    One after another, great advice and resources! Brett, I must give you my words of upmost appreciation and respect for everything you do for coaches and leaders out there. Every time a new podcast episode, reflection, video, and any other resource comes out, I'm always incredibly grateful. Keep doing what you're doing and I'll make sure to put everything into practice and keep learning and growing.

    Wish I heard this advice years ago and had read all the information you're providing. It would have helped out that long career road.

    Awesome content! I’m 40 years old been a trainer since 2003. I’ve worked in private performance facilities and learned a ton working along side Strength coaches, Physios , Physical therapists and only now getting my bachelors degree in Kinesiology. Never too late i guess. Any seminars coming soon ?

    I‘m interested in a CSCS and a CPSS, i would like to work with athletes but also interested in fields like sport performance science. Can you add certifications later?

    • @BrettBartholomewCoach
      @BrettBartholomewCoach  3 місяці тому

      Absolutely. It all just depends on where you’re trying to work (high-school, college, pro, private etc.) each will have their own requirements or standards. CSCS is imperfect (what isn’t) but is most widely recognized in the US. I cover more of this on my podcast as well. artofcoaching.com/podcast/

    I see so many strength coaches these days who can’t or never have actually trained heavy then I see them with their athletes and I cringe… I recently refused to let someone at my sons school coach them and took it upon myself who has an 1800+ lb total and now I have his teammates parents asking what I charge. I’m an electrician by trade and I’d think I would want certs of some kind to cover my ass. A lot of trainers out there gets certs with no real world experience

      Thanks for sharing your perspective! Hopefully these resources have helped. The perspective of a lot of coaches who have trained and done the work can be found here: www.amazon.com/Conscious-Coaching-Science-Building-Buy/dp/1543179479/ref=nodl_

    Is the NASM PES certification a good one as well?

    • @BrettBartholomewCoach
      @BrettBartholomewCoach  Рік тому

      Sure! Just depends on your goal for employment. You should always check and see what the job postings require. Otherwise you’ll chase your tail.

  • @ehh3140

    So should you get a master in strength and conditioning or is that a waste of time

    • @BrettBartholomewCoach
      @BrettBartholomewCoach  Рік тому

      Depends on your goal- if you want to work in the collegiate setting you will likely need it.
      However- you do not need it to become a strength coach in all settings.
      The most important thing is having your degree (most job postings require it along with a recognized cert which also needs a degree) you also NEED firsthand experience. Too many uneducated coaches out there doing nonsense and also plenty of OVEReducated coaches with no real experience.

    What advice do you have for someone who wants to get the CSCS but doesn’t know how to start and has a degree in education and not the exercise science field!
