Most of the women in my life passed in their 50’s so I was thrilled when I turned 60 and am now in my 70’s. I guess for that reason, I had the “live for today for tomorrow may never come” mentality. I worked a few years past my retirement age & helped with grandchildren’s after school care. I most certainly was not prepared financially for retirement, especially after my husband passed and that ended his social security income. A mistake we made, and many working people make, is that when you have life insurance thru you job, retire because of health issues (my husband) then to obtain life insurance is out of reach financially. I’ve learned to cut expenses as low as I can, but there will always be unexpected expenses. Despite challenges, I consider myself very blessed to have the love of family, a roof over my head, food to eat, but I definitely should have done a better job preparing for retirement. Not much help for those looking at retirement though.
On a more positive note, the eye makeup looks great. I’ve tried a couple of the ELF products & I like them so far.

Margaret, I love watching your videos. You're so real. I retired last April at the age of 67 with just a little retirement money saved. You just learn to make ends meet. As for finding something to keep yourself busy, you could go for walks or join groups such as bird watching or exercise groups. You could also take up pottery classes and sell what you make. Even if you're not good at it at first, you'll improve, make money and be socializing with people. You could knit/crochet items and sell those. I wish I had retired sooner. You just need to keep active, try new things and have fun with your life.

  • @suzannaconstantinephotogra3160

I also bought the very expensive eye line lifters. I had absolutely no luck at all. I wasn’t able to get the little tape pieced in the right place. I would find them all over my face, on my fingers or in the sink! $25 I think! Literally down the drain.

Hello from Canada! I am new to your videos and really enjoy them. I retired at 58 after 35 yrs of service in a university setting. I took care of my elderly mom until she passed on 5 yrs ago. I was eligible to retire at 55 but decided to work another 3 yrs. Working helped me as I was dealing with grief. When I did retire I found the transition difficult. Suddenly I had nothing to do. There is only so much housework you can do. Also I still was sorting through severe grief. This year I am starting to feel better and looked into programs for me. I joined a cooking class at a local community centre. I love it so much. I also joined a Meals on Wheels program as a cook. These are ways to meet people make new friends. It gives me a purpose to get up in the morning.
A suggestion regarding your retirement. Maybe you can do videos about cutting hair at home. Or for extra income you can cut people's hair in your own home. Or you can visit senior residences and cut their hair for a small fee. Many of them cannot visit a hair salon. Just some suggestions. Happy Easter!

Those are all very good suggestions! I’m 71 and retired from teaching several years ago. I NEEDED something meaningful to do. I tried substituting- that was not a good fit for me. I spent time in some different ladies groups/bible study groups, but that was short term. Not my cup of tea. I’m now working several hours a week at the front desk in a periodontist’s office. It’s been great! All of the people who work there are relatively young. Most of the patients are older people. I just love talking to them and we can relate to many of the same things. It’s a win win!

Love your Channel Margaret. Retirement is a big decision I know. Some helpful hints that helped me was pay off all debts and if your home is paid for that is huge. My home is not paid for and that is a big bite out of my income. However, just because you retire doesn’t mean you have to keep doing the same things. Take as much stress and responsibility off of you as you can. Find a fun part time job and enjoy your life. You are wonderful. My love and prayers for your happiness.

Yes, I had a near death experience, actually the doctor said I was dead, and I remember it as clearly as yesterday. 54 years ago, while delivering my 1st baby, I was doing the breathing routine, and the next thing I knew there was a soft yet bright yellowish light at the end of what seemed to be a tunnel that was the prettiest blue black and I was going to the light, it was so peaceful and I couldn't wait to get there. The next thing I knew I was back in the delivery room and my Dad was there, which I thought was odd, my Dad was in there, which wasn't allowed. He had tears in his eyes, I'd never seen that before, and he asked me if I was all right. I told him, "That was the best sleep I'd had in 9 months". The nurses started laughing and the next thing I knew I was in my room and got a wake up call from my mother in law, saying my daughter was deformed. I started screaming for the nurses to bring me my daughter. She was fine, a little smushed from delivery but already plumping up. So yeah, I believe there's something after death, I don't know what it is, but I'm not afraid of it.

Margaret, you don't have the kind of eyes that would be changed a lot by those eyelid tapes. You eyes are very open and your moveable lid shows, probably because your eyes are deepset which is a blessing. As for your retirement situation, have you seen a financial advisor who can look at everything and help you design a plan? And why not work on developing your channel? Get more viewers, get more money, recommend products you believe in and get paid for it. You have a good start already with 7000 viewers in a short while just showing your day to day life, and you're a beauty professional. There are several older lady beauty influencers but not many have your background, to say nothing of your personality and charisma. You have all the ingredients to have a big channel. Go for it!

@@MargaretbeingMargaret Well I meant in retirement you can keep yourself busy by working on your channel. You can learn video editing, improve your camera skills, explore other subjects like maybe, what how DO other people spend their time after retirement? Maybe they join squaredancing clubs. So you go take a squaredancing lesson, talk to the people you meet. And get it all on video. All with your very special Margaret being Margaret slant. I mean, that's just an example. You coud do anything. I bet you've stood behind people chairs and listened to their life stories while you were cutting their hair. You're probably already a skilled interviewer.

