  • Nature is a tool we can use to fix our broken climate, but we are ignoring it.
The risk of climate breakdown is real, but it can be reduced if we protect, restore and fund natural climate solutions.

Planted 425 trees on an acre of our land and turning the rest to meadow. It's a start, though I won't see them mature, I hope and expect others will. Good work both.

Dear Greta, I totally agree with you on many things. The whole ecosystem is collapsing and all the government cares about is money and success. I am full-heartedly supporting you and you are a role-model, an inspiration to me. I respect you and I shall certainly be following your footsteps to make the world a better place, and I believe that even a small voice can make a difference. Thank you for giving me an inspiration to me and other people in this universe.

Join the IWW, we will Bring the economy to a halt and demand radical change NOW. But we need to organize for what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one. The union makes us strong. We built the cities where they trade and produced everything in the world to see it taken by people who dont even work to get as rich as they are. These people are getting more powerful than governments and use their wealth to bribe the state, but renember all that money comes from the working class. We can decide to refuse to Play their game and Take things into our own hands, govern ourselves, own the fruits of our labor.

I largely agree with you on the tree. The other thing, however, is getting rid of cars because they are both environmentally destructive, and just genuinely impractical. If we get rid of commercial, aviation and most aviation The climate would be in a better situation. Ban many other environmentally destructive practices and enforce heavy fines, and even compensations of entire corporate assets, if companies violated it. We must also get rid of capitalism in order to survive.

The fastest way to fix the problem is to simply STOP using energy.
We don't need any of it other than trees that grow in our area - you just plant more.
But I wouldn't even need to burn much of that.
We need to think small - nobody is talking about that.
Everyone only speaks to better energy.
How about speaking to needing less in our society including so much running around.
Needing a doctor that's all the way on the other side of the county because they're your favorite.
If we switched to socialism and had everyone grow their own food at home, take down the fences - replacing with bamboo, getting rid of the lawns - let the trees grow in. Let all children homeschool, or school within walking distance. Groceries within walking distance. Using natural medicines at home (tell us the good ones...)
How about walking more. I can go anywhere in 3 miles by foot easy - as long as I don't have to carry a lot.
Then there's bicycles, and how far they can get you.
How about Teepees instead of homes? These kind of questions are the ones we need to be asking.
Using an aerogel insulated protective wear, I could sleep anywhere in any weather.
Point is, reshaping our society would cut petro usage by 80% or more.

The atmosphere is made up of the following:
    78% nitrogen
    24% oxygen
    0.9% argon
    0.03% to 0.04% carbon dioxide
ALL plants breath CO2. At 400ppm plants are close to starvation. Plants grow much healthier at 1000ppm to 1500ppm. Without plants no living thing can survive.
The earth's atmosphere currently has a level of only 400ppm of CO2 at sea level.
Denver, Colorado is 5400 feet above sea level and CO2 at 332ppm. Many plants starve, therefore green houses must use CO2 generators.
Mt Mitchell in North Carolina is 6684 feet above sea level. The CO2 level is approximately 322ppm. Very few plants can exist other than some grass and stubby trees. The air is clear, smells pristine, the sky is deep blue. There is a sign at the top of the mountain that explains the trees are dying because of acid rain and other pollutants. Odd because all the trees are doing just fine in the same area at lower elevations.
We are told we need to spend trillions of dollars to lower the CO2 level which is already too low.
Do not be concerned of HIGH levels of CO2, be concerned of LOW levels CO2.
CO2 does not warm the earth. Just like steam does not make the pot boil.

