Spaghetti ice is not only a visual pleasure I really like how it is build to give the ingredients a sensual structure. The bottom is pure whipped cream, than the vanilla ice in spaghetti form that freezes the cream to a certain degree on top delicious strawberry sauce and white choclate crumbles. All the ingredients have slightly different temperature and texture. You should give it a try.

Yep, I always love plunging my spoon through the softer vanilla cream ice "spaghetti" to get to the frozen whipped cream (without sugar!) below which kind of splinters. Then when you put both in your mouth, plus the white chocolate flakes on top of the vanilla ice, all will melt in your mouth at different speeds so you first get the vanilla taste, then the pure cream coating your tongue as it melts and the whiet chocolate taste. And of course the strawberry sauce which goes so well with the vanilla and white chocolate!

Summer and winter tyres are made of different rubber. Summertyres work best over 7°C, below that they lose a lot of grip and brake distances increase by a lot. Wintertyres are made for low temps below 7°C and they literally melt away in higher temps. It's about getting the best possible grip and brake working in the conditions.

Kohlrabi is a "winter" vegetable (available all year, but seasonal -- thus fresher and cheaper -- late in the year), close to radishes in texture, minus the sharp taste. Basically, you peel it, chop it into small pieces, and cook it like carrots. You can even mix the two; the contrast between the white and red is visually appealing, and it's a great, fairly quick-to-prep side to short-fried meats (burger patties, schnitzel) or a plain roast with potatoes. It's also a great addition to a mixed-veg stew or soup. (And again, like carrots, you can nibble on it raw.)
And spaghetti ice is just a way to make plain vanilla icecream more appealing. 🙂

I guess in the northern part of Germany the winter is just the same as in the UK. More rain than snow
A 2014 study by researchers from the department of urology at Leiden University Medical Center found that men who sat down to pee were able to empty their bladders faster and more effectively. That's because when you stand, you activate muscles in your pelvis and spine, but they're completely relaxed when you sit.

Kohlrabi... i mostly like it raw, sliced up as a snack instead of chips. It's a bit crispy that way which i like a lot. No overwhelming flavour... you just bite on something and it crunches ;)
Winter/Summer tires: Living in the Cologne area in never really "needed" winter tires. I now use "all year tires" that are a compromise but still legal to use in winter. Not that good in rain but since i drive a very small car and not challenging people on the autobahn it works for me.

Double decker trains in Germany require a higher train profile to drive on. So they already exeed the "standard" german train profile (the space trains are allowed to use in order not to hit anything on the sides like plattforms, etc.) and are therefore only allowed to drive on specific routes through the country. The british train profile is way smaller and just isn't high and big enough to allow any double decker trains in the UK

Give Kohlrabi a try. You only nead to peal it, cut it in small slices, like a carrot. Blanch it in some salt water.
Make a bechamelle sauce with some "good" butter and onio, put some of the blanching water, season with salt and a little white pepper, add the kohlrabi and sprinkle fresh parsley on top.
This goes well with coarse bratwurst or meatballs (the German version with an eggyolk and a few days old "soaked" bread/French baguette) and potatos. It fits also with Schnitzel.

Kohlrabi is really versatile. I like to grate it and make a salad from it adding salt, vinegar and oil and a pinch of sugar. You can add grated carrot, too. But I also like to snack on it raw (peeled and cut into strips). My mum used to steam it and serve with a white sauce with parsley in it. I sometimes do that, too but I prefer it raw. Edit: The taste is a bit like very mild radishes. And it has a nice crunch when you eat it raw. 🙂Some people use kohlrabi to make low carb/keto roast potatoes. They cube it and fry it in a pan. I think that is quite nice but not really a substitute for the real thing (like cauliflower rice).
Spaghetti ice cream is great. I don't know why they put it through that thingy (which I believe is a potato press) but I suppose it's just fun to eat something that looks like something else. Also, putting it through the press makes the ice cream softer and creamier. Perhaps it's that. Underneath the pile of ice cream spaghetti there's whipped cream, which ever so slightly freezes on top. Pretty nice. And the strawberry sauce on top with the white chocolate ... Yum!
As for peeing sitting down, I think, the posture helps emptying the bladder completely whereas standing up some urine may remain and cause infections. But really it's just a question of etiquette in Germany. You avoid splashing, which is not very nice to clean up. The word she mentioned, "Sitzpinkler", is actually a derogatory term usually used by men who believe their masculinity depends on peeing standing up. It means something like "wuss" or "beta".

Health benefits for peeing sitting down is basically the splash problem. When peeing you spray a fine mist of piss which covers a lot more than the bowl. Yes you clean your toilet but how often. For the few days in between this is wonderful living ground for microbes and bacteria.

