- This is the most famous Toyota Hilux on the internet. With over 10-million subscribers to his UA-cam channel Colin Furze isn't like most UA-camrs. He does shout a lot, but he doesn't drive rented supercars. Instead the Lincolnshire shed inventor (and ex neighbour of Jonny) still owns the same trashed 1988 Toyota Hilux that he bought back in 2005 to help make his first proper UA-cam video. Since then Colin has made hundreds of videos, with the most notorious projects usually ending up being carried by/towed with/rescued by this craply painted Nato Green Hilux. He has broken the internet. Many times. He has also broken a lot of machinery and tools.
In this episode Jonny drives a new 2019 Hilux truck (£19,000 base model, 2.4 diesel turbo, 6spd manual) to spend the afternoon talking in detail to the retired plumber about the blockbuster internet episodes his truck has featured in, Furze's life of cars, BMX stunts, his death cheating and how he managed to become famous for wearing a flammable brown tie.

Top Gears Hilux was all a load of engineered claptrap anyway. It's not unknown about the work it needed to produce the footage.
If there’s ever a UA-cam show that needs a helmet and safety equipment, this is it. So many shows have all that and never need it
What I love about Colins early work is that it makes Lincolnshire look like an entirely police-less county
I like Colin, He's a proper british 'bloke-in-a-shed', a sort of, high functioning uk equivalent to 'florida man', but this Hilux isn't as infamous as the Top Gear one sorry. Love the show tho, keep making great content.

Totally thought this was a Colin furze video when i clicked. (It’s 5:30 in America where I am) then I realized it was a car pervert and got even more excited.
Love seeing a new Hilux in pov spec. Steelies and sidewall looks magic. Another Hilux to add is the Toy Story one, no only is it an icon of the film but it's an Easter egg in loads of the other Pixar films!

The MOT history is interesting
Judging by it being kept on a farm, I'd have a guess at it being registered as an agricultural vehicle, so the mot is pretty lax compared to your road going equivalent. As long as its only used for farm related jobs.
@@dankrafted I wasnt sure if Colin had done that or its just kept at his mates farm ( am guessing its his mates Toms's farm) as he hasnt got room on his drive at the moment. Colin seems to be running about in a Delorean DMC12 and an E30 BMW

That's something I love about Colin, he wont go out and destroy a nice car just because he could but instead try to find the worst one that will still work for the project. Oh, and also the music choice in the videos.

Found this by just doing my monthly search for mk2 hiluxes, have always been a great admirer of furzes little green truck. Great video
I also own an '88 Hilux that came from the factory blue. No rust, beyond some surface bits on the body, tailgate and window winches/door handle mechanisms are pretty much thrashed. But a great off-roader worthy of restoration. I'm always looking for another!
@@ethanbrendmoen4144 haha good luck finding one. There's still plenty but nobody wants to sell them. It's been my absolute dream car since I was 6, specifically the 2.4 singlecab 4x4 in red or blue, with the optional bull bars and roll bars. If that's what you've got, I'll be immeasurably jealous.

When this began I thought Jonny was doing a Monty Python lumberjack sketch, singing about pickups in a pick up🤣 what an interesting guy I will look back on some of these mad stunts. Love the classic Hilux only thing is when I see it rusting like that I just want to treat it it I think you should put a whole new chassis in it and leavethe patina on top to keep it going. Or suppose you could Mount it on the wall as wall art as it is his historical vehicle🤣👍

The button to release the car key:
If your car/van/ truck has a steering lock and no held key then the key can pop out when you are 'tearing the arse out of it !' , then you crash as the steering locks.
I once towed a car down a London street, the key popped out at a speed bump and the car driver couldn't stop the car ruining the sides of a row of parked cars.
If the lock is working properly the key shouldn't be able to come out in any position except "off", it's just another thing the Americans needed to stop them doing stupid things and suing the manufacturer same as having to put your foot on the clutch in the new one.
I drove a Hilux once, which the key could be withdrawn in any position... the steering lock didn't come on, though, unless the key was removed in the off position. You could also drive it with the handbrake (that's the e-brake if you're 'mercain) hard on & suffer no discernible loss of power. Ah, the good old days, when the police didn't have computerised records of insurance, tax and MoT status...

Crazy, I bought an '88 Toyota Hilux 4WD in blue for 1500 as well... but to be honest, it's in about the same condition as this! Still worth it, continues to surprise me in regards to it's ability to keep going. Deserves a restoration at this point.

I think he should take the bed off and repair the frame rails and potentially hunt down a new power plant or have the engine refreshed. Eg rebored new rings, valves recut and new springs. Also just in general de rust everything
