My favorite map right now is probably Altitude. That map is gorgeous, plays differently from other maps, and really ties its gameplay into its setting.
this video absolutely oozes your personality. the editing, the writing, the humour, the flow, it’s all so well made, and i for one am absolutely pumped to see what you have in store for future content. your video editing and creation skills are spectacular, extraordinarily well made video zenith! (also, the ending was beyond incredible, the transition and shift of tone was very smooth)
I actually liked the list a lot, of course I don't agree with Dustbowl because it's more of a guilty pleasure than a map I consider the best, and 5cp Gorge I don't have a lot of experience with the map. But other than that its a pretty good list, also damn it got seep with #1.
1:31 3) District Edit (Explaination): District feels SUPER campy. If your team has an engineer, then it is really hard for you to either cap or get the ball. The layout also feels super confusing, and I feel bad for newer Pass Time players trying to find their way around. I love the theme, but gameplay wise it feels off. 2) Brickyard Edit (Explaination): People play this map for the achievement, but notheless it is still a very fun map. There are areas you can throw into the throw-in goal without having to really go near it 1) Timbertown Edit (Explaination): biased Those are my rankings for Pass Time maps.
The map that makes me the most nostalgic is Cactus Canyon. So many memories. If it's ever completed and added into the game again that's the last update I need
Holy fuck… you got me crying with your favorite map. No cap I think my favorites are Steel and Hydro. Those are the maps i was most proud to explore. I’ve always loved exploring. That’s what brought me joy as a pyro player. I never played as a kid, didn’t get a computer until high school, and even that was a tiny ass laptop that ran very little, even for school. But i finally booted TF2 after college and for the few months i played, between the pyro update and the bots’ arrival, i was happy. Pyro reminded me of my job as a gardener at the time, with the air compressors and rakes i used…. But then i raged at my setup over a car crash i got myself into. I want to return to TF2, to explore Hydro and Steel, with their ever-changing halls and rooms, which remind me of all the video games i played which had me exploring new worlds, from Lego Island 2 to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, to Aquaria, to Dead Cells, to Monstrum, to Rain World. TF2’s maps change so much, and the players are enemies that i struggle to overcome, and different each time i would go in. God i miss some of these games. RIP Aquaria on the App store, good luck running it on PC.
That ending honestly was so relatable, the whole tf2 experience from starting out and discovering a fresh love for a new game. I've never consistently played tf2 but instead visit it every so often, but each time I come back it's like having that feeling of when I was younger first discovering the game again. Such a comforting nostalgia. Amazing video, much love
Finally, someone who doesn't just praise Badwater. I mean there's some good elements to it, but the first and last points are straight up Hell. Not your happy fun time gimmick Halloween Hell. Demons dragging your ass to the thumbscrew pits Hell. You're probably right that a lot of my resentment for Sniper comes from this map in particular. That, and the first point of Upward. Honestly I really like Upward, but that first point alone drops it down for me. Pretty much everywhere you can go other than the resupply cabinet is a Sniper sightline, it's pretty dire. The rest of the map is really good though, so I'm conflicted. DM_Mariokart2_B3 is the only map that actually matters though.
5Gorge was my first ever map. Back before MyM, my best bud and I would search for the one 5gorge map that had no players and would 1v1 duel there until someone joined; then we'd run away and find a new one because we were scared of strangers. Crazy to think someone else out there shares a similar experience on the same map
same dude! 5gorge was the map me and my school friends have stumbled upon in 3-4th grade and we played against each other, even to this day i remember how i got one of the first item drops there, an eyelander, and was shocked that i have a fucking sword now!!!
Maps i like for aesthetics (no real order of preference) 1. Pier 2. Barn Blitz 3. Altitude 4. Mossrock 5. Banana Bay 6. Sawmill 7. Harvest 8. Doublecross 9. Egypt 10. Landfall 11. Swiftwater 12. Snowycoast Probably a couple others that slipped my mind.
Man really made me sit through a half hour vid of him talking about himself and not only enjoy it, but feel a strong emotional response to it. Well done, one of the best vids I have seen recently.
ctf_well envokes the same feelings for me that 5gorge does for you. when i started back in 2014, CTF was basically the only gamemode i played. i quickly got tired of 2Fort and was pretty so-so towards Sawmill, so Well was typically my go-to. Well was where i got my first Domination, it's where i found my Gibus and Pyrovision Goggles. i'm sure most of my class Achievement Milestones were unlocked on Well. i found my first weapon drops on Well, ive played countless rounds of Well with my younger brother. when i wanna play TF2 seriously, ctf_well isn't usually my go-to now-a-days. but every now and then i queue for ctf_well, just cause i know it provides a unique kind of fun. it also helps that ctf_well is one of the better CTF maps, to be honest.