Oh Margaret, I will be 78 in July and still work full time at a job I really enjoy. I tried retiring in my 60s but found playing bridge, which I love, 4 days a week became like a stressful job. The opportunity arose for this work and it evolved. Like you, I am so antsy, I am a lousy volunteer, owned my biz for many years. Was very unhappy sitting around watching soaps and eating bonbons! 😂When I really needed to cut back I happily decided to think about my younger years - yes, sometimes I could only afford a gallon of gas at a time. But I loved it. Have never regretted some of the crazy choices I’ve made for the most part. You will know when and happily figure out how to enjoy the back nine years of your life. I really believe that. ❤. You’re truly a wonderful soul - trust your instincts. All will be good.

Hi Margaret, will be 70 in May. Don't have plans to retire. Work as a paralegal. Total dream job. After office came back to life after COVID hiatus, decided to work 4 days a week. Usually 32 hours. Like you, am not as prepared as maybe I should be to stop working. But honestly don't want to stop. Have seen too many friends retire and have aged horribly. I watch Kate Kaden a lot and has great advice on saving. Learned much from her and as a result am building savings!! I am a believer and ask God to direct my path. Would be doing a disservice to Him if didn't say that. Ok, I make my life as easy as possible. Mentioned I had powder brows done. Next lip blushing. 2 less things to do🤣🤣 there's a whole community of us Gorgeous Ladies who contemplate retiring and if we can handle it financially. What I learned is it's never too late to start a plan and to start a realistic budget. Enjoy the lasagna and the awesome company🤗🌼🐰

8:29 Powder wins. The line under your eye is a way of lifting your eye up and connecting it to the upper eye. If you put it all the way along the bottom of the eye lid it makes your eye one big circle and you don’t want that. Love the new eyebrow pencil and I will be trying that as I have very little eyebrow hair and for some stupid reason if I grow any new eyebrow hair it likes to sprout mid eyelid.

Hi Margaret great Video! I Love that your Cat was still around you after its passing. you gave me chills. I Love that she was trying to let you know she was still with you. I felt my Coco our little family dog around me after I had to take her to do the same at 13 yrs old. It was one of the hardest but loving things we can do for our pets I believe. None of My kids or hubby came into the Vets with me because they were so heartbroken. But I knew she needed her mommy to hold her and comfort her and I asked for a kiss which she gave me and I her. I balled my eyes out that night afterwards. I swear I could hear her little nails on the kitchen floor and to this day if I think of her I say Hi Sweet Coco I miss you. My middle son took her loss the hardest I think. I told the Vet if only People can go so peacefully. I was weeping and yet felt relieved for my pup that she wasn't suffering anymore. On a lighter note. You do have so much Pep in your step always. Food for thought because you asked, my Aunt lives in a senior housing and there is a woman hairstylist that comes to her apartment and Gives her Perms and haircuts and several other people in the building she is around 68 years young. I met her a few times she is so energetic and social. I thought her to be more my age 60-63. My Godmother said this woman loves that she can still have a side hustle as she can make her clients appointments that are convenient for them and her. She will do a few people in one day at the Highrise. She gets to socialize and the seniors get an hour or so of companionship and end up feeling so good about themselves with the TLC she offers them. You can collect your SSI and still make money on the side and stay as active as you want to be. The seniors appreciate it so much too. My Aunt just turned 88 still drives but she loves the convenience of her Stylist coming to her with her bad back. Just a thought. You wouldn't have to worry about a staff and could reap all the rewards for yourself. As there comes a time I guess when you have to put yourself first. PS you do Not need those eye lifters at all and I Love ELF and LA eyebrow and eye liner soft pencils. Your color choice is perfect for you it looks very natural and pretty. Your Rocking your Look! Okay, Margaret. It sounds like you're worrying about becoming a stiff lump in a chair, who has to rock back and forth 10 times to stand up.
A lot of people don't like to exercise. I don't even like the word. To stay "active", I do yoga. Yes, I know, getting up and down from the floor is not easy. I know reaching out to grab your toes while sitting on the floor may mean you can only grab your knees! But in a few months or even weeks you would be surprised at how quickly you will see improvement.
I prefer to do my yoga in the privacy of my own home. I hate the idea of getting up, getting ready, going out and getting sweaty and going home, only to have to strip down and shower and get ready again.
I got a great video, I can work at my own pace or skip a day without anyone quizzing me about why I wasn't there or offering sympathies about my not feeling well while digging into my personal life.
Also, and most importantly, I may have to pass a little gas, which has been loud enough to drowned out the video, and no one giggles or tries to shame me for doing something as natural and human as burping. That's belching to snobs.
If that doesn't appeal to you, I'm currently teaching myself to bellydance to a zippy little dvd I found on Amazon. I buy them, so I'll have them and if I want to whirl like a girl at 3:52 AM, I can and nobody's the wiser! A little food for thought. Take pottery, painting, or any of the many things there are to do. You don't have to sit around and turn to stone or become a chronic whiner!
I'm 75, pushing hard on 76 and enjoy many things I could never do before. Husbands, jobs, annoying people (including family) or something to always hold me back and demand my time instead.
Retirement is a blessing. Treasure it, nurture it, cuddle it and enjoy it. You worked for it, you earned it. Many people never get to see it or not much of it. Celebrate it!
Good luck with it, Margaret. The only thing holding you back is you! 💕💕💕

Why do you have to retire? Clearly you enjoy your shop and the girls you work with. Who says you have to retire. If hadn't had bad health, I'd love to still be working, granted fewer hours but still around what I loved doing. If you are able stay with it as long as you can.

