I'm going to be a first time adopter of a Vivo Foldable, the biggest thing for me is the largest possible outer and inner display, fast charging, and of course functionality with GSM carriers in the US. This seems to be the best foldable right now, as I've never used the S pen with my fold 4 and I use the camera zoom 5% of the time. I'm sure better foldable will come out in the summer and fall but then we'll be just a few months away from a Vivo X Fold 3! I think the Vivo X Fold 2 is a good jumping in point for me, can't wait to get it!
Finally a non music video review. All these comments are disappointing however I'm not a massive camera nerd so the periscope issue that everyone is moaning about isn't a huge selling point for me. I'm coming from a z fold 2 so this is gonna be a huge upgrade for me. The weight will be exactly what I'm holding now so I know no different except the phone will be several mm thinner and close completely flat. I'm also looking forward to 120w charging and close to a normal size front display. So many positives I'm sure out weigh the negatives. I need a new phone reasonably soon and think the Xiaomi might come too far down the line. Pixel fold likely won't be good enough first iteration and I think not tall enough either and z fold 5, well, we don't need to talk about that rubbish.
After seeing MateX3, its pity that Vivo dropped periscope. I mean it was OV018A and tiny but still could use that for excuse to being thicker, but seeing MateX3 is very good at digital zoom for a folable, I too am a bit disappointed. On the good end tho, original X fold is coming down on the price...
In my opinion, companies top flagship foldable should basically have the same specs and cameras as their flaship slab phone, but just in a foldable format. I mean I know this won't happen cos it appears they wanna keep the two markets separate, but I feel like many more people would consider a foldable if they know they're aren't making much sacrifice in the camera dept, if any. For the money these companies charge for the top line foldable I just feel it makes sense to do this!
It is impossible to put the same sensors as for example the vivo x90 pro plus or the Xiaomi 13 ultra because basically folding smartphones are only on avarege 6mm thick when open, you cannon use the full thickness of the phone when closed obviously. And the main sensor in this vivo is actually pretty good, especially with Zeiss lenses and coating and V2 chip, still no excuse for removing the periscope camera, the phone Beeing slimmer is not an excuse, since che Huawei mate X3 is even thinner and manages ro have a periscope camera. Probably is cost cutting but they could at least give the telephoto camera a 3x zoom...
@@riccardogalli8823 ye I get there are space restrictions of course, totally get that. But I'm pretty sure they can do it. I mean vivo already put a periscope in there on the very first vivo x fold. But ye 3x minimum would have been better at least.
Yeah, for Shure the couldn't put that Imx 1 inch sensor, but for the rest I totally agree with you, I think as a said before they did a bit of cost cutting, keeping in mind that this is on the cheaper side of foldable phone, even if the first x fold was the best foldable for me last year, another thing that they didn't improve with I was hoping for, is the vibration engine, still the tiny round z axis and not an x axis (like the taptic engine on iphone for those who doesn't understand the difference). I know most people doesn't care about this maybe but for me good haptics give a much more premium while using the phone, I don't think it would have cost them more then 5 dollars to put one in...

Thanks for the quick fresh review! I don't think we will get any perfect folding phone ever haha. The only downside i see for this vivo is the downgrade on the camera. Vivo X Fold 2 weights 279g vs. the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 at 262g. Xiaomi Fold 2 surprisingly takes pretty good photos and is so pleasant to handle because of its weight and thinness. For folding phones, hand-feel is so important. I'll wait till the next Xiaomi Fold comes out, hoping it'll be as good as the Huawei Mate X3 which I refuse to get because of having to sideload google.

Mine as well. I was stunned as it was legit the best feature of the vivo and why I was so excited with it. Hi Ben.Thank you for a such honest review.I am looking for a foldable phone for 1500 usd right now (fold version, not flip). Could you please give an advise on which would be the best choice.Thank u for replying 👍
I think you should go for xiaomi mix fold 2 or Galaxy z fold 4. The former has best hardware (excluding the mate x3) and latter has most polished software
Subjective, I think the Z Fold looks better, and I prefer the aspect ratio over a normal slab phone It makes the phone easier to hold and makes it feel compact, I do hope they make it slightly wider but still keep the stretched form factor tho.
