to be for everyone.
Thoroughly enjoyed that chat, nice one guys, I hope you keep these discussion videos coming in the future they're so interesting and informative. For me I would probably go for a twin engined jeanneau (it would be my first boat though) for the sleeping quarters, heads with shower, enclosed saloon, a cockpit area and the safety of twin engines, preferably a 1095 but I guess at this budget it would be the 895 merry fisher.👍 The shared ownership idea wouldn't really suit my impulsive character but I can see how it might work for some people, I can't help but think that no matter how high tech the algorithm for allocating the shared time is, it would always be raining when it's my turn 😬. Keep doing what you do please, you're all entertaining on screen and help with the day dreams 👍😁❤️
If I was living in England I would buy a third share and have the boat at Malloca. The weather and beaches are fantastic. I live in Sydney so can’t complain .
With our parlours Brexit situation it’s the wrong time to live in England and buy a boat in Europe. You can’t get there, or back... without massive planning and stress and in 14 days time the VAT (20%) implications are still uncertain. Stay in Sydney old chap, it can’t be all that bad there really. Just cricket and rugby to get bored with.... 🤓🤓🤓🤓
Thanks guys I do love these videos. I’m one of those dreamers that will probably never be able to afford to run a boat but these candid conversations are incredibly interesting. Question for all of you: Where have you been boating and maybe this is an idea for another video, where would you like to go boating next? Because, it seems to me that, What one wants out of a boat and what it needs to be, is very dependent on where one is boating.
I’m now half expecting Jack to move to America and buy a ‘proper’ sports fisher! Hugo, two interesting choices but nothing for me. Nick, I’m looking forward to SB3! Thoroughly enjoyable watch gents. Thanks 👍
First of all i have enjoyed this program immensely, but i have to say that I feel and think about boating totally different from all of you, somehow, the pleasure of boating is going places and stay a couple of days to each place and you need to be comfortable when the boat is in a Marina or anchor at a bay, my opinion is that the best place for boating are the Greek islands, the easy think is that you can se the island you want to go from were you are, i can go on for long talking about that, my last thinking no one thought of a Grand Banks 36 when you were talking about the wild card, though if i had to choose one of you i agree with Nick's choice
Love you guys from over there even when insulting each other you’re still so nice and proper about it! Good laugh you guys and awesome suggestions. Next week let’s move the budget up a little bit to 550K now we’re talking...
God video, never knew there was a Sunseeker sports fisher. I too wouldn’t want a boat share but the idea is quite appealing in the case where the boat was located overseas. In that case you need to be much more organised about using it than a local boat so the downsides of a boat Share are a bit less. The biggest issue is that most people want to use the boat at the very exact same time.
It’s a good boat, I grew up with one, well made and stylish.. & back in the eighties my dad had the complete set of boy toys.. a v12 Daimler, a V8 RangeRover, race horses and the Italian sports boat as the Cherry on top.. the maintenance cost of these were horrendous.. Never forget the arguments between my mother and him about his spending.. and sure enough they divorced because of it.. lol Dad always said.. money doesn’t buy you happiness but it can buy the misery you can enjoy 😉
Hey Guys, I really enjoyed the last debate. This has a realistic budget, all the boats chosen are great, the wild cards especially 😜 Jack would move to USA for his dream boat as would i, Hugo's third share makes a lot of sense with access to a much newer model, Nick's classic Princess is a lot of boat for the 100k despite the age. Another fantastic video from MBY Thanks. Merry Christmas to all
Share ownership is out for me. There's no doubt there would be problems getting along with the other owner or owners. I think I'll go with Nick tonight. Both of his picks were pretty good. I'd rather have a quality older boat that I liked than a newer boat that I didn't. Even if I needed to do $20,000 in repairs in a year or two. I'd rather repair a boat I liked and planned on keeping, than thinking about my next boat.
I really, REALLY like this format. As a car guy, I can debate cars on this level, but I can't debate boats. Videos like this give me boats to study up on after the show. Very fun, especially if you search boat ads WHILE watching/listening. May I make one suggestion? If this format is to continue, please put a teeny-tiny bit of effort into getting better sound. I had to really turn it up to hear Nick, and if anyone interrupted, they were painfully loud. Even the cheapest "I want to be a podcaster" mic would help. Relying on the microphones in your laptops makes for a very unpleasant 47 minutes. It spoils great content.