Natural solutions: We must deploy them now before we reach tipping points that disable the natural resilience, which we have been abusing. Nurture trees and other sequestering systems; tax carbon now, rebate the proceeds to households to help them absorb the cost ripple. The Carbon will stay in the ground, and the climate will have the possibility of stabilizing. CitizensClimateLobby.org

Well done Greta!! You are very brave taking on the world over a relevant and sadly neglected issue...You can inform people about what they probably mostly know already but if they don't see it as a priority - which everyone should of course - then it is an ongoing challenge of short-term gain or instant convenience and hoping for the best. Only when pressure is felt will it properly be considered. Unfortunately these days it looks like a global pollution problem that is out of control. I admire your courage and charisma. At some point though it may be a case of "letting go and letting God". Remember not to carry this burden too much on your own. Take time out if need be. Others should also think and will a remedy for the earth. Look after yourself, stay strong, be composed. Your message has been heard. With love

We have an enemy in this matter - the global lobbies supporting the use of fossil resources, plastics ect.
We have to get rid of them, otherwise the corruption in our governments will be a great weapon to use against people who fight for our planet (take for example the oppression of hydrogen technology for vehicles). The governments MAKE WAY for these lobbies.
A tricky, awful situation... Maybe we require a forceful revolution, if there's no other way left.
PS: Ignore the haters, maybe they're also from the lobbies ^^

We’re not haters, we just don’t like being told what to do by someone who knows absolutely nothing about climate science or how life really works in general. I say there’s nothing wrong with planting trees, having better habits with how we get our energy etc.
But, to sit here and listen to Greta spew out crap like “WERE ALL GONNA DIE IN 10 YEARS” or “THE WORLD WILL END” is nothing but emotion driven hysteria designed to scare the meek and weak.
Life doesn’t run on emotions, it runs on science and facts. And the facts are is earth has cycled through several stages of hot to cold, cold to hot for millions of years.
      Yet, here we are. 🤷‍♂️
Her hysterical emotions are truly getting out of hand, and her abusive parents aren’t helping the matter one bit either. They are literally profiting off of her, you think they travel around the world for free or the kindness of their hearts? No way in hell! Not to mention the many books they’ve put out, what are books made of? How do those books get printed and published? Fossil fuels and trees that’s how.
And the only message I hear is, rules for thee, but not for me.
Greta, stay home and be a kid. Or else, 30 years from now you’re going to wonder what happened to your childhood and how it went by so fast.
Go play, go hang with friends, go to the park. Life is too short for you to be worried about something that might or might not happen.

I found out about Greta and I was so inspired to make my own group here in Nigeria, Africa. I had a solid start with some of my friends but it started to crumble when my friends told me that they do not want to be in the group anymore. the name of the group is PH [planet helpers]. Can you help me?