Can I ask you a question? Is the Vivo X90 Pro Plus better for photos in very dark environments over the Oppo X6 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra and is the flash very bright?
@ben's gadget reviews hello sir,I watched your side by side comparison of the original vivo fold and Samsung and oppo foldable, does the new vivo fold support window mode for 3rd party apps now, honestly I'm leaning towards the vivo due to its faster charging of 120w but if it doesn't have that I'll rather buy a normal slab phone instead of spending 1500 bucks on a foldable that doesn't have any advantage over a normal phone, but I'd appreciate it if you have any recommendations about other Chinese foldable with fast charging (80w and up) and and support window mode or horizontal splitt screen which Samsung offers, unfortunately I'm not interested in Samsung due to its small battery and slow charging and candy bar design cause I have large hands, looking forward to hearing from you please, I dont want to spend a lot of money and end up regretting my purchase.
it's a shame that you still can't horizontally split UA-cam on it. however, I saw on weibo around a week ago in somebody's review that they did have two apps split horizontally so I'm wondering what's going on there? do you know if any apps split horizontally? I'm really curious.
Thank you very much Ben 🙏🏽 Like you, I am really disappointed with this Vivo Fold 2, a regression at the hardware level, and no improvement at the software level 🤦🏽♂️ After seeing the Huawei Mate X3, it is clear that it is indeed difficult especially for those who live in China and do not have the GMS problem , to accept foldable like this Vivo.
I had a question in your opinion would you recommend this phone or the pixel fold? I already preordered the pixel fold through Verizon, but I’m seeing this phone pretty cheap now with great specs.
I'm curious - does 50g more feel additionally heavy? I have never own a fold before, so I am unknown to the fatigue-ness(?) of using the phone for a period of time, keeping in your pocket etc. Also, the fact that the periscope lens is dropped from the previous generation, that's a boo. It's akin to OPPO Find X3/5 dropping the periscope lens from X2, and it's like a step-down in camera versatility.
Yes it matters. The Huawei mate x3 and Xiaomi mix fold 2 feel light enought that it feels like a normal phone. Vivo and Samsung fold 4 still feel clearly like a foldable
Ben, do you have any experience with the thicker foldables being more durable than the thinner foldables? I'm curious if the thickness helps or hurts durability.
I don't understand this on screen fingerprint thing, I use the fold 3 and the FP sensor on the side is simply the best, fast, reliable, less money to make, very convenient to reach it... My only gripe is the battery and the camera with this phone BTW.
@ben's gadget reviews Okay. What about the xiaomi 13 ultra or the oppo find 6x. If neither of those I might just op for the oneplus 11. Want to get rid of my z fold 4. Oh or maybe I'll wait on the sony xperia 1 v. I love how sony is going in its own lane as far as design and features

Hi,yeah I think it doesn't bring many upgrades over the first one! I think Xiaomi mix fold 2 is a better buy or wait for Xiaomi mix fold 3 or Samsung fold 5
I feel the same and feel they should have shed more weight since the original. It almost feels like they're making them but not really going all in since the 1st version.
Okay I have to agree at some points about the phone what at the same time I do not think the screen on Samsung is that bad. Plus plus when you are looking at the screen dead on you cannot see the crease on the phone either
thank you for this excellent review! I really really want another phone besides the Galaxy fold. Got to get that software up to par. I don't care how beautiful the build quality is. Without the software to go with it it's useless to me. I'm definitely rooting for this phone once the software is improved I'm definitely buying it.