On the subject of sharing, in a different league to this but we had a share of a Bavaria 32 yacht for a number of years. The cost to buy the share (10k) and annual costs (1.5k) were so low, it was virtually free boating. We sold the share for 7k after 5 amazing seasons in the Solent. So much to be said for it. Just wish there was a more active market in the uk for newer motorboat shares. Would love to spend a bit more for a larger, newer share in the uk. The issue with the med is that it makes it hard for weekend trips, especially with school age kids in term time.
For a 100,000 .... You would be wasting your money on a open top boat .. cos it will be in harbour or on the trailer more times than you will ever get to use it as the weather here in the UK isn't garunteed to be great . . PS What is your thoughts on Yacht Clubs .. that still don't even have a purpose built marina /jettys for it's owners boats . I know of one which has Royal in the title and they anchor there vessels off shore
Perhaps you guys might come to America and spend some time fishing here when this virus issue is over. I can see how you wouldn’t want a fishing boat in England, but in Florida, you have plenty of sports fish and tasty ones at that.
I would love to see you guys do a vlog on which yacht from the 60's era would you choose. They seem to be great buys for using as a residence, and the occasional trip out of the bay. I don't think my wife had an idea of how large this 57 foot boat was, and how much space there was for day to day living. Generally, these are still under $100K, and seem to offer a lot for the money, but I'd be curious to know what professional yacht owners, and reviewers thing of these old wooden boats. Back in the early 2000's, I thought about buying a 1969 Chris Craft Constellation for around $75K. I was planning to live on the boat as a replacement for our appt. The slip cost was less than rent, and included electric, cable tv, etc. It all sounded wonderful, living on the water, and that whole lifestyle. But, the wife said no way would she ever live on a boat, and that was that. I am mechanically inclined, I'm a jack of all trades, master of none type so wasn't too afraid of doing needed repairs whether mechanical or any other need the yacht might have. I think I might have bitten off more than I could chew financially speaking, but it would have been fun in any case. 😀👍✌
People that live in the UK, canada, or the northeast US, have seasons. You may not go jump in the boat in the middle of the winter, but for people a little further south, like Florida, Texas, or the gulf of mexico...we can use a boat year round. It might be 75 degrees and sunshine in January. A share would be tough. I feel sorry for you people that like in the icy winters..LOL Great video. Thanks.
Hello, here is a sugestion for another great debate. If money wasn't a problem, what boat would you get? It could be as big as you wanted, but it has to be a boat you could realistically handle by yourself
The only problem I have with sports style boats is with speed comes a big fuel bill at the end of your journey. I know the 100 k limits the budget but I prefer low speed vessels with a cruising speed of 9 to 12 knots. Dream boat would be a Fleming 65.
Is it possible to link to the first episode of this three way debate? It sounds good. This is like the Top Gear trio. I think you should get together in person and do a similar challenge. Top Gear for boats. Question is, who would be who. Is Nick captain slow? Hugo Clarkson? Jack Hamster? Lol, good fun.
I’d go for a Windy for a weekend blaster but Guys for the next challenge why not pick best boat for going to the Med from the UK for a full summer cruise and back with only £500,000 to spend.
I'd be really interested to know; if you each had an unlimited budget but had to buy an owner operator boat, what would each of you choose? Is that too contentious a question given you could upset some of your sponsors? The answer could give your viewers a real insight into what each of your dreams are!
Great video guys, it’s nice to see the banter. Maybe you’ll be the top gear of the boating world…. I bet that would be fun. Anyway, I have a question about the future. I wonder what could be done if boats ran off hydrogen fuel cells and electric motors. This would be a huge weight and space saving and fuel costs would be a fraction of diesel. This with a huge boost in performance. Can you picture a 50ft boat with six good sized cabins with silent engines. It would be a serious game changer and put the brand who does this as the biggest name in the world. ……… come on princess lol
Hi Colin, glad you enjoyed the video. We have actually done a video on a hydrogen powered boat, but it's not as luxurious as a Princess! ua-cam.com/video/9J6zud7AfR4/v-deo.html
I'd have to go with Nick's choice, wild card, I have always loved the older style Princess and the 455 is a real scene stealer in looks. EDIT:- the princes has already been sold .. NICK is that your new boat???? huh huh huh , nudge nudge wink wink !!!!!!!
Hi, we hope you enjoy this video and we welcome your comments. We have included links to all the boats mentioned in this video in the description.
Found your channels this year and they have been a real joy for me. They have made me wish for a lottery win. However this is the video I have been waiting for. Your views on best under £100k.

