Thanks for watching, when I decided to go this set up 270 awnings were nearly unheard of. That’s why I went this option. I have never used a 270 set up but one concern would be all the weight on one side of the vehicle in particular when the awning is wet. One plus though of a 270 would be the ease of set up. Cheers
How about a look at, and discussion of, how you attached the awning to your rack? How has that worked? What would you do different, if anything? Thanks
That sounds like a good idea, I might look at that down the track. It’s a simple process but some might find it helpful. Hanks for the idea. Cheers Richard
Thanks for the review. I just put a 2500 on my Ford Excursion it is in the aluminum box. I am curious if I will be as fortunate as you and get 9 years out of mine. Time will tell, good luck with your new ARB. Thanks Again Pete
Thanks for watching Pete, I’m sure you’ll easily get 9 years of use. Having n awning stored inside a hard case should definitely look after it. Just remember to dry it out before storage. Cheers Richard
Thanks for the reply and the good advise. I keep it mounted all the time so I diffidently will open it up often to make sure it is dry. Thanks again Pete
@@OffroadTouringLife I was going to purchase an ARB Awning around the time I first viewed your video. I decided not to after realizing they had changed from a bag to a metal container. I’m currently looking at a Bat Wing type awning instead.
This awning is aroind 3 years old now, not as good.as my first one. The Velcro is poor quality and the material has shrunk. I'm disappointed. I have another video of my first awning.
@@OffroadTouringLifehow hard is it to replace the Velcro web straps that hold the awning when rolled up? Mines only 3 years old minimal use and it’s stretched and loosing it’s grip.
The quality of the newer model is not as good. The velcro is terrIble. I've replaced it once since 2017 and the cross poles have bent on mine several times. Mine also has a small tear in the nylon bead channel. The bead that holds it onto the aluminium extrusion is not long enough and the securing screw is screwed into nothing but the nylon which caused it to rip at some point. lastly, one of the vinyl corner reinforcement patches fills up like a water balloon when in rains. A friend of mine has an older model and like yours, it's rock solid.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on all the things you have mentioned. It's never good when you pay a premium and the quality isn't as it should/could be. Cheers Richard
Very useful to see real wear and tear after many years of use. Not pretty, but good to see that it still does the job. Cheers.
I was happy with it, the new one which is two year's old isnt as good in my opinion
Great review! Happy adventures!
Thanks Scott, the new awning would be around 13 months old now too. I can't fault that one either. Thanks for watching.
@@OffroadTouringLife they sound like the right choice. Thanks again. I'll check out some of your adventures too.
Never saw a two ARB awning set up
Thanks

Glad i stumbled across this video. Ive had mine for a couple years. Good to know itll last quite a bit longer. Thanks man!
Thanks David, it’s a good investment. There are cheaper ones on the market which I can’t comment on but I can’t complain about the ARB awning. Cheers

You can’t go wrong buying ARB equipment.
Several years later I'm not as happy with the 2nd one as the first one.

Is that a LED strip running along the internal awning bracket?
That’s right, it worked for several years, I had it just running off the Anderson plug on the back of the Patrol. Cheers
Did you get the new one? How is it? Still worth to buy?
