I'm glad that the skies realized that the gloominess wasn't going to stop your enthusiastic smile and gave you an awesome view from atop Springer. Best wishes, stay safe and keep steppin' northward!
I followed you last year, and throughout your hikes back in New Hampshire after you left the AT. Your positive energy makes your videos quite enjoyable to watch...and I'm sure that energy keeps you going through the tough times out there. Best of luck!!! Soooo looking forward to your journey to Maine!!!
I looove the way you filmed this! I like that it's longer than last year's video, and I really enjoyed how you filmed the "little things". It makes us feel like we're right there with you!
Great viewing of the approach trail. I’ve been to it and stayed at Amicalola Falls Lodge. While I’ve only done short to medium day hikes, now that I’m retired, I’m planning on doing much longer hikes. My 1st goal is to hike the trail in Georgia. While I don’t plan on through hiking the whole AT, I’m planning on doing a state at a time taking breaks in between. Next week I plan to go up and hike the approach trail, which led me to your video. Thanks for your awesome videos.
It's so awesome that you documented your whole trip! I did a similar thing with a backpacking trip that I just got back from, but I'm editing and uploading all of my videos after returning.
We’ve seen many thru hiking videos of Dixie, Darwin and other big names. Now you showing nitty-gritty details of the hike is really helpful. We will watch the whole trip in the next few months. Your sunshine smile is a nice plus too. Stay strong and safe.
Taylor after watching your preliminary videos, it is certainly great to see your adventure actually begin. My wife and I here in Nova Scotia wish you all the success and stay safe!
I am so happy to see you on trail ! Your details are wonderful. Best showing of the stairs and the top of Springer. Have fun and keep up the great work.
I was glad to hear you like the evergreen shrub vegetation so prominent in our Southern Appalachians. Each region has its beauty and glory. The rhododendron and mountain laurel have such presence and wait until they bloom. The scarf favors you!
I'm so happy the survivor buff is making the trip it really does deserve to see the top of Katahdin. And thanks for the great videos best of luck on the trail!
Go Nahamsha! Looks like a smooth first day on the approach trail, in spite of a little bit of rain and mud. You are on your way and in pretty good spirits, it seems. Thanks for taking us along on this adventure!
Thanks for sharing Taylor. Most people start at the trail beginning to video. I have done the stairs a few times, it always amazes me how many people have their butts handed to them on the stairs.
Great video -- looking forward to the series. Like you, I also like the "green tunnel" too. Those who use it as a term of disparagement meant to suggest that it's boring to be in the woods -- I don't agree! I've found written examples that long ago, the term "green tunnel" was used favorably as a way to suggest that the AT was a beautiful trail. I don't know when the meaning got turned around to its opposite, as a way to complain about a lack of open views and vistas. But it did.
Congratulations Taylor On your attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail North bound in 2021. If you are #203 it seems that you are ahead of the bubble. Good luck to you Taylor. I feel confident that you can do this. Have fun, enjoy the views, and thanks for the videos. We will be following along with your progress. Todd and Lisa
I thru hiked the AT the fisrt time in 1983 right outta high school--- u have NO idea how different the AT was then!!!...then thru hiked it again in '92...and have had varying hikes every year averaging 500-600 miles on the AT...But one thing i have never done and refuse to do is to start out in the rain so kudos to you!!! Im thruhiking again in this coming year starting March 27th unless its raining, lol, which will then be whenever it stops raining, and im like a kid waiting for Christmas. Ive seen SO many hikers end their hike because they started too early. So many folks think that since its the South it will be warm and then wind up leaving at Neels Gap because they didnt understand southern mountain weather. So, again, kudos to you kiddo...as they say down south..." You done did good!"....
It's the first time i watch a video about the approach trail and the beginning of the AT. I am used to hiking in NH (NH48) and it seems like a very nice trail, best of luck for your thru-hike. Many thanks from Quebec,
Two green bushes right outside my front door at the bottom of the steps. Holly bushes. Only thing green (other than pine trees) for miles around in NH right now. They were really pretty with the ice on them a couple of weeks ago when we had the ice storm. I can understand liking the green tunnel though. It's all bare sticks mostly here. Probably only 6 weeks before you start seeing the green leaves down there. Happy hiking.
Good luck with your hike! Looking forward to watching your adventure ! Thanks for sharing the visitors center and approach trail, now I now what to expect next year when I begin my hike!
YAY!!! The day has finally come, again. Your confidence on screen, videos and narration has improved exponentially since last years start. Best of luck this year!!!
Good start. No company, but that allows you to gather up your thoughts of the day behind and plan out the day ahead. Looking forward to your journey (again). You were totally killing it last year before COVID. 👍
We just opened Base Camp at Amicalola - I think you missed us by 2 days. We are setting up in the picnic shelter next to the visitor's center rather than inside due to Covid. Obviously, we won't have the draw of ATC hang tags this year, but I hope some hikers will stop by and see us.
Look forward to doing this in April. I will be just doing a section hike. I've been walking to build up my stamina and working on keeping the pack weight down. Thanks for the video.
Good luck! I have enjoyed your videos in NH and also your appearance on television the other day. I will be there in about 45 days to help my brother hike the Southern AT. I will be following him with my car for a few weeks to assist him. Looking forward to seeing this area for the first time.
I'm so happy for you!!! Happy fou but excited too watching you! Stover Creek is the first shelter I ever saw face to face. I was such a geek all excited. LOL!!! Congratulations!!!!!
I liked that your throughly explained the approach trail & lounge/visitors center for the newbies/non hikers.
Thanks! I figured not everyone knew how it worked
@@TaylortheNahamshaHiker good luck .. hope all goes well
Woke up and saw this..it's like Christmas morning!! Happy Trails. Enjoy every step!
Nice! Thank you 😊
I've been watching a lot of A.T. hiking videos. This is the first one that showed so much of the approach trail. Thank you!!!!
I'm glad that the skies realized that the gloominess wasn't going to stop your enthusiastic smile and gave you an awesome view from atop Springer. Best wishes, stay safe and keep steppin' northward!
Wishing you a safe and great hike! Thank you for letting us "hike" with you!

