For the "rely mostly on raw attack" part, generally speaking is true but in this MH istance element are super important even on GS. A elemental weakness of the moster rise the damage to 30% in some cases.
I'm a greatsword main, and I play for economy. Crafting elemental weapons is expensive and delays my armor upgrade. I use the poison hammer to farm materials tho to upgrade my GS. Barroth is too tough too beat for the raw GS.
Thanks, that's interesting to know. The problem is, for dealing elemental damage, GS is not as cost-effective as other weapons like Bow, SnS etc. And in this game the Zenny is always not enough. So making multiple GS for different element is still not a budget choice. For myself, I crafted a Bow for some element damage when it's needed.
@@anarzl That's my point exactly. I only use Raw GS to everything and Poison hammer for Barroth. And yes I use lock because GS is king of part breaking more than hammer. My armor is all critical eye and in late game. I'll use weakness exploit + Anjanath or Girros Coil.
literally my main weapon since freedom united, but after mh 3rd i never played other MH franchise, and there is so many new move and combo i didnt know, especially on mh now, but after watching this it gives me a lot of information i need, thankyou bro. and i hope they will add dual sword and lance sooner or later.
DUDE NICE VIDEOOO! I JUST GOT MHN AND I PLAYED MHW A CRAP TON 2 YEARS AGO PLUS GREATSWORD RULESSSS! PLAYING MH ON A PHONE IS A REALLY FUN EXPERIENCE LOL
Not using different elements in this game is basically putting game on hard mode. GS in other games didnt benefit as much from elemental dmg, but here the dmg is considerably higher. Fact that fights are on tight time limit of 1.5min or so, having advantage of like 30% extra dmg makes a difference. Especially with Greatsword where every attack counts, you want that elemental boost in dmg.
Definitely element makes more damage. I didn't know it's as much as 30% when making this video (not very sure even now). However zenny is always a big problem when you need to upgrade multiple weapons. Using one raw weapon is a more economic choice with decent overall damage. I am HR 70+ now and have forged lvl8 Barroth GS. Used Barroth GS for 2000 hunting and never got heavily blocked due to lack of damage
To reduce damage while doing the Tackle, do you need to do the tackle damage first to reduce the incoming damage OR do you need to tackle at the time where you're going to get hit by an attack? I can't seem to understand this "Tackle" mechanic so I hope I can get an answer explaining this to me. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!
It's hard to time it. It works but it's hard. That's why I don't use it. Because time is gold in this game. You don't have alot of time to take your time while fighting monsters. One mistake can cost you your hunt and make you restart again.
what do you think about pukei mail? grade 4 it gives focus so it seems p good, also what are your thoughts on concentration and divine blessing? (I was thinking of getting paolumu vembraces and coil)
I pride myself on being pretty decent with the greatsword in the actual games and have been for quite a few years but DAMN I cannot use the GS with any skill in Now and it pisses me off beyond belief.
While you are charging the attack slides upwards your fingers. It's a bit tricky so try it with some Shamos first. You can also try to double slide to be sure that your cellphone registers the input, still it feels... not great in my opinion.

@@Entropy-ic3tf I switch to Kulu helm when farming Barroth. Locking on it's forearm would be much helpful

Im always low on stones😂
Thank you RedHeart Sensei 🙏

Thank you! Many of the moves are from 5th gen. Playing GS has been a totally different experience since MHW

"Not using different elements" Really? It seemed easy enough. I've beaten Rathalos with only the basic grade 4, non element bowgun.

tackle when you're about to get hit.
Am I doing something wrong that I get knocked down when using tackle or do I need certain equipment to make the tackle work
you need to time it

Pukei mail is decent. However after upgrading it to lvl4, you are already very close to Rathalos mail which is the best in current meta
Paolumu pieces are good. I am still using its hand and coil now at hunter rank 60
I do what the guide says and the tackle still doesnt work
I pride myself on being pretty decent with the greatsword in the actual games and have been for quite a few years but DAMN I cannot use the GS with any skill in Now and it pisses me off beyond belief.
Yeah it's definitely a differenct experience on mobile phone than on big screen
so there is a way to block with the tackle!
yep
i only have one greatsword the jagras one but i use it alot cus so many monsters are weak to water in mh now
That's a good weapon. Especially when you consider the HP boost skill on it
When you hit Ratian, you should have already Pukei Pukei with Focus for the mail. How come you didn't recommend Rathian gloves? They have Lock On too.
It is no better than paolumu one because Burst is useless for GreatSword. Lock On is good but not worthy to only have it for an armor piece
Bro can you do the gs sword slap? I saw someone did it
@@domjohn2375 That sounds interesing, I have never done it. Is it really in the game?
@@domjohn2375yes. Charge, tackle and 2nd charge is the slap. 3rd charge is the flip attack.
i swear i did the jumping wide slash before
After tackle if you do not charge but only tap to attack, you will perform jumping slash.
Amazing job!
Thank you!
i dont get it how the shoulder charge should work

Thanks @loto8052. Also remember you need to quickly release your finger after sliding upwards.
