Indeed! But nothing is beating Kennys Signature Models for me! Those just scream Type O Negative which is obvious of course haha seeing how he's the guitarist.
@@Proganaut1989 Indeed friend, Peter in todays world would be a sight to behold! Especially him on the internet haha! I was young when he passed away, but even then, it still hurt as I had been a fan for some time despite being born in 2001. I can only imagine how much it must-have sucked for the fans that had been there long before I was even born.
The green is an homage to his custom Washburn, which is really synonymous with Michael himself. Michael mentioned on his instagram promo post that the custom shop USA models are launching at some point, and you will have different color choices.
I grew up playing a Japanese made, Matsumoku made 1986 5:14 Westone Spectrum LX (198MBK) All black westie. It resonated so good that it tickled my throat & made me cough everytime I played it. My father purchased it for me in 1991 at Gerreros Music when they were in the Ohio Valley Mall, I would always escape to the music store & find the coolest looking guitar so, I played that same guitar every time & one day my father surprised me & purchased the Westie for me with its original case all brand new.
Hey, boss! Another great video! I'll tell you what. The guitar may be outside my current budget, but it's not the "guitars for me" show. That guitar definitively belongs in a show called "Guitar MAX". BTW, I don't usually like blacklight colors, but I like that. And $1.7k seems like a great price for that kind of attention to detail. That Vola outclassed more frontline brands. Thanks!
the price you pay is for Japanese quality, I have a few early 1990s Jacksons made at the no longer existing Chusin Gakki plant, considering the new Fujigen Jacksons are at around $2500 now these Vola's are priced well and made at Dyna Gakki which has been used previously by Fender and arguably as good or better quality than anything else made.
Controversial figure. He hasn't released an album since 2017 and his singing is very polarising. The band has had 18 member changes I believe, with every member citing him as the issue. He's a heroin addict who has cancelled many shows last minute, missed flights and allegedly misappropriated band funds for drugs. It's not even right to say that the Faceless is a "band" anymore. I believe Keene is currently the only member. From a business perspective, he's a bad investment. At least Vola make good guitars :)
I am a proud owner of one. Hands down best guitar I’ve owned/played. My only complaint was the pickups, but your explanation of what they are meant to sound and play like sold me.
I bought this guitar just last week and it is phenomenal! Max is right, it is so easy to play that it makes you sound better than you are! I don't think Max mentioned that not only does it have Luminlay side dots but the fret markers on the front of the neck are also luminlay! It's worth every bit of the price!!!! I can't put it down!!
I love these guitar infomercials. The color is one of my favorites, as long as it's gloss and not matte. For the hardware and electronics, the price is exceptional.
If I’m not mistaken, given Fishman added that 3rd voicing fairly recently, the push/pull will do nothing in the 2nd and 4th switch positions. Still an enormous range of tones. Very tempted to check this out. Also, is it me or does this specific guitar look like the high E string is precariously close to the fret end of the board? Looks like lots of potential for slippage. May not be the case with all builds of this model, of course. Springs also look noiseless (coating). Nice standard feature.
I put heatshrink on my springs. Just find the right size, cut an inch long piece and put on the spring. Problem fixed. But I do like how they have those screws on the Gotoh.
Heck, Max, that guitar should be easy to shred, it's got a 'compass' right there at the 12th fret to tell ya which way to go! 😄 Love the color, BTW. Also a big fan of neon yellow, neon orange, etc. "Loud 'n' proud", baby!
Ever since Vola dropped their prices a lot of guitar companies have had to take notice, and abruptly. I would like to see a comparison of how much and where it was taking market share from before and after they did the price adjustment; I bet they are just CRUSHING 2024 on all fronts.
Got an old Samick HSH Superstrat with Floyd that is the exact same colour! 😀 Would have been nice to have stainless steel frets, but nickel silver could be an artist preference. Bound fingerboard would be nice too.
Love your reviews, but would really like it more in depth with string height at the last or 12th fret, and neck relief and what fret the neck relief was taken from, and what the nut height is also. would be a great help with making adjustments ,and those that like that help with setup and maintenance. thanks
It's been my contention since my first Gotoh GE1996T that it's as good as if not better than an OFR, and cheaper too! Only caveat is the bridge stud posts are 11mm as opposed to OFR and most licensed Floyd bridges 10mm, meaning if you are replacing a bridge, you need to make sure there's enough "meat" in the wood of the bridge area to accommodate this, or use the old posts. If you're doing a DIY build then it shouldn't be a problem.
I never heard of these guitars they look and sound incredible. However, I'm very familiar with Michael Keene and The Faceless. The album Autotheism is genius. Check it out if you get a chance. Seriously, it's a pure work of art.
I love super strats but holy cow, that is one green guitar...Not a big fan of the 12th fret inlay, though I like the Nightswan'ish staggered dot inlays.
Green yes but not as green as my Schecter Kenny Hickey signature C-1! Honestly, that guitar for 1099 bucks is a great value, and even better so since I got mine used for 750 bucks! 26.5 inch baritone scale, sustaniac pickup in the neck (without a darn floyd), Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, locking tuners, and of course, its Greener than Green! This guitar here does still look dope though. Just not liking the price a whole lot in comparison to some other competition.
I know this is a dumb question, as I have been playing guitar since 1985 so I should know better, but I don't know much about the design of death metal guitars. So here it goes... Are the strings supposed to be that far justified to the right for heavy chugging? Because the angles I can see there's a ton of space above the low E and almost no space under the high E. On a normal guitar I steer clear of buying anything where the strings are not perfectly centered on the fretboard. It just looks like the high E could slip right off and it doesn't give you much purchase to get your finger below it for bending.
Vola has drastically reduced their pricing however there are better options with more festures and cost rhe same or less than this guitar, such as Kiesel, Schecter, Jackson and Ibanez just to name a few. Still its a nice guitar!
Definitely don't looks like Medium jumbo frets ... they looks like X jumbo that ESP guitars have . What is boring today is nearly every signature 'metal' guitar has fishman pickups ... like if they were the only brand to make great pickups ...
Fret dots' design seems awkward. The purpose of fret dots is to be able to see them while playing, not artwork, not offset all around the neck face. If he wanted a distinctive and superior guitar design he should have made it Headless.