It is never to late to put aside for your retirement. You could sell the business and then manage the shop for owners. Can you get Socical security and then save the amount ? Still work while you plan to retire and find some things to keep busy. I know that retirement is scary but God can work things out for you. ❤

Hi Margaret, love watching you especially the makeup and hair ideas. I am 78 and am learning from you : )) I do have a suggestion, but it's probably what I would do, how I would need it - your background on the grey dresser. It cracks me up how you just have clothes laying on it. Did you ever think to maybe put one of your green plants, or flowers, even a fake orchid or arrangement and a nice candle??? It would make you more professional, another giggle, giggle! So don't change who you are just keep being Margaret being Margaret! Oh, and can you maybe sew or find some cute drapes behind you, it looks like a towel over the window. Your fans are growing and I think this would help you grow too!

lol. You’re killing me! the dresser has some crocheting I have to package for gifts. I keep forgetting they are there. That’s not a window behind me. That’s a wall and the hanging is a throw my son bought handmade in Machu Picchu for me! I hung it to protect it from the cats!!

Margaret volunteering would be great for you you like to be around people if you have a local hospital who has a volunteer program go check it out. You can pick the number of days you want to volunteer. Usually you’ll volunteer for 3 to 4 hours. Many hospitals give you a free lunch or breakfast when you are there. I do it myself and have been doing it for 10 years and I’m 67. You would be great! Do it Margaret!❤

My first impulse is to suggest volunteering at a humane society. You love cats and you're active. Shelters need the animals in its care to be socialized. The shelter I volunteer at has the word, "dog," in the name so people naturally assume that it's a shelter for dogs when, in fact, it also has cats. We had plenty of dog walking volunteers, so as the unofficial "cat lady," the staff would ask me to check in on the cat room to answer potential adopter questions. The other volunteers would seek me out to talk about cats. Eventually, I was given a part-time job as an adoption counselor. I got health insurance! Follow the pawprints, you'll find your way. =^..^=

Hey Margaret, I keep thinking about all of the things you shared in this video. I think you're getting a handle on the makeup thing. The financial stuff you might want to get some advice about. At least lock down your spending (no more overpriced plastic eye lift thingies!) and then a plan to get a side gig going to pull in some extra $. One of the thoughts I had was actually monetizing this channel (I think you may have been heading in this direction with the mug?). You have over seven thousand subscribers and people that love you and would gladly spread you around the internet. Another thought was maybe your "thing" could be to reach out and help people who are in exactly the same state of life you are in and helping them with what has worked and not worked for you in surviving retirement, mistakes made, corrections made, ideas for the future. There are likely sponsors who would gladly get their products on your channel, but you'd have to decide what products are relative to your "message". Anyway, I have vision for you and where you're going with this. This place could be where people come to know they are not alone and leave with some helpful ideas! Good luck, you're doing great (you remind me of my mother, big time!).

I monetized this channel several months ago. I do hope that it grows enough to supplement retirement. I have been approached by a couple of sponsors, but I would only go that route if it was something I really believe in! I can’t see myself doing merchandising, but I hope the channel and you guys will be around for a long time. Thanks!

Like the new eyebrow pencil. I was thinking your hair was flat but then you gave it life. Yea, I know. Mom is always right. There is a lot of things I wish I would've listened to her. Check Dave Ramsey out . He is great with money. Do you think god is using people to show he is real?

First, you are so pretty and have the cutest personality. I enjoy your sense of humor.
Since you asked, my take is that people do not magically know things they otherwise wouldn't know. So how are they getting information, like knowing to bring up a cat? They are slick cons (likely), or something is giving them the information and it could very well be a demon. I wouldn't open a door to a demon, who is only interested in hurting you. I know you are not Christian, but why take a chance on opening yourself to either a con artist or worse, a demon? This father explains it better: ua-cam.com/video/_5LW4WMzubc/v-deo.html
Hope you get to retire soon. Bless you in all you do!

Margaret - I have been listening to a you tube creator, “Centsible Living with Money Mom”. She is only in her 50’s (lol) In addition to You tube and doing product demonstrations at stores, she schedules Mystery Shoppers. I don’t know much about it yet but apparently companies hire people to pretend to be shoppers at stores to evaluate their shopping experience. I’m not an in store shopper, but thought I’d mention it. The part I’m interested in is she is now a scheduler. Companies hire her to schedule shoppers to go into their stores. Honestly I’m totally ignorant about it but she says she’s more than willing to share information to help anyone get started. Maybe google it to see if that’s something you’d be interested in.🤷🏻‍♀️
