Chester was such a beast. I miss him dearly. If you close your eyes you almost can’t tell it’s not Adele. That says a lot. Love you Chester!

The secret at the beginning was Chester started singing too high, Mike told him to drop it down an octave or key.

Yup. Way too high. Two real musicians working together.
Yup. Mike knows Chester's range and knew if he started in that key, he'd struggle with the higher notes later on.
That’s exactly what I was going to say, sign of true professional musicians. Chester started to high, Mike told him to drop it a couple of octaves and they perform a beautiful rendition!
You can see how Chester started to high, his second attempt flowed so much better
Also, just to add to how professional they are, notice Chester pulls away from the microphone when he sings the really loud notes. That’s on purpose, so his vocals don’t overpower the song. You notice a lot of true, professional singers use this technique.
The secret was that Chester started singing in the wrong key. He was one octave high. Mike called him back to correct him and ask him to start over.
Pretty sure Mike told Chester he was in the wrong key when they stopped in the beginning. Good teammate.
This was my first time hearing chester singing something outside of rock and this was a beautifully did cover of rolling in the deep. R.I.P Chester🙏
The “secret” you saw at the beginning , Asia, was that Chester started singing too high for what they had arranged. And somebody had to let him know. Love the channel y’all

Just in case anyone ever assumed he was just a hard core rock singer, he was also an amazing singer. So passionate and such an amazing voice.

Chester is a great loss, so missed. Everything he sings he does it with so much passion. Adele's breakout album was Adele, 19 in 2008, my favorite Adele album.
If anyone can sell this track, it was Chester. Rest in Power, brother.

So, this just hit me. If you think about it, Chester was not just a rock and roll singer. He was a soul singer with a heavy metal edge. He put a ridiculous amount of emotion into everything he sang.

Of course, haters are going to compare his lack of “range” to disparage his performance…..I think it was brave, and I really believe Chester was respectful to Adele’s composition. 2 great artists, and 1 great song. Chester's range is actually wider than Adele's. His is 3 octaves, and Adele's is just shy of 3.

Chester was such an incredibly versatile vocalist. This wasn't just a pop ballad but an Adele song. One of the most difficult songs to pull off ever. So beautiful I got feels. Please check out Qwerty summer sonic Tokyo. You won't believe your ears.

Chester started the song in too high a key for his range, so Mike stopped him and got him on the right key, like a true bro. I do think Chester could pull off the original key, though. Boy had range. Also, fun tidbit, they learned this like that day or the day before.
@whatiwasgoingtosay they did this song for the first time 2 weeks earlier at a fan club Summit with just 2 guitars. They were asked to perform this song because of that performance that at the fan club Summit. A fan recorded him singing this song and the organisers of the festival saw it and asked Chester to perform this song.

I'm a huge Adele fan and love almost all of her music and she is arguably one of the best singers of the last 20 years.
However, and I mean this 110%, everytime I here Adele's version on the radio, I wish I was hearing this version!!!
No BS, nothing to do with Chester's death or anything like that. The truth is, some songs were meant for specific people to sing. Like Prince writing "Nothing Compares to You", would have not been the same if Sinead didn't sing it! Like Whitney singing "I Will Always Love You" (Dolly's song)! Of course this song was never released by Bennington and Linkiln Park, but this version gives me serious goose bumps and shows just how great of a singer, artist, and professional Chester was!
P.S. I really don't think people understand just how hard it is too sing a super popular song live, by a super popular singer! I honestly have only heard a handful of live singing performances that are on this level! Of course Whitney was one of them. Another is Freddie Mercury! Some people may think differently, but I honestly put this performance up there with some of the greatest live singing performances I've heard in my 50+ years on earth. Again, and I can't stress this enough, Adele's version of this song is great. However, a disappointment compared to this version!!!
I don't know if you see updated comments on older videos, but I would suggst if you liked this, you should look at th live version of " I will always love you" by Chris Cornell. He was actually Chester's best friend in real life, and taught him how to bring his raw talents to reality. Please do that video, for all of both of their fans. Thank you for your time and consideration.

at the begining of the video mike shinoda called chester over to suggest doing the song in a different key because of the song becoming higher pitched later and it may not have been possible for a male artist to perform and so when they resume to note of the song is lower pitched
Love the hair Asia!! Wow! And I hated Linkin Park, need to rethink that notion now. Rollin' in the deep goes back to '99, I remember knowing it word for word when Adele released in 2011. Again, may have to revisit Linkin Park.
Linkin Park has some very powerful lyrical masterpieces. Please give them another shot. The world wept when Chester left this place.
And how does Rolling In The Deep go back to '99? It was written in 2010.
Chester started in too high of a key and Mike didn't want him to strain his voice so he was talking to him about dropping the key lower.
I am sure Chester could have pulled it off but it was the right call.
