Will Birmingham bounce back? 🔵▫️ | Summer Deep-Dives | ft. Ryan Deeney & Blues Breakdown

- With a reported £20M budget that's almost alien to League One, and a squad already comprising of capable Championship players, Birmingham City will be heavy favourites for the title, let alone promotion.
And yet, the thought of cruising to top spot feels very unBlueslike: the most points the Second City club have ever won a league by in their 149-year history is four, the last time they were in the third tier in 1994-95 - and even that wasn't exactly straightforward, with promotion secured at Huddersfield on the final day!
So, do Birmingham have what it takes to meet expectation and bounce straight back?
Gab Sutton discusses it all in the latest #EFLDebate Summer Deep-Dive, with Ben Hawker from Blues Breakdown, and Ryan Deeney.
Really good listen this pod, even though I’m a bit late to the party but still
Top notch listen, sensible debate and you can’t beat that 👍
Got to get the right players in that want to battle in this league . Not going to be easy and if we’re in top6 just after xmas I be happy
Its not easy in league 1 as it took derby 2 years to get out
But Derby had financial issues! We Birmingham haven't 🤷 we have lots of money to spend...
Money doesn't play a part as man United spend heaps of money and they have been terrible
Another club thinking they are going to walk league 1, definitely in for a culture shock.
Tell us that next year when we are top of the league lol
I think you will find that was just paper talk to stir up an hornets nest that obviously worked

We are different though. Not because of something like club size, we're much more stable off the field, we went down due to tumultuous managers last season rather than squad quality which was more than good enough. Hold onto some players and add the kind of quality we've done so far, we'll be up there top 3 minimum you'd imagine
I doubt it, even I realise that you can't play football all the time and have to outbattle teams. If I know it I am pretty sure Davies knows as well.