Ok so, Spoiler alert: This video is a f**(👑) emotional roller coaster, It went from a top 10 map ever (with shitpost sprinkled in) to one of the most emotional scene in the world that hits like a truck.
dustbowl is great. It is the king of pub push, no other map can force teamwork like dustbowl. Like if you get sunshine, your team will probably have no coordination, but if you get dustbowl, you team will eventually coordinate into a beautiful push, it may fail but it will be very team
Your opinion on 5gorge is the same opinion I have on mercenary park. It was the first game of tf2, and I was like 12. I didn’t know what I was doing, and I was on blu. I didn’t know how any of the classes work, so I just picked heavy because he was the one I saw in all those funny gmod animations. There was a huge conga party during setup since we were on blu team, so I joined in. I didn’t know how to exit out of a looping taunt though, so I went out doing the conga, only to die via a crit sticky. I lost that game, but it was one of my favorite moments I’ve ever had in a game. So now as a fairly competent player who’s seen every sentry spot, every place an invis spy likes to hide, and whatnot. If I get queued for mercenary park, I just get taken back, and almost always have fun.
I haven’t finished the video yet, but I predict that when they reach the #1 spot there’ll be a joke where it’s 2fort and they start going about how timeless it is, and then go “nah I’m just kidding” and list a map I’ve never heard of. Edit: Damn. Just when I thought I learnt somebody.
I don't play this game and haven't despite it being my first pc shooter, yet your final map placement felt like a perfect retelling of my early years just GAMING for no reason, nothing or no one to prove myself to, just getting through a school day so I could continue enjoying whatever free to play fps I was playing at the time. The music and the night time swap matched pretty well with this heart-squeeze confession, I did not expect this from a tf2 map list. You're pretty epic.
Something I love about Upward is it feels like all 4 points get contested properly. Last isn't a clusterfuck and first has enough routes to be hard to utterly spawncamp.
Love the explaining of the cons first on your favorite map. Not many people use that method of conveying a message but you hit it right on the money. Personally would’ve chose dustbowl for the same reasons you picked 5gorge but totally understand what you see in both sides. Great video, imma always keep playing for because of videos like these.
Badwaters last point took me throwing milk and repeatedly jumping at the cart with force of nature (to push the enemies away from the cart) to even get it down the hill which took 5 minutes.
I’m watching this video on my 2nd anniversary of downloading tf2. The ending genuinely amazes me since it shows how maps and video games can affect somebody’s life greatly. It shows the magic of tf2. I think my favorite maps are Doublecross and maybe Harvest. Doublecross was my first match of tf2 and I was just an engineer trying to figure out what was going on. And harvest for the great times last summer I spent with my friends grinding for achievements and just trying stupid loadouts. Genuinely, thank you zenith for capturing the magic tf2 can bring. This video is beautiful.
I used to boot up empty Sawmill and Thunder Mountain servers and just kinda... Look around. Those cold, snowy winter days, at my desk, blinds open, sipping on Grenadine, just... Vibin'.
Great video man. Have about 4k hours in this game but had to sort of stop during Uni, the end really resonated with me, I miss those days a lot. I'd say my favourite maps are Upward, Hightower, Doublecross, Suijin, Swiftwater.
I always go to 2fort to hate my self constantly I guess. If not I am going to Mercenary Park clutch spaces or a insane payload at some Borneo or Badwater
rewatching this video again from almost a year after my previous rewatch, this video jogged my memory of so many momments in tf2 when i first started. my first item unlock was the rocket jumper and i was still new to steam so i didnt know how to change my steam name from my entire real life name. I got the rocket jumper and tried jumping as soldier, but couldnt figure it out. then, some random soldier player switched and helped me learn how to rocket jump, that i need to crouch, not to press W while in the air, and everything. it was on harvest and after about 3 minutes i finally got from the spawn door to our teams roof and I was so excited. i added him and we would continue playing for the next few months until i took a break. all of his accounts unfortunatley were deleted or he might've unfriended me. so theres my 3rd favorite map (experience with community wise) and why it is my 2nd favorite map has to be nucleus, so many times where im just playing dumb strategies, so many flanks to suprise people, so open so that everyone can do their own thing. It's also where i met an idol of mine, averagef2p, i was a big fan of his content and i randomaly just met him in a nucleus map and was playing medic so i pocketed him cause he was really good at engie, i didnt even realize until the next match that he was averagef2p. I was so happy to meet someone so prominent in the tf2 community. we were constantally talking back and forth and he was just a great guy to talk too, very funny. he did the unthinkable and actually ended up friending me on steam after that match, i continued to play with him over the next month and managed to connect with him on discord. I remember getting home to my mom's house on a saturday in late september, seeing that f2p was about to start streaming mvm, and i would join his party. i must've played about 4-5 times with him and even saw one of