As far as I know peeing while a man stands is healthier because of the physiognomy of the male bladder: during sitting the "exit" is not the lowest point. That's the reason why a residual of urine stays there and can speed up the formation of urinary stones. Once a day peeing while standing should avoid this I suppose.
I'm no pro in medicine, just interested in.

@@markusb.ausu.3878 actually, if you look up the study, the exact opposite is true. If you sit, the bladder is emptied faster and more efficiently, as the muscles around the bladder are relaxed. It is also better for people with prostate conditions.

There are loads of all-season tyres available in Germany that are a compromise between pure summer and winter tyres. All car tyres used in winter conditions must be M+S (mud and snow) certified, so it is either winter or all-season tyres, summer tyres are illegal to use in the winter.

    • @reinhard8053
      @reinhard8053 10 місяців тому +1

They are not illegal to use (Germany, Austria). But if there are "winter conditions" (snow or ice), you need to have them or let you car stay at home. There are some countries or parts of countries in Europe which need you to have winter tires all winter long. There are different regulations for trucks and busses.
In Austria all winter tires need to have at least 4mm profile or they are no winter tires anymore.

    @Anson_AKB 9 місяців тому +2

summer and winter tires also have different rubber mixtures. besides the different carving, the winter mixture gives better grip on ice and snow since it is softer (especially important on cold temperatures), but that also causes winter tires to be worse in summer with longer braking distances and less durability. thus it is best to have the correct tires for the region and that region's and season's conditions.
there also are "all weather tires" that are a compromise, better than summer tires in winter and better than winter tires in summer, but of course somewhat worse than winter tires in winter and somewhat worse than summer tires in summer. they probably are best when you live eg in a city and don't have lots of days with heavy snow each year and don't want to need changing them, but need to drive also on those few snowy days.
ps: watch out for maximum allowed speeds of tires, which (for similarly priced tires) usually is much lower for winter than for summer tires. better quality for higher speeds costs more.

1:35 - yes, we eat them, in Czech it's called "kedlubna" and it's totaly normal vegetable here, but it kind of makes sense when Germany is our neighbor. 😀
"Eurowindows" started be popular here around like 2000, it was not like that before. We use double decker trains and I like them, but these trains from 90s will go to pension soon and I don't know if new replacement for them will be double decker again, I hope so, because these lines around Prague are really crowded. They just say it will have capacity for 380 sitting people.
Everyone is always surprised that winter is comming and they switch their tyres too late when it's already freezing. 😀
I mostly also pee while sitting at home, but most of men would consider it "gay" or something, so you don't talk about such things, I don't know why we don't have urinals at homes, that would be really usefull, when people can have bidets and several sinks, I don't know why they don't have urinals.

"I mostly also pee while sitting at home, but most of men would consider it "gay" or something"
This sitting while peeing is a recent - I would guess in the last 3 decades - development here in Germany. When I was a child 5 decades ago this wasn't a thing at all. The term Sitzpinkler (sitting pee-er) was originally an insult but over time Sitzpinkler (like me) owned the term. In the beginning it was seen as "gay" here as well but nowadays this stigma is gone.
I would guess most men only sit to pee in their own home and other private homes - like when they visit friends or family. In public restrooms (Restaurants, Pubs etc.) they use the urinal. I started to sit down to pee when I moved into my first apartment and had to clean up the mess myself 🤭

I like Kohlrabi in a white bechamel sauce as side dish to pancakes, but you can also eat it raw (it can however cause flatulences if you eat too much of it raw). There are some regions like Frankfurt where you can use all-season tires because it nearly never snows - but if you want to drive through hillier regions, you should definitively use winter tires in winter. All-season tires don't have enough grip on snowy roads and are not as good as summer tires in summer (regarding fuel consumption, wear and anti-aquaplaning friction).

  • @AdLockhorst-bf8pz
    @AdLockhorst-bf8pz 9 місяців тому

Different rubber composition; winter tyres are softer. Use them in summer and they wear down faster. The sides of tyres are softer than the rolling surface too; you want the sides to be able to deform to make steering easier. The rolling surface, you want to be wear resistant and provide grip.

When I had in Germany my own car, I just kept using "all-season-tires", which you do not need to change if you are only driving in places with mild hills. if you drive in southern germany with very tall and steep hills and mountain areas, you certainly need winter tires otherwise you will cause an accident or go off road and fall very deep. the fee for not using the right tires is high when caught and insurances dont cover you if you cause an accident.

