Wow there are a lot of Russian Communists posting on this site. Pro-Russian, Pro-Putin is Anti-American. I know these Russian propagandists are just afraid for their lives and family but it’s disturbing they don’t understand what freedom of speech really means. It’s a great honor to live in a country where we can call the President old or we can vote a President out who doesn’t align with our values of democracy, justice and liberty for all.
Ukraine will kick Russia’s butt with or without another penny from us. Their people have tasted democracy & freedom, they aren’t being forced to fight for a crazy S.O.B.’s ego.
What Carlson FAILED to disclose about those seemingly cheap groceries were the wages the common Russian makes. Carlson came with US $$$$$, they live on puny Russian wages.

Yes, low-skilled personnel in the province receive not much: 1-2k dollars per month.
Well... If you recount this using purchasing power parity(if you know what it is), than you can multiple that count by 3.
That gives you real russians income in sense if they buying their own products in their own markets.
BUT.
If you want more to here about "low income" than:
1) Salary in Russia is considered tax-free.
In the sense that the employer has ALREADY paid taxes on this money.
That means if you make a deal to gain 2к salary with an organisation - that means that you will be taking 1k every two weeks without any taxes on you. Salary bonuses are taxed-free too.
2)Most social services are free of charge.
You don't need health insurance, schools are free, universities, kindergartens - all this is funded by the federal budget.
You don't have to win a "grant" to study gender studies. You just take the exams, get free housing for the duration of your studies and a scholarship (quite low, in fairness - a couple hundred dollars a month).
Even if you incredible dumb to pass the exams - you can study commercialy. State cover most of it anyway - that will be around 1-10k bucks per year (2-3 mostly for tier-1 universitys).
By the way, most people in Russia have higher education.
Not just "college"-it's almost mandatory.
I mean, about 60 percent of the adult population graduated from University.
Not bad for a poor country😅
When I talk about medicine, I mean that they pull you out of the other world and don't ask for a penny.
3) Housing and communal services.
In Russia, most people live in their own homes.
It just so happened that the Communists under Khrushchev built up the whole country with cheap housing.
Actually, that's why people don't spend money on rent, and if they do, then at the same time they have income from renting out their homes in another city.
For the same reason, there are very few homeless people.
By the way, the status of the "world gas station" has a great effect on household management.
For example, central heating in a country covered by ice more than half of a year will comes to around one dollar per month.
Actually, less than a hundred dollars a month is spent on all bills for an apartment in Moscow.
As for faxes - 3 roomed central apartment comes around 50 bucks per year.

I'm not saying that everything is so rosy - the country has emerged from the most severe crisis of the nineties.