One crisp winter morning in Sweden, a cute little girl named The Angry Beaver woke up to a perfect world, one where there were no petroleum products ruining the earth. She tossed aside her cotton sheet and wool blanket and stepped out onto a dirt floor covered with willow bark that had been pulverized with rocks. “What’s this?” she asked.
“Pulverized willow bark,” replied her fairy godmother.
“What happened to the carpet?” she asked.
“The carpet was nylon, which is made from butadiene and hydrogen cyanide, both made from petroleum,” came the response.
The Angry Beaver smiled, acknowledging that adjustments are necessary to save the planet, and moved to the sink to brush her teeth where instead of a toothbrush, she found a willow, mangled on one end to expose wood fibre bristles.
“Your old toothbrush?” noted her godmother, “Also nylon.”
“Where’s the water?” asked The Angry Beaver
“Down the road in the canal,” replied her godmother, ‘Just make sure you avoid water with cholera in it”
“Why’s there no running water?” The Angry Beaver asked, becoming a little peevish.
“Well,” said her godmother, who happened to teach engineering at MIT, “Where do we begin?” There followed a long monologue about how sink valves need elastomer seats and how copper pipes contain copper, which has to be mined and how it’s impossible to make all-electric earth-moving equipment with no gear lubrication or tires and how ore has to be smelted to a make metal, and that’s tough to do with only electricity as a source of heat, and even if you use only electricity, the wires need insulation, which is petroleum-based, and though most of Sweden’s energy is produced in an environmentally friendly way because of hydro and nuclear, if you do a mass and energy balance around the whole system, you still need lots of petroleum products like lubricants and nylon and rubber for tires and asphalt for filling potholes and wax and iPhone plastic and elastic to hold your underwear up while operating a copper smelting furnace and . . .
“What’s for breakfast?” interjected The Angry Beaver whose head was hurting.
"Fresh, range-fed chicken eggs,” replied her godmother. “Raw.”
“How so, raw?” inquired The Angry Beaver.
“Well, . . .” And once again, Greta was told about the need for petroleum products like transformer oil and scores of petroleum products essential for producing metals for frying pans and in the end was educated about how you can’t have a petroleum-free world and then cook eggs. Unless you rip your front fence up and start a fire and carefully cook your egg in an orange peel like you do in Boy Scouts. Not that you can find oranges in Sweden anymore.
“But I want poached eggs like my Aunt Tilda makes,” lamented The Angry Beaver.
“Tilda died this morning,” the godmother explained. “Bacterial pneumonia.”
“What?!” interjected The Angry Beaver.. “No one dies of bacterial pneumonia! We have penicillin.”
“Not anymore,” explained godmother “The production of penicillin requires chemical extraction using isobutyl acetate, which, if you know your organic chemistry, is petroleum-based. Lots of people are dying, which is problematic because there’s not any easy way of disposing of the bodies since backhoes need hydraulic oil and crematoriums can’t really burn many bodies using as fuel Swedish fences and furniture, which are rapidly disappearing - being used on the black market for roasting eggs and staying warm.”
This represents only a fraction of The Angry Beavers’s day, a day without microphones to exclaim into and a day without much food, and a day without carbon-fibre boats to sail in, but a day that will save the planet.
Tune in tomorrow when The Angry Beaver needs a root canal and learns how Novocain is synthesized.

The safest solution is simply to stop fossil fuels and replace deforested areas, not plant significantly more trees than we used to have.
The effects of planting more trees than before are unpredictable and may yield harmful reactions according to predictions from respected climate scientists that I think you can read more from.

We can grow as many trees as possible on what land is left and we still wont have covered tge planet with what was here just 20000 years ago. The scientists say that we can't plant a trillion trees because then there wouldn't be enough land left for agriculture. The scientists seem to have completely missed that trees can feed people too! Our best bet for ensuring food security in temperate climates are Sweet Chestnut trees. A single 10 year old chestnut tree can produce up to 50kg per year of chestnuts which have a composition almost identical to rice and wheat. The scientists seem to be too busy trying to maintain the status quo to realise that food forests are our best hope of surviving the climate crisis, not solar panels!

    • @sujammaz
      @sujammaz 5 років тому +1

there is no ONE solution (no ONE right way to live either btw), but you are right: tech/energy/industry solutions are getting way too much (media) attention compared to food forests (or permaculture in general. chestnut plantations won't do it. there are many more edible plants and the main focus must be on the FOREST part, meaning a place that serves BIODIVERSITY first and human needs secondly). AND most importantly: social justice gets the least attention, but is the very best "tool" of them all: indigenous and local people KNOW how to live off the land without destroying it. if they didn't, they would not exist. what we need to do is get off our high academic horses and let them lead us. white people and descendants of colonialists are like jon snow: we know NOTHING. (okay so we have a bit of tech that MIGHT be useful, for the transition part at least. but we must NOT be the ones who get to decide what is useful and what isn't anymore. period.)

    • @liam314
      @liam314 5 років тому +1

@@sujammaz You don't have to keep shouting. Of course I don't mean replacing giant monocultures of wheat, rice and corn with monocultures of chestnut trees. My point is that chestnut trees are our best bet as a staple source of calories as the climate catastrophe unfolds. Any sane society would be converting their arable land to food forests and leaving the rest to re-wild, and also decommission all nuclear weapons. I find it puzzling that the climate activist community are completely ignoring the existential threat of nuclear war. I guess they're hoping that threat will wait around until its convenient for us to deal with