There is a scientific study on spaghetti ice cream and why it is different from regular vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and strawberry sauce. You could guess, there are ways to make it simpler, why eating ice cream in such a complicated way.
    But...
    It's all in the layering.
Whipped Cream (with 35-40% fat, so not the normal supermarket cream, more what Brits use for clotted cream or the French call Creme double) goes on the bottom. On top of that comes vanilla ice cream pressed through a potato press. The cold causes the cream to freeze a little on its surface and get a slight crunch. Because of the spaghetti shape, the ice cream has a larger surface area, the vanilla flavor and also the strawberry flavor of the sauce can develop better and it feels creamier. The grated white chocolate adds a cocoa butter accent.
Would you layer the whole thing the easier way, with ice cream on the bottom, strawberry sauce, whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles on top, these sensory impressions don't come out so well.
Test eaters must have clearly noticed the differences between spaghetti ice and vanilla ice with strawberry sauce during the blind tasting of the studies.

Winter tires don't just have to do only with snow and ice on the road, but if the temperatures consistently fall below +7 degrees Celsius and colder then winter tires are generally better than summer tires because of their special rubber compound. Of course, winter tires are in their element on snow, but no tire grips on ice. But some Germans don't understand that either, especially if they don't drive much or live in big cities or in areas with little or no snowfall during the winter.
In addition, in Germany there is generally a fine if you drive with summer tires in winter.
All of this also applies to cars with all-wheel drive.
Many car owners switch from summer tires to winter tires themselves and vice versa in order to save costs and it's not a big deal either and quickly done.
Also in the U.K. winter tires would be recommended, because the winter there is cold too and sometimes snowy depending on the region.
Women don't like it when the man who lives with them pee standing up because it splashes and the man don't wipe it away because it's the woman who usually clean the bathroom. It's not a health topic, just a hygiene and a relationship topic ... and the hygiene thing should be the same for men who live alone.
Ice cream that looks like spaghetti Bolognese is very popular with children because children also like to eat this special pasta dish, but all of this does not automatically mean that all or most Germans like to eat it. I for instance don't eat this special ice cream because I don't like vanilla ice cream. I always prefer the original spaghetti Bolognese dish only made by Italians, imo the only people who really know how to properly handle pasta and pizza.

This is what AI ansewerd to your question :)
Sitting while peeing can offer several health benefits for men, particularly for those with certain medical conditions or concerns. Here are the main ways in which sitting to urinate can positively impact men's health:
    1. **Improved Bladder Emptying**: Sitting can facilitate more complete bladder emptying, which is beneficial for men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) or an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH). This position can help reduce post-void residual urine, potentially lowering the risk of urinary tract infections and bladder stones[1][3][4].
    2. **Pelvic Floor Muscle Relaxation**: Sitting down can help relax the pelvic floor muscles, which may be particularly beneficial for men who have difficulty relaxing these muscles while standing. This can aid in reducing straining during urination and improving the flow of urine[1][4].
    3. **Increased Stability and Safety**: For men with balance, mobility, or dexterity issues, sitting provides a more stable and safer position to urinate, reducing the risk of falls and accidents in the bathroom[1].
    4. **Reduced Messiness**: Sitting can minimize urine splatter and mess, which is not only more hygienic but also reduces the spread of bacteria like *E. coli* in the bathroom environment[4].
While the benefits of sitting to urinate are more pronounced for men with specific health issues, healthy men can also choose this position for comfort and hygiene reasons. It is important for individuals to choose the position that feels most comfortable and effective for them, and to seek medical advice if they experience persistent urinary problems[2][3][4].

Wait, there is no Kohlrabi (turnip cabbage) in the British Isles??? * mind blown *
You have to remove the leaves and skin the Kohlrabi tuber before you eat it (with a knife or a peeler), though, since the outer pale-green skin layer isn't edible dueto its stringy fibers and is thicker than a potato's skin. But it's more like a carrot's "skin" in that there's no clear demarkation (unlike with a potato), you just cut the greenish parts off until you reach the inner white part of the tuber which has the consistency of a radish or apple. You can eat it raw, in slices with a pinch of salt on top, it's moist like an apple slice and has a fresh taste, it's not as sharp as radishes... very nice in summer. You can serve raw Kohlrabi stick along with carrot sticks and sour cream dip! Or cook it and season the same way you'd cook and season carrots.
The thing is, Kohlrabi has to be eaten while it's "young". You can let the tuber sit on a shelf for a while if you keep it in a dry and cool place (otherwise it will start getting mildew on its skin, like carrots do), but the inner white parts will gradually becomes drier and change consistency and start to resemble snow-white foam rubber and lose taste. If you cut an older Kohlrabi open and it's like completely dry and spongy inside, throw it away as it won't taste anymore.

