Hiya Robert, When I've watched you painting rural landscapes I've wondered if you are a fan of Rowland Hilder, because some of your work is reminiscent of his. Thanks very much, David.
I have heard the name, not really familiar with his work. However it shares some of the qualities of other artists I have studied who painted in the same era!
Robert, you stated the sky was painted wet into wet...I always admire Wesson's skies for the inclusion of some bits of hard white edges, which you seem to have captured also. Did you wet all, some, or none of the sky before starting?
I started with dry paper and first used some grey blue and then straight into this with some yellow ochre using wet into wet....well a mix of wet into wet and wet onto dry! Like you say you need the dry paper to get hard edges. Leaving the white of the paper give the sky a feel of light. A great painter, I will study his paintings more in the future.
@@RobertMeeArtist Thanks so much for the clarification...and within an hour to boot; that's some sort of record, I'm sure. Thanks for the diligence in all you do on this channel, and I'm wishing you and yours a fantastic 2024!
Dear Robert, Thank you for your advice; the use of colour is fundamental in Eduard Wesson's work |Alex
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Robert that’s brilliant. Love the sky, will need to re- watch for that alone and the Patreon tree lesson as well.
You are welcome 😊
Congrats on 5K subs. Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration this past year.
Let's go for 20k subs by next year. I look forward to improving my videos and finding ways to help everyone who watches paint amazing watercolours.