I'm just upset that boats don't deprecate like cars, then I would definitely be able to afford a nice one.
I enjoyed that video
I have a princess 470 in Plymouth, your right about the maintenance it’s been testing at times but love the boat and will never change her 👍 love your videos

So much boat nearding in 47 minutes. Just EXCELLENT :D. Thanks :)
Excellent honest no holds barred review of affordable boats. More please.

Great stuff chaps. Thoroughly enjoyable. Have another go in the new year at £500k budget . Happy Christmas and happy boating new year
The holy trinity of yachting!😉
Great stuff guys... I've been looking at the yacht share option for a while. Glad you approve Hugo! Great video. Great format. More please!
Another great debate, cheers👍 I'm with Hugo on this one (Nick in 1st vid) Would be interesting results if money was no object, a difficult one to pin down🤔

Because, it seems to me that, What one wants out of a boat and what it needs to be, is very dependent on where one is boating.
As usual, Nick mispronounces the Cranchi (crun-key)! 🤣🤣
But much agreed about having much to like from that very established Cantiere!
Was really looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint - of course you're all woefully wrong but that's the fun! Cheers chaps!
Go on, what would you choose for £100k?
Excellent video and I can’t wait for more. I am now trying to work out who is Clarkson, May and Hammond out of the 3 of you.
I’m now half expecting Jack to move to America and buy a ‘proper’ sports fisher!
Hugo, two interesting choices but nothing for me.
Nick, I’m looking forward to SB3!
Thoroughly enjoyable watch gents. Thanks 👍

Cranchi all the way for me, and I would want to 100% own my boat too.
I’m with Nick - I like the Cranchi!
Great discussion and boat purchase ideas! Thanks guys!
Please do one of these for sub 20k boats! Would be very well received. Love the videos.
A fun watch, thanks
Loved this. Please keep them coming. Great idea and not dissimilar to something Marine Max do in the US.
Thank you Gents! Very insightful and truly enjoyed your insights.
Love this chat video series.
Hey Guys, I really enjoyed the last debate. Like watching Jack referee between two old fish wives 😂 enjoyed that, thanks all for your thoughts
This was a wonderful discussion, thank you! If I were to nominate a boat at this price it would be a Prestige 36 Fly
I had my eye on one of those, too. 👍
Share ownership is out for me. There's no doubt there would be problems getting along with the other owner or owners. I think I'll go with Nick tonight. Both of his picks were pretty good. Superhawk 34 for me
It was well received so you thought you'd do an hour with a bad mic?

I am with the Cranchi 👍Go on Nick Smugglers 3
Enjoyed this. More boating chats please.
How about a video on the dream of winning the lottery with say a £2 million budget but it has to be able to be handled by the owner not a crew
Very enjoyable debate chaps thank you , but my winner is nick I am with him with his choices 👍🏻
More debates like this! Great content guys
Please up the budget next time to ‘fantasy’ levels 😉. Let Nick set the level of spend for your next production! Great vid btw.
Perhaps you guys might come to America and spend some time fishing here when this virus issue is over. I can see how you wouldn’t want a fishing boat in England, but in Florida, you have plenty of sports fish and tasty ones at that.
Loved this one.

Great video
Have any of you sailors done a review of Nord Star boats?
If not, please do so.
Yes, a review of the 31+ will be on the channel at the end of this month.
Hello Hugo! Axopar 22 just joined the club of the boats you mentioned!
It sure has and I can’t wait to test it. It looks the business!
Really enjoyed this conversation especially the part ownership but this would have to be totally reliant on all parties agreeing 100% on everything
ill have the memories to take home

I'd be really interested to know; if you each had an unlimited budget but had to buy an owner operator boat, what would each of you choose? Is that too contentious a question given you could upset some of your sponsors? The answer could give your viewers a real insight into what each of your dreams are!
as a Canuck, this boat share in Europe sounds perfect

It’s Cranky..not Cranchee
I'd have to go with Nick's choice, wild card, I have always loved the older style Princess and the 455 is a real scene stealer in looks.
EDIT:- the princes has already been sold .. NICK is that your new boat???? huh huh huh , nudge nudge wink wink !!!!!!!
A rowing boat 🚣♀️
Before I'd do a 1/3 share deal, I'd just charter or rent a boat. I would not want anyone on my boat or sleeping in my bed. No share for me.
Jack - was almost sure that your wild card would have been a Botnia Targa?
£3million budget on the next one ;)
Lost the will to live 10mins in.
