I don't think he's a unicorn. Especially when we remember that the novel was written by a man. There are great guys out there, only that they often go unnoticed and are overlooked by less modest men.

I love how you've been able to grasp this, no one here could :) you also noticed the roundness of the movie? that in the ending scene she wears the same clothes as in the opening one? yes, the thread can also be read in this key, that in the beggining she throws him a challenge ( "you will never be able to tame me") which he picks up and succesfully completes through kindness and trustworthiness then withdraws at the right moment alowing her to confront her feelings and the perspective of a life without him. :)
@@Mehadi_Hasan2211 it was her choice to use the word "tame", not mine... but to be honest I understand her choice of words because I feel the same. She is passionate and a free spirit and she doesn't want to be tied down by someone who doesn't inspire her, who will tell her what to do and take her freedom away (she thinks Gabriel is like this, and would force her to live a provincial life). I think what she is saying is if she were to settle down, she'd want someone who inspires her to choose him and not feel resentment for having to settle down. She is not opposed to settling, she does want to find someone to love and who loves her, but she doesn't want to be told what to do. She wants it to be her choice, she wants him to be such an excellent choice that she'll feel no resentment or disappointment whatsoever for "settling" for him. This is what she calls "tame me", and this is what he does. With steady patience he shows her he would not curtail her freedom or ask her to be less than what she is, so she realises that he is the person she can rely on and who loves just the way she is and is only asking for the same. He "tames" her because she has allowed it to be so, because she chose it.
i never thought anyone could play gabriel oak as good as alan bates in 60s version , but matthias schoenaerts has nailed it for me.i love thomas hardy novels and most novels have been made into films one being Tess of the Derbervilles, Hardy had some terrific charactors in his books, and the films have donevthem justice.
So glad I looked up Bathsheba and decided to click on this video or else I’d never of know about this movie. I’m going to try and find it and watch it because I love movies like these. Pride and Prejudice is still one of my favorites so maybe this will be the another.
OMG this video is amazing! It's one of my favourite Gabriel & Bathsheba videos on UA-cam. I got chills watching it and made me fall in love with Gabriel even more. The editing is fantastic and the music suits the scenes so beautifully. I love how you've captured the looks of love and affection between Bathsheba and Gabriel. I've seen the film and it was breathtaking. Definitely want to read the book as well!
what i love about Gabriel Oak is that he doesn't force a woman to succumb to him,,, he waits patiently till she naturally puts her guard down which is why Bathsheba always felt safe with him. waiting for my Gabriel
I thought she doesn't deserve him .. she was foolish and married the soldier really quickly against her own principals. Even when she felt that there's something odd in her marriage she didn't act or do anything !! And Gabriel, he was there for her all the way supporting and protecting her
Thxxx Godddd i finallyyy found dis movie i read this novel in my high school course n was desperatly waiting for the movie to be found wow m.so happy bt whr is the full movie i wana watch
I love Carey Mulligan a lot - but I just didn't think she fit this role as perfectly as one could. The last Far From The Madding Crowd had a better performance I think - more natural, real, explosive, vivid - this just wasn't real enough for me. I still like her a lot though - I just think there could have been better, more real actresses/performances - like Lizzy Bennet in Pride And Prejudice the TV one, or Emma Thompson in her movies - someone like that.
On paper it would seem that Carey would be perfect but for some reason she is not and I don't know why. But Schoenarts is definitely perfect and the final scene is brilliant.

A Unicorn indeed

Evelin Menezes Yeah, I really didn’t mean there are no guys like him. I’m sure there are. I just think they are very rare, especially now a days.

There is no such a man only in fairytales
Gabriel: "If I knew you...that you would let me love you and marry you..."

@@irinafiruti Wow..Good observation. !!!!!
The word tame is stupid. It's her choice after all and all this things he did when he withdrew it gave her mental pressure. That's unhealthy

Okay but "tame" is really not the word for me... It's more of a realization. Taming is different... Yk?

This was so well made. Great choice of music, scenes, colouring, voice overs... really well done!

I really fall in love with the movie 😍😍 the chemistry between Mr.Oak and Bathseba 😍😍
My dear husband is my own Farmer Oak. I do not deserve him and the book always reminds me of the blessing he is.
Wow! Does he have any single brothers?!!
Gabriel Oak and Atticus Finch are my favorite men from novels.
So glad I looked up Bathsheba and decided to click on this video or else I’d never of know about this movie.

I love this movie. I love it more that I only need to watch this
to catch all the parts I really want to see.
Beautiful. Really stunning. I've fallen in love with them all over again.
Matthias 🤗What manly perfection! Thank you for this nice montage.
Thank you for this beautifully crafted caption of this films essence . . . it's been wonderfully done
ah, the entire movie in 5 minutes! great edit. BUT don't watch this if you don't want to be spoiled!
Beautiful edit, so much power and emotion in this

waiting for my Gabriel
I waited for the best line in the book... "when I look up there you be and when you look up there will I be" but it wasnt there...
in the 1967 version, Gabriel says the line
Beautiful video, I love it!! The music, the scenes.. everything!! Very well done!!
I kind of hated that she only turned to him when there was no one left. But good movie anyway. Dark but good.
I thought she doesn't deserve him .. she was foolish and married the soldier really quickly against her own principals. Even when she felt that there's something odd in her marriage she didn't act or do anything !!
And Gabriel, he was there for her all the way supporting and protecting her
I’m not crying you’re crying. 😭
I only got interested in the movie after reading the book, it was a really good read.
Definitely the best video of these two that I've seen!! Great Job!!
A wonderful film with a wonderful cast❤️❤️❤️
Such beautifully made video this is !! True artistic talent !
I love this story. I still need to read the books. I wonder what differences there will be between the book and this film adaptation. I love it anyway
I love his character.
