Great tone! I've moved in a different direction with the strings on my Rickenbacker, which is GHS Boomers 50 36 26 18 15 11, which are rated as trebly. The tension as very similar to 42 32 24 16 11 09 on a 25-inch scale. If anyone wants to know the fret spacing on a Rickenbacker 325, just take a 25-inch scale guitar and capo on the third fret.
@@willm3027 A typical 2 string guitar, including the JL Rickenbacker, is tuned with 6 pairs of strings : two high E tuned in unison (same pitch), two B tuned in unison, then two of each of G, D, A, and low E but tuned in octaves. The extra G, D, A, and low E are an octave higher than the normal ones. Here’s where Rickenbacker differs from most others. Most 12 strings guitars have the “octave above” strings closer to the player’s face so that as you play a downward stroke you hear high E, normal E, high B, normal B, etc... Rickenback arranges them the opposite way: normal low E, octave E, normal B, octave B, etc. Thee effect is that a Ric has its characteristic jangle sound on the UPSTROKE instead of the downstroke as with most other 12 string guitars.
@@feudone thank you! I've been watching this video for the past 30 minutes trying to remember which song it is! The guitar is stunning by the way, hope I can get one some day in the near future!
Is really hard to find this kind of guitars…the rickenbacker i found in germany..the epiphone lennon edition in italy…for sure in reverb.com or eBay u have more possibility..but also more expensive….
@@feudone Yeah...that's the thing with this 325, the sound is snappy and distinct...rocky... I read that George Harrison who was with John when he bought it in a shop, and George said that John had said...Now I can reach things that I couldn't do before, so that was one reason he bought it, and also I think if you are supposed to do a lot of vocal, you do not want a heavy big guitar to carry, but if it had not sounded good John would not have bought it. George said John bought it on a pay off plan, but probably did not pay everything off, this was in Hamburg, and they ran back to Liverpool.
It has the John Lennon Beatles tone alright but does it do anything else ? The pickup selector was on the rear pickup the entire time so we don't know what the guitar overall sounds like. Are there usable tones in there or is it just a one trick Beatles rhythm sound.
@@feudone but you have the guitar sound down. Thats a lovely guitar. Is it weird playing It at all since its short scale? or do you not even notice that
@@kamilzabiegala1649 at first it is really strange to play it .. it is a short scale .. it is just a matter of habit .. of course if you have very large hands like me it does not help ... but the sound is unmistakable!
Even Paul could barely get it. LOL The Beatles always wrote in keys they had to strain to sing. I wondered why for a long time. I lowered the keys and noticed the tension and coolness of the songs were lost. Plus after the mix was done, they sped the playback up even faster. I also thought it was cool that the Beatles did not sing with vibrato. Almost no one did that or even does that to this day.
Good job guy , good job .
You love that rick sound!
Great playing, demo. I played this exact model in 90 at a music store and I wanted it so badly!
Wow ...great sounding guitar ...and you played them well ...
Super job

Nice! I have the 12-string version of the JL Limited.
What are the settings on your amp? The tone is spot on!
Bass 2, middle in the middle...treble almost at the max level..
Excellent guitar. You can tell it’s not some Chinese knock off! I’m saving my money to get one someday. ❤️🎸
Saw the ORIGINAL Lennon Rickenbacker at the RNR HOF in 2001.
I have the 12 string version of this guitar ! Love it !

How does a 12 string work? Are two strings count as one?

@@U2WB that makes sense! Thanks for the reply, I learned something.
You really should have had a go at "All my loving", the signature famous "Lennon rythm" for this guitar...
I have one cover on my video’s here in UA-cam…
That one was played on his Gibson J-160E though! :-)
@@Nerkin610no it wasn’t, that was played on his rickenbacker 325.