our teamates get an aussie medigun drop one time. however, just like the previous story, i ended up taking a break from tf2, and i slowly drifted apart from f2p. coming back months later to see he unfriended me on steam, as sad as i was, i remembered that i still actually got to meet him, and had a great time whilst playing with him, and it was all because i went out of my norm and queued for some nucleus. my favorite map in tf2 has to be badwater basin. i use to play so much engineer as he was the class i wanted to main from the start and that was the first map i played on after spending the first bit of money i had on tf2. i'd bought the medic and engineer starter pack weapon bundles, i was a noob and didnt realize they were insanley over priced. but i was playing some engineer when i realized that we didnt have any medic, so i switched to medic as i had just bought the bundle and wanted to try out his unlocks, i went out into the battlefield and had no clue what i was doing, but just then, same with the 1st story, a kind soldier started teaching me how to play medic, telling me how to uber, which classes to prioritize healing and that i got priority for health packs and to always stay behind cover. I followed his lead and started pocketing him, i didnt have a mic so i couldnt communicate, but we ended up going on a about 13 killstreak together, and at the end of the match he said something that would forever change my tf2 career he said, "you know, you are a really good medic" those simple words insipred me to become a medic main and sink over 1700 hours into the game as of now, (rookie numbers, i know) and, as of just 2 weeks ago, i joined a 6's rgl team as the teams medic, and it was all because of those simple words. thank you tf2, you changed my life and brought me so many friends, there is no way i can ever repay this game for its well deserved debt i owe it.♥
One day you will hate the game and call it the worst ever made. The next day you will join a game and have the best time in your life, tf2 is just that game that will forever be apart of my mind. It will never die in my world, because the memories that it has given me will stay until I depart this world for good. Loved this video, and the ending was everything that I personally think of Mountain Lab. Thank you Zenith for this video, this is what makes my days. Watching things like this.
I always had the most fun on Harvest, for some reason rushing as Scout to the enemy building before they even get there is just fan as hell, also jumping on top of the building with the objective is also epic because you can totally destroy those soldiers when they panic and don't know where are you. Also for some reason this is the only map I nearly have 0 bots on
I think there's a complete army of people whose fav map is typically shit because of that exact same reason: playing on it and remembering early days in which they were just starting out the game, without having heavy responsibilities. I'm also in that army lol. Also 5gorge, good shit.
Hey, who left this bowl of onions here? No cap, first video and I already love your style of editing, you definitely earned my sub, keep up the good shit
haha i liked ur list and 5gorge is one of my top favorite maps too. but my all time favorite, unpopular, and weirdly map of all time, tc_hydro. i think the map is so perfect and great for team cordination and unique from any map ive ever played. i think people need to respect it more :)
I have recently found a deep love for Swiftwater, It's where I'm fleshing out what kind of player I am. I have so may options on that map, and I get to learn so much
I feel you man, 5cp gorge was the first map I ever played on, and it was also when I decided spy was my main. BUT DAMN IT ISN'T THE BEST MAP BY A LONG SHOT
I actually really like Badwater last. It’s got multiple flanks and the sentry spots aren’t super strong. I’d definitely say it’s better than Upward, Frontier, and Swiftwater lasts. Upward, which is probably my favorite map, has that one “default” sentry spot that can shut down most pubs (though I don’t find it that hard to push). For me the only weak part of Badwater is the third point.
My favourite map is hightower because it is practically a team pvp mode without end and i can get into action fast just after getting out of the spawn.
I've just recently actually started to play the game instead of being on trade servers all the time 2fort or hightower and i've come to realise i really don't like the majority of the maps or i just played them way too frequently that are boring now (example: upward). I really think some of these maps should be added cause they look fire.
3:34 Good vid but if that is a bait then I'm a master baiter because that medic was smart in leaving because what would've happen if he had stayed was the two demos sticky trapping his exit while the pyro stops the push by airblasting the soldier away.
This was an amazing video

I followed his lead and started pocketing him, i didnt have a mic so i couldnt communicate, but we ended up going on a about 13 killstreak together, and at the end of the match he said something that would forever change my tf2 career he said, "you know, you are a really good medic"
those simple words insipred me to become a medic main and sink over 1700 hours into the game as of now, (rookie numbers, i know) and, as of just 2 weeks ago, i joined a 6's rgl team as the teams medic, and it was all because of those simple words.
thank you tf2, you changed my life and brought me so many friends, there is no way i can ever repay this game for its well deserved debt i owe it.♥
One day you will hate the game and call it the worst ever made.
24:17 scared the shit out of me, Mista White 💀💀💀
Also night time 5gorge is beautiful.
