I'm still a bit unsure about how to keep the parts of a bulb enema sterile in between use, as its hard to dry the inside of the balloon... dampness attracts all sorts of bacteria and fungus. I don't like to use water irrigation too often as it potentially washes away essential colonic flora and interferes with final vitamin absorption and production that happens in the bowel. Does anyone reading have any reliable info, or tips re. this question of keeping the parts bacteria free in between use? PS I thought I would share alternative methods of flushing bowels with cheap and accessible, osmotic laxative-type supplements: (megadosing) Vit C (ie ascorbic acid powder), Magnesium Chloride capsules, MSM , or Ayuverdic Triphala. Any of these, (or any combo), plus 2 large tumblers of water, (or powder dissolved in lots of water, which can be flavoured/juice/tea) .... They all require a bit of experimentation to get the right personal dose. They work best on an empty stomach and passively within 1-2 hours of taking - longer time, so maybe not for quickie pleasure on whim). Some of them in powder form don't taste great, I have to say, but they are effective alternatives to anal douching that have the additional and positive health benefits of supplementing essential minerals vitamins, which prevent disease-forming internal oxidisation, lower bad cholesterol, risk of developing diabetes, bone degeneration etc. Interested readers might like to research for themselves (eg Linus Pauling Vit C flush; Triphal benefits, MSM uses, The importance of Magnesium etc). (Traditional oat, or keto porridge are fibrous bowel friendly foods that I found will help bowel regularity - if you're not a big fan of prunes and heaps of vegetables)
I just put some of my body wash in the bulb and fill it about 1/4 of the way with water and then shake it around really well then squirt it all out. Then I take the tip off so that the bulb can dry out and I hang it in a place where any water left in it can drip out

For travel, baby bottle sterilising tabs. However, I've also found a very handy, rechargeable, electronic pump enema on US amazon. Eliminates back flow. Easier for my arthritic hands... came with a bag for travel. I've also had a bidet toilet seat installed. Totally worth it. The "turbo function" does a partial enema, which suffices to trigger clearance, (along with a daily portion of soluble fibre or keto porridge). I use less loo roll, plus a nice clean poop hole makes one feel so civilized!
