So this song is pretty personal to us. In October 2019 we released a song called “Waiting”. It was about the uncertainty of not knowing where you stand in a relationship. It told one side of a two-sided story. Part one spoke about wearing your heart on your sleeve and waiting for an answer, and the pain you can go through during that period of not knowing. A year later, we started the 2nd half of the story, from the partner’s perspective. It speaks about being scared to commit, but also facing your feelings head on. I remember meeting my first love my freshman year of college. I had never felt a strong emotional connection with someone before until I met him. We had spent many late nights in the library studying, getting to know each other. We were so different but somehow our hearts connected, especially through music. He would walk me back to my dorm every night where we stood at the entrance talking for hours about our lives. Even in the winter cold, his presence brought me warmth. He had wanted a title with me but I was afraid to commit because I had never been in a relationship before. But I knew I wanted him so badly. I initially turned down his offer to date but then asked if I could change my answer the following day because I was afraid to lose him. So we dated. Flash forward to today, I finally graduated college. However he’s no longer beside me anymore.. unfortunately he took his life last August 2020 after his battle with depression and other struggles with his mental health. He taught me that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes and gave me a different perspective of life I had never seen. He always reassured me not to be afraid of the unknown, to live in the moment, and to believe in myself - something I struggled to do. I wish he himself believed in the encouraging words he always said to me.. Even when his eyes told me he was feeling down, he always smiled at me - a smile I’ll never forget. Through the ups and downs, I don’t regret giving us a chance. One of our favorite memories together was sitting on the stairs outside one of the college buildings overlooking the hill below us, quietly watching the stars above. Now whenever I see the stars in the night sky, I think of him - I know he’s somewhere out there watching down on me. As time goes on, I’ve come to accept memories may fade but I’ll never forget how he made me feel inside. And it’s listening to songs like this where I remember. 💜