So glad you are on your way. You do a great job blogging..easy to watch. Thanks for taking us along!!
Thank you for showing the approach trail! Most youtubers don't and I'm starting next year in February, so it's nice to know what to expect!
I love how you showed us around--felt like being there (without all the work LOL) You're a lot of fun to watch.
Best of luck, Taylor !! Incredible journey you are on !!!
So happy for you! And happy for us that you’re taking us along with you. I always love your videos. 🙂💕
Kudos for taking off in the rain - and it turned into a beautiful day!

We’ve seen many thru hiking videos of Dixie, Darwin and other big names. Now you showing nitty-gritty details of the hike is really helpful. We will watch the whole trip in the next few months. Your sunshine smile is a nice plus too. Stay strong and safe.
I really like your including the names of the places and details. I think it adds a lot to your videos that others leave out. Take care and good luck!
Taylor after watching your preliminary videos, it is certainly great to see your adventure actually begin. My wife and I here in Nova Scotia wish you all the success and stay safe!
I am so happy to see you on trail !

Good start ... you seem very happy and ready to go!!! 👍👍
Hiker 203 good job. Over 10 miles your first day and you didn't even break a sweat. You said you listen to your body which is very important.
Another great video. Looking forward to following you on your adventure.
I enjoy seeing all the mundane camp stuff that has to happen. Good luck on your hike.
Crossed the AT twice yesterday, once in Wallingford VT and also Killington and thought of you, you got this Taylor! Look forward to every video.
Happy trails!! And good luck!! Just starting to follow your journey!
I was glad to hear you like the evergreen shrub vegetation so prominent in our Southern Appalachians. Each region has its beauty and glory. The rhododendron and mountain laurel have such presence and wait until they bloom.
The scarf favors you!
Good luck!!! Have a great hike and hope to see you on trail!
Thank you! See you out there!
Enjoy your hike and adventures. Been following since last year's hike. Love your adventurous spirit and self-confidence. You got this!

Evan, the trail is calling you! Evan come, Evan come!.......
i didnt know it was negative! to me it has a kind of romantic and playful feel. like a maze in a secret garden.
Agreed! I find myself enjoying the low land green tunnels as much as the high land open trails.
Yay you are in trail. Ended up being a beautiful day. Cheers to your journey. Keep trekking.
Good luck Nahamsha! I can’t wait to follow your adventure as you put out the videos. Thank you!
Taylor great to see you back you can do this.
Looking forward to watching you all the way to Maine
