    Awesome thank you. I just repaired a plastic part on my lawnmower that was going to cost £68. I trimmed some plastic off of the part to use as a welding material. Heat smoothed it , knife trimmed it and sanded. Looks great just as strong.

      David Snow 🍃 Cause of sadness is inequality because of the system . People always follow the perceived path of greatest pleasure; at least resistance path. So, there is no free will. People are conditioned by environments. There is no democracy. All governments are existing to transfer wealth to rich. Monetary system is legalised theft. Over consumption of finite resource of the earth is the current economy of the world. Plutocrats/corporatocracy is the real rulers. Its not that we have frogot repairing its just that in may cases its cheeper to replace the product once time us factored in the addage goes lets say the bowl costs 2 dollars new and me as a worker is paid 12 dollars an hour the repair would cost 1 dollar in materials wear in tools charcoal and scrap plastic and takes 15 minutes .25 of an hour so 1 dollar materials .25 of my 12 dollar wage. 3 dollars making for 4 dolllars to fix a 2 dollar bowl this is the logic used with a lot of this stuff especially when you get into bigger thing but then you get to things like cars were a person cant fix some stuff even if they wanted to due to complexity and need for expensive specalized tools that manfatures jelously guard as a repaird item doesnt to generate them more money (save putting out a good qualuty product and people stuck with that manufacturer over a competer but they tred the line of how cheep can I make something and people will still buy it and stick with them)

    Nowadays these people r rare... nostalgic for me. I have seen ppl doin such repairs when i was a kid. It was fun to watch. These days ppl have got chinese use n throw cheap stuff. Bucket repairmen, kulfi makers, man with bear, statue makers and metal repairmen, onions and garlic seller, knife sharpener man with his modified cycle all at the door.

    Indian's seem to be a very resourceful, lateral thinking, fix anything with what is available type of nation, no regard for modern first world 'health and safety' crap, just fix it, keep it going, repair it, proper old school make do and mend attitude rather than the way most of us throw away stuff that could be kept in use with a bit of work. A+ to the Indian way of repairing stuff rather than buying new :-)

      2nd is urban middle class . These people have homes and has aceaa to education

      Apart from that, I agree with you about everyone needing to fix stuff instead of throwing it away after the slightest damage.

    Yes this works. Easy with some practice. Must add plastic not just melt existing part and do both sides. Also works on toys, snow shovels, etc. Smoothing is the toughest part.

    Thank you! This video is the best! I have two rigid ponds that both formed cracks. I was researching welding plastic to fix them and the high density polyethylene rods (since my research said to use the exact kind of plastic to repair) were $30.00 for a 4 foot length.I would have gone through those tiny rods fast!! After watching this I dug through my recycle and found a vinegar jug that is made from HDPE so will be using that instead!

    my pets opening flap door is expensive but cheaply made and broke with the flap opening and closing constantly causing a crack to break the flap.So im using a small strong clamp because of pressure to hold the two opposing sides together from forceably pulling apart . I will use this method on half of the weld then clamp the other half to complete the weld thankyou

    Aditaya, you should post a health warning! This is a cheap, no doubt, but dangerous method of repair.
    The repairman is breathing in smoke from the process -- and that smoke is loaded with dioxins and other frightfully toxic stuff. This is one very effective way of getting cancer!!
    (I know I am commenting on a 3 year old posting, but it is important to be concious of health hazards. Using a hot air gun for plastic welding is more expensive, but far safer,)

    • @dfarns123
      @dfarns123 8 років тому +1

      +Subroto Sen ...I agree with your warning, but how is a hot air gun safer? It still has to heat up the plastic enough for it to melt, and fumes would still be released into the surrounding air. Would there be fewer fumes that way, with the heating up more precise?
