San Jose, CA. We have mandatory recycling. Everyone has a garbage can on wheels and is small, med or large. And we have a large one for lawn and trimming, and you stack 5 x 5 ft pile of cut wood on street. The recycle bin comes on wheels two and is used for all glass, metal, paper and plastic and textiles. We used to have to rinse any food item, but no longer. We do so as not to attract ants and other insects. Cash return is on your own or place in recycle. There is a center which employs sorters and it is processed on conveyer belts. Alot of people here compost all organic material on their own. Coffee grounds, rinds, peelings, egg shells husks. Our waste collector also composts and sells bags of compost. It is just smart. Very little garbage is left.
They just started recycling in my town. But still no pick up. I’m just happy they have a recycling drop off