Great preview . Hope to see the full review . I myself am not too concerned about the bulk of the phone , the hardware looks great and durilibalty is important . one main thing they need to focus on is software and function that is what is holding me back i want confidence on first party software and secondary app functions. That and price if i spend this king of mone on this it has to be at lease strong for 3 years not obsolete in a year .
so if there comes a + Version of this Phone what will be the Upgrade? The Vivo x Fold to the + Version had an faster Charging Upgrade bigger Battery Update and better Snapdragon Chip Upgrade my Question the Vivo x Fold 2 already has everything of it better is it even worth upgrading the same can they even Snapdragon upgrade again? same goes with Charging? as they did with the first Version but Battery i know they can but i hope they Focus on the Camera way more and Software even the Tecno Phantom v Fold has some better Stuff in it and 500$ Cheaper i was about to Buy the Vivo but after that downgrade i will wait and see wich Foldable i will get this Year Sadly i have to wait again Couple Month again
Vivo was the brand to beat when they launched the x70 Pro Plus. Now... Not so much. I have the x90 Pro Plus, that 1 inch sensor, I hate it, lol. I hope the x100 Pro Plus truly comes with variable aperture this time. Because, with that 1 inch sensor, If you want to take pictures from a foot away or closer, forget about it, the pictures are blurry. Taking pictures of food, for example, it's a nightmare!!!
Maybe just maybe there will be a Plus model coming later this year with a periscope zoom lens. Cos if not its is just a plain stupid decision to downgrade the camera system. What requires more effort from a manufacturer? Keeping a system from the previous generation that you were being praised for or removing it. I hope Vivo realizes they made a huge mistake. The upcoming Xaiomi mix fold 3 looks promising in the camera department, i just hope it will have a premium build like the vivo x folds
It doesn't have 5g module purely because of bullshit US gov politics, you really think Huawei couldn't have put a 5g chip in there? A chip wouldn't weigh more than 2gram. The mate x3 is 30g lighter
I don’t understand, the inability to use the display in horizontal split screen has been a complaint since the first vivo fold and they still haven’t updated the software?!!! Lazy developers or just not listening to their customer base.
Samsung is miles ahead in terms of software. That's what almost 5 generations give you, experience. If they stop being lazy with the hardware, then the game will be more over than it already is.

I've bought the Vivo X Fold 1, and I have a Samsung galaxy fold 3. I love the Vivo for the normal looking outside screen, camera is great, but my main big screen after a year of use has a huge amount of something that resembles to minuscule cracks all the way from the top to the bottom on the crease(almost like humidity looking although not the case). It doesn't affect anything but I'm sure the screen eventually will go off and not to mention that is way more distracting than a crease as you see it so much with white backgrounds... So overall durability for the inner screen doesn't seem to be there... I'm happy with a bit of a crease on my foldable if that means the screen will be flawless in terms of function. it's a shame that you still can't horizontally split UA-cam on it. however, I saw on weibo around a week ago in somebody's review that they did have two apps split horizontally so I'm wondering what's going on there? do you know if any apps split horizontally? I'm really curious.
U can do with China apps. Moat westene apps don't support
ah, thats a shame :(
Thank you very much Ben 🙏🏽
Like you, I am really disappointed with this Vivo Fold 2, a regression at the hardware level, and no improvement at the software level 🤦🏽♂️
After seeing the Huawei Mate X3, it is clear that it is indeed difficult especially for those who live in China and do not have the GMS problem , to accept foldable like this Vivo.
Wow looks amazing ❤❤❤ vivo fold 2
@@bensgadgetreviews ah oh okay. I do feel like getting one time to time, but the price. But, so far Phantom V Fold seems appealing!
Keep up the good work Ben, looking forward to the vivo x100 pro+ 👍
I only listen to you, Marques and Flossy Carter for phone reviews. That's it.
Thank you!
As I remember g board settings u can choose it inside settings ... I use Gboard as well and u can change into *one handed settings
The key to foldables is software, which is why Samsung remains supreme
not really, not when Huawei is still around.
Until The pixel comes around...
@@soheiladam7510 without Google services. lol
Too bad all of these tablet-style foldable phones have GARBAGE internal aspect ratios.
Galaxy Z Flex is what a foldable phone SHOULD BE.
@@RodolphosTechchannel . You mean like those buggy pixels the 6 was a hot mess an the 7 mot much better
All that weight and they removed the periscope zoom? meh, better luck with the next version Vivo.
Vivo is known for great camera . They bring the best camera to fold series despite the heft.
Fingerprint scanner in Power/Lock-Button is better than under display scanner imo.
Great viedeo!! Looking forward to the review!!
