When I first heard “Criticize” back in the 1980’s, I played it over and over!! I still in the 2020’s play it over and over!! It’s just that type of song! Great song!!!

Love this tune. Alexander O'Neal had a tremendous voice but I think the backup vocalists make this song great! They sound like angels harmonizing! Lol
The woman who sings the background is Lisa Keith.
She also sang the lead vocals on Herb Alpert's "Making Love In The Rain".
She released a solo cd "Walking In The Sun" in 1993
And you're right, it does sound like angels harmonizing.
