So strange to be old enough to remember the PH mall being built and now its potential end. I shopped there with so many loved ones that are gone now. We were once carefree youngsters in the early 70’s riding our skateboards, meeting girls and buying cool clothes. RIP to all those that have gone ahead.
Its always sad to see a mall empty and close. I remember when going to the mall was such a great time as a kid and then as an adult its where you Christmas stopped. Its too bad. My first job as a teen was at the mall.
I used to work in that mall in the end of 2009 for the holidays and the beginning of 2013 at that time the mall had a lot of life left but also was the time the majority of stores were begging to shut down. I opened my first department store card at that Macy’s and sears card.the army recruiter center was a pizza place.i went back to that mall in 2021 and was really shocked how empty and deserted the mall looked and now hearing the news of the mall makes it even sadder
Yea, it was the place to be at as a kid. Wanted to get your skater clothes at anchor blue or miller’s outpost. Going with my mom to Robinson May or JCPenney. Brea Mall is currently in that transitional period as well.
If you drive through Orange County, you will just see thousands and thousands of apartments that line the streets now. Main place mall has apartments in the parking lot. Brea mall was building apartments on the parking lot and orange mall is building apartments in the parking lot. It’s changing…. I don’t believe for the good.
Heard a private investment company is pumping 150 milli into it. Wife, son and I actually go there every couple of weeks for the AMC, the folding theater chairs is why were there. Mall needs major work.
That's to everyone that buys from Amazon. Amazon has killed the retail business. I had a toy shop back in the day. Let's stop buying online and go outside to stores and small businesses and support those. Bring back that culture.
The nostalgia man! I spent there so many good times with my babies, their Santa pictures at jcpenney their playing time long time ago with the Koi fishes, the shopping for their clothes, the dinning times at the food court area 😭😭😭😭
Ah, yes, Twin-Pines Mall. No one should ever abandon Back To The Future Film locations' land mark in the first place. Only some kids growing up to own this mall to repopulate and never let it be demolished. I never visited there in my life.
@@AdventurezwithDavid I've haven't been to the Puente Hills Mall since I think mid 1999 or beginning of 2000 it's sad everything is no longer opened I remember they used to have a carousel
Thanks for this and it makes me sad. I heard it is because there are 2 other big malls close by and this mall is losing the competition. In our area in Northern California, we only have one big mall so it is still ok. They don’t have any major malls to compete with. Location is very important too because our mall has a Safeway right next door too. It also has a good food court, dining, entertainment and other things besides just shopping. Malls need to adapt to survive and not have big malls to compete with.
Do one of these about the Montebello mall or the Stonewood mall in Downey. They're not closing or anything, they're actually still thriving, but I just wanna see the local malls near my area on UA-cam.

Screeching tire sound!!! There was no such retailer Robinsons May in 1984/5! At the time, the retailer was J. W. Robinson’s. You are working with a skewed timeline! 0:59
@@AdventurezwithDavid thanks for being a good sport. God only knows how many goofs I have made in my life. But about the possible loss of the mall. My suspicion is there’s foreign investors involved. The internet killed these shoping centers nation wide. Will probobly be torn down and fancy condos built. Makes sense since only whats left is dining spots around the parking lot.
Puente Hills mall slowly died over the years, big business + mom + pop stores have always had a hard time surviving here. Whoever bought it shouldn’t try to bring it back, those days are gone and the demographics have changed quite a bit. Walmart + Costco + Home Depot are the big retailers in this area now. Extending public transportation + more housing development would be a good idea, but who knows what the answer is for the mall.

I always thought Frank and Son's moving nearby would've kept this place alive a little more.
Right?!
That place is haunted. But when you do go inside it feels like you time travel back in the 90s 80s 70s
Yes I feel as though they just kept the same cassette running through the speakers 🔊
I did have some stuff happen when I was walking around
It’s haunted?
@jragon9215 yes in front of the sears entrance I felt a lot of eerie stuff around their
Haunted? 😂
Thank you David for letting me know about the Newer McDonald's commercial filming building.
I appreciate that .
You’re welcome.
Where is it located?
If they build apartments the roads and freeway will be a parking lot. The existing roads can't currently handle the traffic.

I vaguely remember that. There’s so much history inside the mall
In the center floor there was a pond/streams with koi fish
That was the best time, liked to sit and watch the koi and gold fish play around. Awesome memories 😢.

man.. Thanks so much for making this.. I had no Ideah that " Back to the future " was filmed at Puente Hills Mall..! :)
It’s the most iconic part of Puente Hills. They will have a meet up October 25th
Inside feels eerie like out of a horror film
💯 👻

True like the Downtown Buena Park Mall
