    11:06 If you reverse the order of the blade spacers, they key and stack together; no need to slide them in. Makes it much easier to install the blades 👍

    I’m loading packs without removing the canopy, so the canopy being removed with less frequency will reduce cracking and pin removal. No need for magnets. Also the head shims can be loctited at the collar, so they won’t fall out.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  8 місяців тому

      I keep my canopy on as well. I have not removed it besides this video since the model was built. But! If you need to remove your canopy for whatever reason after a few times, it is going to crack. All fiberglass canopies do. That’s a good idea with the shims but still wish they had a thick and thin so that would not be needed.

    Great video! Thanks! This has got some real beefy parts in it. However, got me the Align TB70 (Super Combo) after your video on that, so I'll stick with that one. It's still in the box, though. I may swap out the MicroBeast that came with it for something else, too.

    • @paulnelson5314
      @paulnelson5314 8 місяців тому +2

      I too have a TB70, but I got the ultimate combo. Running an iKon2 with an SRXL receiver and a satellite with antennas. Gens Ace 5100 12s pack, IX-14 tx. Getting 5 and 6 minute flights at low head speeds. I really like it. Jeff’s videos have helped me immensely, I recommend his previous vids to help with set ups

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  8 місяців тому +2

      Thank you! The TB70 is a very nice kit! I would highly recommend swapping out the microbeast for a iKon 2! You will thank me later you get so many more features, and tunability with the iKon 2 than you ever would with a microbeast. The only thing you need to be careful love on the TB70 is the main gear. They are notorious for exploding in flight, but apparently they came out with the update? So I would look at the one in your kit.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  8 місяців тому +2

      I hate the body clips! But if you do ALOT of backwards flying the canopy can/will rip off. Which they were a lock style like SAB. Hopefully soon! Gotta buy a M7 and everything for it.

  • @paulnelson5314
    @paulnelson5314 8 місяців тому +2

    When I watched the build video, I also disliked all the head shimming as well. Tail drive on top for me is a hard no. Other than those two issues, looks like a solid machine.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  8 місяців тому +1

      The two shims is a real pain on top and bottom of the blades. I completely understand that each blade is different and some need more or less but I would like to of seen a thicker and thinner shim design. The belt being on top is a real pain if you need to remove the boom for whatever reason.

    always amazes me how heavey they end up at...11 lbs is a big weight especially if it hits you in the head at speed.....surprised to see the main gear looking a bit feather edged. looks like a nice heli and one you would get good fun to fly with as it has all the buttons in the right places.

      Helicopters are very dangerous, especially this size. If they hit you in the head you’re dead. If they hit you at all your extremely hurt or worse. You have to respect this size heli.

    Jeff, thank you 🙏🏼 for your inspiration and knowledge, how much backlash should there be, between the helical pinion gear ⚙️ on the motor and the bigger nylon gear that drives the main rotor blades, say on the Blade Fusion 360 smart ? I am planning on getting the 550 stretch super combo kit for my birthday 🎂 in May 👍🏻

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  8 місяців тому +2

      You’re welcome! Thank you for watching and supporting the channel. I greatly appreciate it. So any helicopter regardless of the size you can do the paper method. If you watch the second or last part of the build series,(can’t remember which one) you will see me do this method. you want a piece of paper, the size of the gear and you run it in between the pinion and the main gear. Look at the paper and see what the marks look like. If it is a perfect indentation with no cuts, your gear mesh is perfect. If it cuts through the paper, it’s too tight and if it barely leaves any marks it’s too loose. Been doing this method for over 20 years and it works great.

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Fantastic information ℹ️ , as a lifelong machinist, I tried to “set it up” as tight as possible with almost zero backlash, and it felt almost tight to myself, but. . . with the magnets 🧲 of the motor it was difficult to know what’s, what 😮. Thinking 🤔 about getting the Blade Fusion 550 quick build kit super combo for upcoming birthday 🎂. It seems logical to me ! ? ?

      Great question! So far I prefer the RAW 700. The RS7 is great at high head speed but seems to struggle at lower and feel heavy. The RAW 700 is easier to work on and wire, faster build and flys great at all head speeds. Both models have there place but I would recommend the RAW 700!

RS7 is a nice machine but you are right, those 3 things (upper mounted tail belt pulley, canopy and double shimes per each rotor blade side) can be improved to make it super nice
