I got a 18" (I think) byzance extra dry crash and imo it's unusabale on a metal production. It has no presence in the mix whatsoever, I've recorded my band's EP with it (using 4 KM184). It also got an entirely different sound than the cymbal in the video
peniku8 To my knowledge, all of them sound different due to the fact that they’re hand-hammered. But thanks a lot for the info man, I tend to like the more “musical” jazz cymbals of the byzance line and I’ve not seen many death metal drummers use those so I’ve always been wondering if they’re good for extreme metal. I guess now I know then. I already have a dark china. I’m considering a Sand ride next. I was really surprised when I tried it. It was the most cutting ride I ever played, and not too dry as other jazz cymbals. Crashes the best by far too!
