    Please use this link to place your order as it supports the channel. Note that current production does indeed allow "0" pedal assist without powering off the bike, and a kickstand is now included.

    Great review but I have to disagree with the statement @12:44 that this isn't the bike to get if you have hand or wrist issues. Many folks have replace the bars on a rideal with higher ones. New bars only cost about $30 and are really easy to install.

    A lot of 750w motor have 80 or 85nm of torque so 60nm sounds like the acceleration of a 500w motor.

    Where I live in the Netherlands there is dedicated cycle routes everywhere (with decent separation). It really sucks seing you can only ride on road or in your (much more awesome compared to what we have here) state park trails. Me being a father, I really miss the practicality of being able to ride with my family on the road like that if i'd be in your situation.

      We love the Netherlands!!! I did spend a fair bit of this video riding on a greenway, though I included more riding on the street because that’s a better demo of what this bike can do. It’s legal in my city to ride on the sidewalk, though not all sidewalks are very wide. However, there are plenty of great places for families to ride for recreation even if they aren’t a way to get from once place to another.

    Great video. I own the Radmission, which I love, but this looks fun, too. I will say my brakes don’t squeak - at all. Bedded them in as directed and they’ve been quiet since. The one you are riding seems excessively squeaky. I upgraded to an LCD on the Rad, which allows you to remove the 20 mph limiter. So it doesn’t cut off until about 25 mph. Thanks for your review!

      Disc brakes squeak any time there is a way to set up resonance in the rotors. That can come from the pads, but anything that gets between the pads and the rotors can also cause the noise. Even happens with disc brakes on cars.

    I was excited to see this review, because I'd commented extensively here when you reviewed the RadPower Radmission. I just now sent this "cut -an-pasted" email message (see below) to my local bike-shop mechanic ... who takes great care of my Radmission ...
    Hi Jason,
    I think that I may have mentioned this bike to you when it was introduced several months ago. It’s obviously made in the same factory as my Radmission, but with multiple-gearing and a more powerful battery …
    ua-cam.com/video/GkHjipPmKNE/v-deo.html
    And as I mentioned in the Subject Line, the Ariel’s American price ($1099) is just a bit more than the American price ($999) for the RadPower Radmission (now selling for CAN$1499 from RadPower in Canada in Vancouver) that I own …
    Same tires and wheels and frame and forks and controller and brakes and instruments and grips and pedals as my bike, but with decent name-brand derailleurs and a bigger (more-honkin’) battery … for just $100 more. What’s not to like?
    I’m still delighted with mine … it suits my around-town needs perfectly. As y’all know, I upgraded to a better seat and a wonderful high-end Suntour suspension seat-post. But that Ariel is sure-as-hell a cost-efficient upgrade!
    Typical ... not available in Canada ... :(

      I heard somewhere that a zero pedal assist will be added so that you don’t have to turn off the system for pedal power only. Do you know?

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому +1

      About a month ago, I confirmed directly with Ariel Rider that you must turn off the power to eliminate power assist, and at that time, they made no mention that was going to be changed.

    • @tubehabit

    • @TheTechofTech

      Yes, but only by turning off the power. As mentioned, I confirmed this with the manufacturer. No amount of hitting the “-“ button does anything below PAS 1.

    Sweet I'm also 5'8 with a 30 inseam, was debating on waiting for the mid step but I want the high so my 6'2 dad can borrow it. It looks like your knees aren't overextended and the reach can always be adjusted with a stem so I think I can go with the high then! Not a fan of those thumb shifters though but no other options I think.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому

      The Shimano Tourney thumb shifter is what you’re going to get in this price range from all manufacturers. Well, that or a single speed. lol
      You will need to lean the bike to get on and off comfortably, but that’s not an issue for an experienced rider. I rode for a long time before standover height was even a consideration of frame design.

  • @fvvfvbbbb
    @fvvfvbbbb 2 роки тому

    Another great review. Would adding a seat post with spring or softer seat and more upright handle bars to make this more of a comfortable ride ruin the bike for mostly street riding?
    Would Be better off looking for a different bike for more comfort?

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому

      The issue with spring seatposts is that they add several inches to the minimum height you can drop the seat to, so on a bike like this, you’d need to be pretty tall for that to work. You can certainly put taller bars and even a taller stem on this for more upright riding. However, check out my review of the KBO Breeze. It’s way more comfortable and plenty powerful. It is more expensive, though. ua-cam.com/video/X3sjccrXghY/v-deo.html

    My Radmission has a very similar looking controller pad but has zero pedal assist level that can be used rather than shutting the bike off when you want to go slow.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому +1

      It’s the same exact pad on the RadMission. It seems that newer Rideals now allow PAS 0, as well, but they hadn’t decided to do that yet when I asked for this video.

    For a first-time e-bike customer who doesn't have tons of hills, would you recommend the RadMission or the Ariel Rider?

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому +2

      Depends on your priority. The RadMission will have less drivetrain maintenance, and it works fine if you don’t have a lot of hills, but the Rideal’s more powerful motor alone is a reason many will prefer that over the RadMission.

      the only reason one would have bought the radmission over the rideal is because they didnt know the rideal existed.
      i have a radmission that i paid $450 for as they are blowing them out but id much rather pay $450 for the rideal but i doubt they blew them out at any sort of similar deal when they discontinued it.
      should really do 28 at least though with its peak power.
      the radmission can supposedly do 25 but im still waiting for my lcd upgrade to arrive.
      radmission is a nice bike but not for anything approaching $1000. $450 though is probvably the best new ebike deal ive ever seen.

      I don’t know of any others in this price range with both a 750W motor and 6 speeds. The RadMission has a 500W motor and a single speed. Others have belt drives and even smaller motors. This really does stand out among this style of ebike for the price.