The ending of the video was very touching and expresses a feeling I think many of us can relate to. Thank you for sharing.
favorite type of cereal?

Cinnamon toast crunch

I always had the most fun on Harvest, for some reason rushing as Scout to the enemy building before they even get there is just fan as hell, also jumping on top of the building with the objective is also epic because you can totally destroy those soldiers when they panic and don't know where are you.
Also for some reason this is the only map I nearly have 0 bots on
Youre probably not gonna see this but i wanted to say this vid is great. The editing was top notch throughout it. Cant wait to see the next one
he will never see this 🥣
That video was really gold made
my friend feels mostly the same way you about badwater for upward. He hates last, he hates the players, and genuinely thinks it sucks.
I think there's a complete army of people whose fav map is typically shit because of that exact same reason: playing on it and remembering early days in which they were just starting out the game, without having heavy responsibilities.
I'm also in that army lol. Also 5gorge, good shit.
I'm a pretty big fan of Pier. That is my go to payload map after too many rounds of Badwater
you are MENTAL, and you know what? I think I may be going nuts too for liking Pier
Hey, who left this bowl of onions here?
No cap, first video and I already love your style of editing, you definitely earned my sub, keep up the good shit
Massively agree when it comes to Badwater, I really don't get the love people have for that map. Also, love the Air Ride OST usage.
The only real reason I like badwater is because the first point is really fun on blu, and the last point is really fun on red. Das bout it.
Skipping in the no standing zone? You've got my vote, famous youtuber zinith985!
haha i liked ur list and 5gorge is one of my top favorite maps too. but my all time favorite, unpopular, and weirdly map of all time, tc_hydro. i think the map is so perfect and great for team cordination and unique from any map ive ever played. i think people need to respect it more :)
Thank you for the captions. Liked the video
Glad to see another Swiftwater ninjaneer!
I was really not ready for you to make me cry at the end. Thanks I guess?
Hey Zenith, just wondering. What's your thoughts on the map Steel?
Finally another Gorge enjoyer. Favorite map hands-down
I have recently found a deep love for Swiftwater, It's where I'm fleshing out what kind of player I am. I have so may options on that map, and I get to learn so much
Phoenix imo.
I thought I was going insane thinking I was the only guy that didn’t like badwater.
>"Every game of badwater plays the same."
>"Swiftwater is really fun!"
1:48 Very smooth transition
Very heartwarming ending you made
Dude this pops off, love the ending
I feel you man, 5cp gorge was the first map I ever played on, and it was also when I decided spy was my main. BUT DAMN IT ISN'T THE BEST MAP BY A LONG SHOT
The more i play banana bay the more i appreciate its design philosophy
0:32 I divert attention to the in game chat.
Zenith levitates into the air and falls at a high speed whenever anybody mentions badwater
great vid zen! when is the valorant map list coming tho???
😰
swagger, one of my favourite videos from you so far
No thunder mountain? Bring on the thunder baby! Bgrah blugha!
3:07 Ive been doing a round for 1 hour the teams were actually ballanced
Man I love Dustbowl so much and I cannot really explain why
I actually really like Badwater last. It’s got multiple flanks and the sentry spots aren’t super strong. I’d definitely say it’s better than Upward, Frontier, and Swiftwater lasts. Upward, which is probably my favorite map, has that one “default” sentry spot that can shut down most pubs (though I don’t find it that hard to push). For me the only weak part of Badwater is the third point.
Weapon Reskins
the Mario Kart map is what every TF2 player stands for
My favourite map is hightower because it is practically a team pvp mode without end and i can get into action fast just after getting out of the spawn.
Oh my god I used to play on the Minecraft map at 0:37 ALL THE TIME
Classic trade server days
-Calls PLR a garbage gamemode
You weren't kidding about those hottakes, might as well call em nuclear blast takes
Bro, that end of the vídeo... Was great,
Very underrated video good job
i love swiftwater because thats where i got my first chainstab
This video is half about the maps and half about zenith complaining about his past teammate
God damn, this is just supposed to be some their list dammit! Why you make me cry at the end!
I've just recently actually started to play the game instead of being on trade servers all the time 2fort or hightower and i've come to realise i really don't like the majority of the maps or i just played them way too frequently that are boring now (example: upward). I really think some of these maps should be added cause they look fire.
5gorge is a based pick
ngl zenith you have some of the best takes out of the tf2ubers
walter white falling jumpscare 24:18 😱
(I'm not even joking this actually scares me everytime)
4:59 I guess you could say it's... Gorgeous
3:34 Good vid but if that is a bait then I'm a master baiter because that medic was smart in leaving because what would've happen if he had stayed was the two demos sticky trapping his exit while the pyro stops the push by airblasting the soldier away.