Still replacing my Z Fold 4 with this
Thanks for the Review Ben 👍💫💫💫
If anyone in Europe or US wants to know, it costs 1,470 € or 1560 $ at Trinity Electronics.
Hey Ben, can't wait for your Huawei p60 pro review!
Hello Ben, I want to replace my X90 Pro+ by foldable phone. Could you advise which one better to pick?
Oppo Find N2 or Vivo X fold2?
I think if you like vivos software go with x fold 2
How about in terms of camera and form factor?
Ben, do you have any experience with the thicker foldables being more durable than the thinner foldables? I'm curious if the thickness helps or hurts durability.
My Mix Fold 2 still peeforms fine. I doubt thinner foldables are more fragile
@@bensgadgetreviews thanks just curious. I've only heard about issues with the Fold 4.
I don't understand this on screen fingerprint thing, I use the fold 3 and the FP sensor on the side is simply the best, fast, reliable, less money to make, very convenient to reach it... My only gripe is the battery and the camera with this phone BTW.
How do people watch with a squarish screen. Wouldn’t they miss all the footage from the sides?
Do you know if this will work on att in the states? Looking forward to full review.
Don't think it works with at and t. I'm using tmobile
-Hey Ben, is this Trinity store reliable enough to ship a phone from HK to BR?
They have shipped to US and Thailand multiple times to other UA-camrs without issues. I am not sure about Br I’m sorry
Are it's both screens better than ones on X Fold+ (brightness, vibrance, flickering, etc)?
Hi. I'm watching your video from France....
I have à question for you 😅
Do you think this vivo x fold 2 doesn't worth to be bought ??
If i want you to be very honest, What would you answer ??
I'll wait for your answer....
Have a great Journey
Hi,yeah I think it doesn't bring many upgrades over the first one! I think Xiaomi mix fold 2 is a better buy or wait for Xiaomi mix fold 3 or Samsung fold 5
I feel the same and feel they should have shed more weight since the original. It almost feels like they're making them but not really going all in since the 1st version.
Gotta say, very lazy upgrade by Vivo. They must have something major planned for the Fold 3. Or X Fold 2 Plus
Don't hold your breath.
MAYBE in 2024.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M exactly 😂 BIG maybe
I just tried this phone in a Vivo store and it had split keyboard by default.
How about a comparison of their flip with the oppo one?
Looking forward to your hands on of the pixel fold
Unable to play at higher quality
Pls wait a few mins
Okay I have to agree at some points about the phone what at the same time I do not think the screen on Samsung is that bad. Plus plus when you are looking at the screen dead on you cannot see the crease on the phone either
The red is awesome !!!
thank you for this excellent review! I really really want another phone besides the Galaxy fold. Got to get that software up to par. I don't care how beautiful the build quality is. Without the software to go with it it's useless to me. I'm definitely rooting for this phone once the software is improved I'm definitely buying it.
hi ben and what about notifications its ok for europe use? thanks
For push notifications you have to lock the app in background and turn off battery optimization. It is annoying yes
Trying to find out if it has some sort of secure space or second space feature like Samsung or xiaomi
It does. OriginOS has a private space
Can you pass the link of the store you talk about it to buy phones
Facebook.com/trinityelectronic
@ben's gadget reviews
If you have the chance please review the Nubia Z50 Ultra. Thx
I like it how much and how is it easy to us on Att and putting apps on plus setting up.
So vivo x fold plus is the go to for niw
This or the vivo X Note?
Vivo was the brand to beat when they launched the x70 Pro Plus. Now... Not so much. I have the x90 Pro Plus, that 1 inch sensor, I hate it, lol. I hope the x100 Pro Plus truly comes with variable aperture this time. Because, with that 1 inch sensor, If you want to take pictures from a foot away or closer, forget about it, the pictures are blurry. Taking pictures of food, for example, it's a nightmare!!!
Does it come with play store out the box?
No but installing is easy
@@bensgadgetreviews does it have google services like does gmail and apps that work on Samsung phones work on it or will they have a global version
If America does not impose sanction on huawei, the X3 would have been the only true king of foldables.
