It's a regular thing to do in the US when listening to their anthem, but it's not common in Germany. A bit odd doing it for another nation's anthem tho

It's great to see that they respect each other
If you look closely you can see a guy saluting near Reagan Soviet spy confirmed lol
1:50 The bad ending where the USA dissolved in 1991 instead of the Soviet Union…

The good ending*
@@Gutraidhdefinitely the bad ending
Japan's orchestra sounded the best, definitely the cleanest
Yea
That’s because Everything is done by the book over there and I mean everything it’s basically ingrained into there cultural
Plot twist a whole new band was mysteriously picked after each of these
I like how Reagan holds his hand on his heart when he listens to the German national anthem while the German chancellor at that time (Schmidt(?)) just stands there doing nothing
It's what you'd expect the actor Reagan to do but never the hanseat Schmidt.
It's a regular thing to do in the US when listening to their anthem, but it's not common in Germany. A bit odd doing it for another nation's anthem tho
It definitely doesn't mean Reagan was being more honest or more respectful than the German chancellor, but the hand over the heart is supposed to symbolize honesty. Funnily our custom here was quite similar to Germany before WW2, so in an alternate universe Reagan may have thrown one hand up 😬
No mistakes in the anthems but the tempo is a little fast compared with the instrumental version. The last USSR/Russian anthem was good. The cannon was a little distracting but still good.
The cannons are for ceremonial purposes
@@fortressandfortress974 Yes, I'm aware the cannons are for ceremonial purposes but I thought the timing of each cannon fire could have been better, more in sync with the anthem music.
I like how there's no British flag here because we were basically everyone's enemy at some point lol.
Good reminder why Reagan is such a legend.
The China Band Played Its Anthem The Last Second. 8:10
Imagine being in Japan, then you hear the anthem of the country that nuked you twice.
Umm, I think currently China and United States aren't exactly former enemies... they're definitely not in good terms nowadays.
They never meant to be true "friends" from the start, just only negotiations. And as it should be. Today "negotiations" became "conditions" as both of them exchange of pulling the lever to each other 😉.
What’s amazing about the US is that an ordinary person can any country’s anthem and not be arrested. Pretty sure most Americans wouldn’t know what was playing. They probably only recognize the US National Anthem.
But what’s really amazing is that most of these happened when tensions were high.

I love seeing Ronnie Reagan respecting the Commie’s anthem.
He was secretly commie by himself

Something deeply poetic about this all. We are all God(s) or the Cosmos's children sharing this one rock. I like zooming out and looking at us marching ants.
4:29 why that sounded like a fart??
4:47 Is that really the audio of USSR anthem being played by French brass band? It sounds like a recorded anthem.
Update: I found the similar audio here:

Yeah, I think it was recorded.
No I heated many French songs by their military bands and they are really good
I agree with you as I watched many clips. However, in this particular video, it is dubious to be actually played by a military band.
The fact that hirohito managed to apologize for ww2 and still have great relations with their former enemies shocks me
the USSR one gotta literally be before 1991 dude, so old, but so good
I think it was recorded in the 1980s because I see Regan in the film
The Japanese anthem playing by US band is quiet too fast
We need this in 2022
0:45 fun fact:usa flag doesnt swing like soviet VELIKAYA RUSSIYA
I actually think the USSR probably loved the French and American national anthems and was proud to play them. They are stories of revolutions. And whether your revolution was influenced by Marx or not, was purely a matter of when it occurred. If the French or American revolutions happened later, there would have been a Marxist element; and if the Russian revolution happened earlier, there wouldn't have been.
Disgusting thought.
