      They should get rid of most the staff and move the whole company to Germany or Sweden. Six months later Basecamp will be intuitive and intelligently made and focused on the right stuff. The Britts just can't do this kind of thing, I don't see why they pretend they can.

    For Mac users you can share using your icloud if you give it permission to share documents or desktop. Dropbox would also work.

    Tim, Thanks for making Base Camp functional.
    I know you discuss using a server to transfer databases but can you explain how to exchange routes using email attachments? My goal is to be able to share route ideas with a riding buddy. I send him a proposed trip, he looks at it, maybe modifies and loads on his GPS (he has a better unit than mine). It sounds like you do this with cloud servers...I am too much a troglodyte to be comfortable with the cloud. Thanks again

    Thanks Tim, this is something I've been planning to try for some time- using Google Cloud Drive as my master Basecamp database, accessible either from my home desktop PC or my mini laptop which accompanies me in my motorcycle luggage whilst touring such as now. I'll have a play around and see if I can do it! Thanks from the UK :)

    Excellent video. But it's not clear if you are running the Google Drive app in the background on both the laptop and the desktop ( which is responsible for keeping the files in sync )

    Very informative videos - thank you, Tim!
    I use Garmin Montana, and have been using map (img) files to organize longer rides. How can I create an img file from gpx files with Basecamp? If not with Basecamp what other tools/software is available for that. Thank you!

    • @EZMotoTim
      @EZMotoTim  2 роки тому

      The short answer is, I don't know. I'm not familiar with the hand held devices. As I understand the Garmin nomenclature, an img file contains a routable map. A gpx file contains a series of points that define a route. The GPS takes the points in the gpx file and displays then as a route on the routable map. Anyways, thank for watching.

    By the same token, can a friend and multi pal friends have access to and make changes to a cloud version of a trip.

      Theoretically you could do this, but it's not practical. Only one person can open the database at a time. The app is not designed for collaboration. Thanks for watching.

    Hi, Tim. Just got done with all 8 videos. I understand the difference between my global map and the city navigator map on my device (RV780). Is there a way to import the device map onto my PC for me to use BaseCamp without having my device hooked up to it? I looked at the import menu and I don't see anything for that.

    This may seem like a dumb question but (i'm a newb)
    how do I view the routes I created on my Garmin GPS?

    • @EZMotoTim
      @EZMotoTim  4 роки тому +1

      It depends on the model of the GPS. Mine is an older Zumo 665. When I select a route there is an option to preview it.

      @@EZMotoTim For my Nuvi they are under "Trip Planner".

    • @timmyb1957
      @timmyb1957 4 роки тому +1

      Not a dumb question at all. I also can't find my routes that I've sent over. Does it just send the waypoints and shaping points and we still have to manually build the route on the device? I don't see any option to "choose route". (And, I did look under "Trip Planner" and they are not there.)

    • @Soupcan35
      @Soupcan35 4 роки тому +2

      @@timmyb1957 there's a folder called GPX. You have to File-Export the GPX file to that folder on the Garmin. Then it will be under trip planner. That's the only way i have found that works.