In the USA they use them for long runs, but there the upper part is passenger, the lower part sleeping departments. The reason is by the way, that the design of the doubledecker train was patented by the Görlitz train factory. Nowadays the original patent belongs to Alstom (after they bought Bombardier who had bought Adtranz who had gotten the Görlitz train factory after 1990), and Alstom had to open up the license to other companies like Siemens (Desiro HC) for anti-monopoly reasons. Only Japan has an own invention for their "green cars". By the way, Siemens has only the license for the middle cars - that's why their trains like the HC have double decker middle cars but one floor end cabs.
Why the british don't have them: they are quite useless in highly urban areas - as they have only two doors, but double the amount of passengers to depart or board. They work better in the rural areas. But the UK or France are quite centralized: Most of their people life in some few urban metropolis like the Liverpool Manchester area or Greater London. So they need trains with many doors for high passenger flux. Meanwhile Germanys population is much more spread out, especially in the east, but you have huge passenger numbers from the rural area to the centers and also between the centers. The low number of doors therefore don't make much of a hassle in the rural areas and meanwhile you have many passengers in a quite small train (In theory Double Deckers can only be a loco and a doubledecker drivers cab = 45m long), which can stop at small platforms too.

Probably a big reason why the UK has no double decker trains* is because the UK has a smaller loading gauge, the profile dictating how tall and wide trains can be without hitting stuff around them like bridges, tunnels, even train station platforms, than most of Europe (and I think most of the U.S., given that most cargo train routes there allow for stacking two standard shipping containers in top of each other). Widening the lauding gauge is pretty expensive as you have to modify basically all tunnels and bridges along a route.
*The UK had one experimental double decker train 50+ years ago. Only two train sets were made.

@@acmenipponair In the highly urban Ruhr Area of germany, we still use double deckers - but only between cities. So you have the S-Bahn which, between one city center and the next, has several stops. They use single decker trains (with 4 sets of doors per carriage), with being just a few minutes apart. And you have the "regional express" trains, which only stop in the big-ish cities, and *only* at the central stations. They use double deckers, and run at least 5, usually 10+ minutes between stops.

_"With his ideas - such as the _*_first industrially manufactured tilt-and-turn fitting in 1935_*_ or the retractable attic staircase"..._
    _Company history of:_
    *Roto*
    _Window & Door Technology_
From the 1950'is arround, manufacturers gradually moved from using two single-glazed windows, installed one in front of the other and opening separately, to one window with double glazing to keep the cold at bay. With that, the ease and flexibility of opening the single window became more important, making the tilt and turn hardware a life-changing invention.
While initially expensive, the use of vinyl ultimately enabled German manufacturers to produce windows with incredible thermal properties at very low cost. Suddenly, there was a low cost-option to deal with the cold German climate in the winter, while allowing easy ventilation and opening in the mild summer, making climate control obsolete. From then on, thermally efficient tilt and turn windows increased their market share quickly, triggering frequent innovations and making a wide selection of materials available, including vinyl, wood, aluminium and steel.
*The European window market was never looked back.*

Spaghetti ice is much softer than the "ice balls" and if you recognized - there is cream below ("Sahne") you could not place ice balls on top. Also the cream gets frozen after some minutes which has a nice taste on top of all. The red sauce adds an fruity taste.
You can make it yourself - you find the Spaghetti tool for about 30 to 40 €.
    Not only for Kids! :-)
For the Winter tires - "Allwetterreifen" (all weather/all season tires) exist. Not better than summer tires in summer or winter tires in winter, but they come near to it. Winter tires would rapidly loose rubber when use din summer and summer tires do not work with snow and/or ice.
The snowy days in winter are less than in the 80's, but low temperatures (currently -6) occur every winter for some days or even some weeks.
To you r rain question: We have lots of rain in October/November and also in March and April ("Der April macht was er will" ->the april doeas wat he wants...)

Acually change tyres is annoying for everybody. Mechanics don't like it because everybody around october and eastern come to them for changing tyres and expects to get a little check up.
And people don't like it because you have changed your tyres and only a few months later, you have to do it again.
In some places there are mechanics only for that. Often times young or old men who have a lifting platform at home.

  • @duke6321

The time, when the wheels are changed from summer to winter and back, is not really popular with the mechanics in the workshops. This work can be compared to assembly line work, but it is exhausting and monotonous. Anyone who has to lift a few hundred wheels for several days in a row knows what I'm writing about. The modern SUVs with wheels that weigh a good 35 kg and more each are not really popular. Especially since the customer always assumes that it is no problem to change them quickly. If you despise this job, you should do it for a day. After that, you see the world of work with different eyes. Warranted.