Oh for sure
In other wordss, stick with the first gen, wait for the 3rd gen to see ir there is a real evolution and not a downgrade/involution in ALL aspect.
the frame should be the same red color, it will be awesome.
Huawei Mate X3 doesnt even have 5g module, it isnt fair to just compare the weight without comparing the hardware specs
It doesn't have 5g module purely because of bullshit US gov politics, you really think Huawei couldn't have put a 5g chip in there? A chip wouldn't weigh more than 2gram. The mate x3 is 30g lighter
The only way you could justify removing the telephoto lens/ Periscope would be a major drop in price
X fold or oppo n2
they fixed the split keyboard already but not on gboard
I don’t understand, the inability to use the display in horizontal split screen has been a complaint since the first vivo fold and they still haven’t updated the software?!!! Lazy developers or just not listening to their customer base.
Will stick to the king of camera phones from Vivo ,the amazing X90 Pro plus.
Mix fold2 is 262 grams and fold4 is 263 grams, which is 1 gram heavier than the mix fold2, and you are the vivo x fold2 feels the same as fold4??
I meant feel same as fold 4 in thickness. Also, as Mr Mobile also said, the Mix fold 2 feels lighter than Fold 4 due to weight being more distributed
thank you for your review 👍
This phone camera is very good amongst the best. The software is so so not easy to use.
Samsung is miles ahead in terms of software. That's what almost 5 generations give you, experience. If they stop being lazy with the hardware, then the game will be more over than it already is.
If Huawei wasn't banned here in the US. No one would buy Samsung Folds.
@@NVGEARhaha ok ???? There not banded anywhere else an there still not bought
@@NVGEAR Samsung will just innovate, if Huawei was around, they would continue to make Samsung innovate. Samsung stopped innovating after Huawei ban
@@phillippugh2161 they r basically crippled in Europe as well. Just look at China sales where no phone is banned, no one buys Samsung.
@@phillippugh2161 Samsung only have as much market globally now due to lack of competition from the Huawei ban. Huawei was on the way to the top when they stopped it. And now other Chinese brands are also hesitant to invest/enter the western market.
Hi Ben!
I just want to say that I enjoy watching your reviews. Your presentation of information is quite relaxed and detailed. It looks pretty cool and helpful to me. In fact, I thought your channel already had a million subscribers. Don't stop and keep going in the same direction. I'm sure a gold button will be on your shelf soon. Just wanted to express my respect!
Thank you so much
@@bensgadgetreviews hello sir,I watched your side by side comparison of the original vivo fold and Samsung and oppo foldable, does the new vivo fold support window mode for 3rd party apps now, honestly I'm leaning towards the vivo due to its faster charging of 120w but if it doesn't have that I'll rather buy a normal slab phone instead of spending 1500 bucks on a foldable that doesn't have any advantage over a normal phone, but I'd appreciate it if you have any recommendations about other Chinese foldable with fast charging (80w and up) and and support window mode or horizontal splitt screen which Samsung offers, unfortunately I'm not interested in Samsung due to its small battery and slow charging, looking forward to hearing from you please, I dont want to spend a lot of money and end up regretting my purchase.
It's interesting that Vivo aren't trying to compete with the likes of Xiaomi, Huawei etc. You would think that they would be more worried about the domestic competition than trying to compete with Samsung.
When Oppo Find N foldable gets Gen2 Snapdragon chip, may buy. Prefer the form factor but got rid of my last Snapdragon 888 on Z Flip as it runs hot, eats battery and IMHO is a bad chip. Peace
Just dint have ir blaster .. this disappointed...
Wait vivo x fold 2+ add back ir blaster
is that idol jennie?OMG! WHOZ THE OTHER IDOL SHE WAS SO PRETTY!
WHY THERE'S NO GLOBAL VERSION!!!!!!!!!
The crease on folding phone get worst over time the first they all barely have a crease .
Nice overview
Cool
Photos on Big screen looks better . Foldable should have best cameras.
So stupid, that they removed the periscope 5x optical zoom.
Interesting
Even my z fold 2 from Samsung is still absolutely fine and I bought it at launch
